That is very true.. i used to bump up from 189 to 215 and HWT to get our TEAM some extra points as would the 171 to 189 and a few other weight classes too. You want to win your individual matches but you also want to win the TEAM MEET.

Having went to a small school i can say that our team was never any good while i was in high school we had our handful of regional and SSQ but never had any success as a team so the guys on the team all cared about there individual records Wins,Pins,TD, ect.. and i was one of them. But after going back to watch my little brother wrestle things have changed. His Class had won 4 TEAM tournaments in his junior and senior years and placed pretty good in the Conference and after seeing the smiles and energy in the TEAM after those wins i found myself a little jealous.. but happy for them. I as well as the guys i wrestled with would have loved to leave our mark and get a few trophies or banners for the school but instead it was ouR little brothers. So all i am saying is that if you grow up without ever having team success then all u will care about is Individual succes but once you taste some success as a TEAM i think it makes you hungrier for more so you take practice a little more seriously and do things a lil different then u did before and it brings you and your teamates closer together. At least it did with my brothers team and i have to say it was fun to watch and i wish i could have been a part of there TEAM.

I was a member of Team Indiana on the 03 middle school duals. I was looking at some pics i have and i was just wondering how my teamates are doing as well as the coaches. It was a great experience so glad i got the chance to be a part of something that special. still have my Team Indiana Singlet.. going to frame it soon. GALAgORE.... iIhate to post it again :-\ but this is my stance on class wrestling and why you CAN NOT compare wrestling to football. I know this will be a heated debate. This is my opinion on class wrestling, I want to know how others feel. You can't compare Class Football too Class wrestling.!!! In football the size of the school matters the more students you have the higher probability u have of getting bigger athletes. For example schools like WC or Ben Davis are always going to have that 6-3 250LBS O-line and those 6-4 Receivers.. And schools like Sheridan and Seeger might be lucky to have a handful of those guys. The bigger the school the bigger the pot is to pick your athletes from. So it makes sense to have classes so the playing field is equal. Now in wrestling it doesn?t matter how big your school is because everything is weight based. If your 125 that means you?re going to wrestled other 125lbs. So the playing level is already equal. 125 lbs is 125lbs no matter if you?re from a student body of 70 or from a student body of 3000. Compared to football where your line average is about 190-200 lbs at the 1A & 2A level compared to 250+ in 3, 4, & 5A. So yea there is no way you can compare class football to class wrestling. The only way you could have 1 class in football and make it equal is to make rules for each position. For example make every school have the same O and D-line averages. So WC and BD would have to adjust there lines to the size of the 1 and 2A. But that is never going to happen. Class football is fair and just. But to make wrestling a class sport would be a disaster. There is no need to divide by class. The field is already equal. To know that you are a SQ means your 1 of 16 wrestlers left at your weight class in the entire state. And that really means something. It gives guys from smaller school that chance to prove that they are just as good as athletes as guys from big schools. And it gives u such pride and motivation to know that you will have the chance to wrestle/beat every guy at your weight class in the entire state no matter what size his school is. So yea I would hate to see the day that is IHSAA divides wrestling into classes.... no need to try and fix something that isn't broken. Indiana High School wrestling is great because of the way it is run. 16 finalist 1 true champion. I can't imagine it being any other way.

Coach... you can not compare football to wrestling.. ??? Wrestling doesnt need classes to equalize everything.. it already has its equalizer.. WEIGHT CLASSES.

wow, there cant be more than 13 people that live in monon and we have one here on our board ;D haha yea if you blink while driving through Monon you just might miss it... but i still bleed North White Viking Blue ;D ha where u from Midget5589?? oh Laporte I wrestled at North Judson my freshman year and the wrestling sectional is there got to admit Laporte Sectional has to be one of the toughest in the state and the Portage regional laporte(see: football uniform im wearing in picture)

I was there a few times a year, I was a Benton County boy. When did you graduate? BC huh i knew a kid who was a real good wrestler from BC and he joined the Corps around the same time i did but i cant remeber his name we worked out a lot together over the summer before we left for Boot Camp i think he wrestled around 140 but i graduated in 07 and i think he did too 06 at the earliest wat about you?
