Ryan always seems to hold wrestlers. We’ll see how many Friday. I’m certain the match won’t be in doubt.

Purdue is a tough job, not unlike the other instate institution.

This maybe reality. Maryland will not lose to Purdue or Indiana. Northwestern could be the only other maybe besides Michigan State. This is all predicated on all starters participating. Big IF here!

The sport has been evolving for several years into a more systematic season. The first part of the season, now ,is used to develop a deeper room and keep starters fresh. As seen with the midlands and scuffle tournaments. Wrestlers don’t need 30 matches in a season to win the trophy in March. The injury risks and weight cut trauma get amplified .It’s More important to pick and choose, in a way , your matches ,to best advance your seed for the NCAA tournament. No need to grind it out in these meaningless events. Holding out wrestlers will continue ,for their benefit.

It’s early, guys are working into shape, especially cardio, and there’s a lot of wrestling in a season. To early to celebrate or panic.

Another thing that you may have not given a thought about is folk vs free. Jesse put it on Seth in free. The elite hs. Wrestlers aren’t given much opportunity to fight off of bottom. They’re usually controlling most matches. Thus the learning curve for escape is weak and needs to be accelerated in order to succeed in college for most freshman. -
We all know someone in the lower level ncaa classes that would definitely AA in the big tournament.

And it’s too bad. I think more than any one thing, that would generate additional interest in the sport , is this.

Agree, and keep them from transferring. Jesse is a hammer. Hopefully it can be worked out that all are in agreement, with what ever they decide to do with all these elites from one class.

Barring a residual effect from last years leg injury, I think the spot is Washingtons. He wasn’t the same last year after the intentional leg twist in the Purdue match.

Ohio has the look of a major contender in the next few years. ( Contender) as in top 3 NCAA finals. They have recruited well.

One thing you will discover about the the Hoosier program is that they don’t have a person on the inside offering any information. I would go a long way in getting more people to follow up on the team. Even if it’s this.
