  1. Being a club, that has a lot of turnover year after year, and only retaining a few from prior years, what are some of the ways you help develop a beginner? Our beginners have shown a huge step from starting this year at the beginning of November, but I'm curious what you other coaches do. What are some of the techiniques and drills that you guys use during practice to help emphasize hip control, keeping head up and wrist control?
  2. The Warriors lost a tough match 49-52. Both teams battled it back and forth. Plainfield pulled away within the lower middle weights, then the Warriors faught back in the mid-100's. Deciding match came down to the light heavyweight match and Plainfield pulled off a fall, giving them a 15 point lead and allowing them to forfeit the middle heavyweight match and with no one in their super hwt class, it brought the Warriors to within only 3. Good match both ways, it was an exciting dual meet between some pretty solid looking middle school teams. The Warriors are now 13-3, with only the County Tournament, a dual vs Columbus North and Conference Tournament.
  3. Clark Pleasant has tallied up another victory over crosstown rival Greenwood. Close meet up to 115, being tied up at 21-21, until Greenwood gave up a forfeit at 120 and the Warriors took over from there. This puts the Warriors at 13-2 on the year with losses to Franklin and Doe Creek.
  4. Anyone else only have 15 possible choices in the HWT division? I'm not getting Amos from Angola to pop up.
  5. Clark Pleasant lost only their second meet of the year to Franklin Middle School, 38-49. I wasn't in attendance but heard it was pretty close going into the 125-130 lb weight classes, then Franklin took a lead and went on from there. Good luck to both teams coming up to County and Mid State tournaments in the next few weeks.
  6. Clark Pleasant Middle School with another strong showing. They only lost 1 match. Clark Pleasant 108 - Shelbyville 6
  7. Our club is interested in purchasing more custom singlets. I've noticed quite a bit of unique custom singlets as of lately. Where do you guys get your singlets from and if you don't mind, what is final price per singlet? We bought some a couple years ago, and dropped quite a bit of money on them. We're looking into some orange singlets soon but would like to pay a little lower than $57 per custom singlet. Any help on this one guys?
  8. Pretty well ran for the most part. A couple hiccups with some computer problems. I thought they could have at least taped down a red line and a green line. Too many of the refs were slowing some of the matches down trying to get guys in certain areas and making them move up an inch or so. As for the small gym it was a nightmare. It might be better off keeping the bleachers closed and make people sit/hangout in the main gym. That way they can leave a little open room for those getting ready to wrestle. When it's time for wrestler/coach to come over and those watching as well they have a little room to walk up and stand near a mat instead of dodging and almost tripping over everyone crowded in the area. It's a short walk to walk over and check match #'s.
  9. I know the first match at 140 is going to be probably one of the better ones of the day in that bracket. Ryan Hammond and Blake Rypel is going to be a tough one for both. How did those two get stuck with each other right off the bat? I thought they did seeding or am I thinking of some other tournament? Because look at the stats for each kid, they shouldn't have to wrestle first round.
  10. The best advice I would give, would be to contact the hosting tournament, the night they are receiving their information. We had several call last night regarding some young kids in the upper weights. We had a couple in there and some empty. A lot of the places will give you an idea if they have someone in that spot.
  11. Looking forward to the tournament at our new location. Will all be located at the New Clark Pleasant Middle School Fieldhouse. We will have 3 mats seperated into 7 mats. Two small sections for little guys. Email weigh-ins only! ISWA Email Forms only! If you need to fax please contact Dave Ebeyer at 317-557-4554 or 317-887-5633. https://wisesolutionsinc.box.com/shared/z1kykb27omjg6rrvn0cb#/shared/z1kykb27omjg6rrvn0cb/1/132758329/1024622425/1 Email to dpebeyer@hotmail.com All entries must be received by 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2011. For those that run tournaments, what food items do you find that sell the best? The wrestling program at Whiteland has become the stepchild of athletics lately. First they remove the high school wrestling room, and now we have been denied use of the concession stand for our tournaments. We will still be setting up our own concession area. I was just curious what you guys sell that people eat a lot of to help fulfill the needs of the fans.
  12. The Whiteland Warrior Folkstyle Open is approaching quickly. The tournament is on January 7th at the NEW Clark Pleasant Middle School, close to the intersection of Sheek Road and Worthsville Road. Please note there is an intermediate school at the intersection, the middle school is the second school to the east. Entrance in rear. This is not at the school adjacent to the high school and football field. Last year we had 238 wrestlers and we were done around 1 pm. We will have at least 3 mats down with 6 surfaces with possibly 4 mats with 8 surfaces. Here is the link to the tournament ad, https://wisesolutionsinc.box.com/shared/8xmsxsykxs0tp00z0rfx The link for the emailed weigh-in information has changed with the new ISWA site update. Here is the link to the excel spreadsheet. It is similar to the ones used last year, if you still have one. https://wisesolutionsinc.box.com/shared/z1kykb27omjg6rrvn0cb#/shared/z1kykb27omjg6rrvn0cb/1/132758329/1024622425/1 Emailed weigh-ins are due Thursday January 5th, by 8pm. 84-0

I run the club at Whiteland now and it's kind of rough, to see the high school but up an egg like that against an 84. I know the high school is having trouble filling a couple of spots lately as well. Not exactly how many weights they forfeited, but it's no excuse for any of the wrestlers that did get on the mat, for getting pinned. Don't get PINNED! The Warriors are going through a tough time right now, since the guys in high school currently didn't have much of a school wrestling club at the time of when they were younger(still no excuse though). It really shows how much a solid booster/club team helps at the high school level. Hence, why I am trying to build a foundation. The middle school team is improving and hopefully in the near future the Warriors will be able to get some better results in the high school level. Doesn't help the whole area thinks they're a football powerhouse and the football coach doesn't want good kids wrestling. If he only knew the benefits of wrestling and translating to football.
  14. That was a wicked headlock. As soon as he hit the ground, it looked like something was wrong, because he didn't fight it very hard. Hopefully he doesn't have too many problems with that shoulder in this college career.
  15. Does your computer give you the option of what player to use when you click the link? I am using Firefox and when I click the Firefox Users link, it is asking which player I'd like to use. I am on a Mac and using Quicktime though so I don't know if that's making a difference.
  16. I don't think the zip code has anything to do with it, they just want to know where you're watching from. I used my local zip for Greenwood and it's letting me watch them. Still not getting a feed from Mat 1 though.
  17. IF you want to watch all matches, you'll have choose a different media player for each match. I've got Mats, 2,3,4 playing with 2 on flip4Mac and one running through Quicktime. I can't get 1 to work for some reason though. The older gentleman announcing mat 2 seems to have a little trouble with calling the moves and their names. Better than nothing though.
  18. Not going tonight even though I'm 15 mins away from downtown, no baby sitter for the 1 year old and don't think she'd make it through most of the night at Conseco. At home tonight watching most matches online, but will be heading downtown tomorrow for the consolations and for the finals.
  19. Will this still take place on Saturday? It isn't on a cancelled school day, so can the activities still take place over the weekend with a Friday being cancelled? Would like to see some quality wrestling this weekend.
  20. Does anyone happen to have the information for the couple that run the Snow Cone setup at the youth tournaments? Whiteland is interested in having them there since they seem to be a hit at every place they go. Either a PM with their information or an email would be greatly appreciated. shawn.slaymon@gmail.com Thanks, Shawn
  21. The first edition of the Adidas Jon Smith Mat Wizard. Loved and wore those things until I wore the sole out years later.
  22. For Franklin Central, it would have to be Jake O'Brien, a 3 Timer at 215 with about 150 some wins during that time, and only a handfull of losses. Actually FC has had several champions and placers over it's history, but I think Jake is the only 3 time winner in school history.
  23. I am actually in favor of all of them except the last one. Could be very subjective when it comes to a big match.
  24. These guys should get seeded well so they don't have to wrestle all three days. Isn't it the same weekend has NHSCA Nationals? They might be losing some competitors due to that, but overall good concept of having the non seeds wrestler their way though. Would be exhausting wrestling 3 days straight of the toughest competition though.
