  1. Forrest wrestled really well. I am hoping to see that in the finals at Semi-State.
  2. I would agree with both Joe and Karl on your going to get more with honey. But you would think an organization like the IHSAA would be bigger than petty issues with coaches and try to do what is best for the kids. I really can't state it enough. It is supposed to be about the kids. So what is the answer? A new association? Dress code? Lynch mobbing any rogue coaches?
  3. I wish I could take this approach to my job. "Hey look that looks like it is broke. Should we fix it? Nah we don't care for those people so why bother, lets set them up for failure, who cares if some kids get hurt in the process" I would and should be fired in a second. The thing is it is not about the coaches and the association. It is supposed to be about the kids. So why would the IHSAA not want to work with us to improve the sport for the kids. Yes you are going to get coaches that do stuff out of spite because of things that have happened in the past. It doesn't make it right and doesn't make what the IHSAA is doing right either. I would agree with Karl in changing strategies. You have to try something. But it really really seems that they don't want to work with us.
  4. Really??? Joe is exactly right wrestle-backs are simple. From my understanding the association was only allowed to present one thing every year and they presented wrestle-backs like 5 years in row and got turned down. SERIOUSLY? This pisses me off to no end. Not at the association but at the IHSAA. Why does this have to be difficult? I'll tell you why, the IHSAA makes it that way. Don't kid yourself they don't want to work with us. We can all wear slacks instead of jeans. We can even present ourselves in a unified professional manner. It isn't going to matter. It is a basketball state. Every year at this time it angers me to see good kids seasons cut short because the IHSAA has to be stubborn. Sorry Karl this statement may be true for football but this doesn't hold any water with wrestling. I would say the coaches tried to fix wrestle-backs but they got no where with it. The bottom line is the IHSAA doesn't understand wrestling and doesn't want to. Sure they think we are a bunch of unorganized rednecks. But I would rather be that than a bunch of tie wearing basketball fans.
  5. Well that is why he is getting no love. It is showing he has 20 losses. I was thinking that kid is way to good to have 20 losses.
  6. Does Hoffar really have 20 losses? Or is that a typo?
  7. Ouch. I am not sure that is going to help your case. I will hope for the best for you, but this does not sound good.
  8. Agreed. It was a stalking headlock.
  9. Hosted at East Noble High School and wrestling will start at 11:00am instead of 9:00am.
  10. Actually it was called a slam and Baker could not go on so the match was given to Baker. But with that said this is definetly worth the post for sportmanship. Keondre helped Baker off of the mat and sat with him on the bleachers to see if he was alright. It is always nice to see positive posts instead of the negative ones all of the time.
  11. Bring it. You are going to have more than lunch there correct? I have to work to keep this figure the way it is.
  12. Your heavy weight scared me. He looks good. Good luck the rest of the season.
  13. Not taking anything away from Jimtown. They are a great team. But they still won 195. We also forfeited 106 and the other 2 forfeits we recieved were at weight classes that we had a great chance of winning. Also there were a couple matches we were winning and ended up getting caught for the loss. Not saying how the outcome would have went either way. But we are definetly right there with them.
  14. Individual. But the seedings will probably be all messed up, due to the person doing them.
  15. 113 Matt Frane of DeKalb is 24-0.
  16. The show sucked. First of all, do they not have the same weight regulations that we have? Hammering a kid to lose 2.5 more pounds after he had already cut 9.5 pounds that day is ridiculous and borders on abuse. The kid said I can't run anymore I am cramping up. That should be all he needs to say about it. I am a firm believer in pushing the kids to limit, but when it comes to cutting weight it has been proven that this is not a good idea. Also the coaches used guilt trips to try to get their wrestlers to do stuff. "Oh we have done this for you, you owe us this." The finals looked thrilling with the lights down and only 2 kids wrestling, wait no it didn't. And then the award ceremony looked incredible. "Hey find your seat with the other 32 place winners just try not to mess up the paper" Also it looked pretty tough to qualify for state. "I just won districts. I am off to state wish me luck" I will take Indiana over this always. Single class individual wrestling is awesome and I hope we never lose it. "There can be only one" Just give me wrestle backs at regional and semi-state and a classed team championship and it will be perfect.
  17. Is this going to spin wrestling in a positive light?
  18. Our 160 dropped to 152 because the 152 was injured, also our 106, 120, and HWT were injured. It was a rough week.
  19. What? Cut more weight? Gain more weight? Sorry but I don' t agree with this. At first I was against the weight change because of the light weight getting hosed now I am against it because of the middle weights also. 138 and 145 are a grind this year. Honestly did hormones in milk really change things so much?
