  1. Heritage Hills beat Jasper in close dual. MD beat both Jeffersonville and HH by a very large margin. Neither team got to double digits.
  2. Uggghhh. I can't beleive MD moved up!! All those years of accepting cheap forfeits and cheating at the JV level was just about to pay off with a truly unprecented run of state titles. With this move, it seems like MD is actually trying to wrestle the best competition possible. Its going to be a lot tougher to win that way! Sorry for all the sarcasm.
  3. Hoosierdad, Is there actually a question in your post? Are you asking how MD kids club and Jr Wildcats did in the "Panther Hill Classic"? The answer is very well.
  4. The comment form the paper: Get real, an anonymous online post in response to a real article. And you took it serious? BTW---I saw Elvis today. The two Reitz wrestlers that went to Mater Dei transferred to Reitz for legitimate reasons. Both students wrestled in the MD feeder system and went to MD feeder schools (St Joe and Resurrection). I think only two of MD wrestlers do NOT have MD alum as parents. However, both wrestlers attended Catholic West Side Grade Schools as elementary students.
  5. Thoughts: 106 - We will see if anything different happens. Seng will try to close the gap with Kuhn 113 - Anyone's match.......I do not expect it will play out according to seeds. I am thinking Johnson/Stock in finals. 120 Best match is in the semifinals 126 Is Van Hook healty enough to win or just place and get one more week of recovery? 132 Moody, Moody, Moody 138 Lannert although Hoehn and Kelley can do some weird stuff to create scrambles. 145 Not as close as everyone thinks 152 Duh 160 Again---not as competitive as everyone thinks 171 King is tough----but I am not seeing a finals match against North 182 Duh 195 Lane beating Maurer----really? 220 Hope to see a finals match this time Hvy Don't see Wright getting beat
  6. What changed? Duh...have you been living under a rock.....it is called TEAM State. MD was undefeated in duals for years prior to Team State....just didn't have enough studs to win the title under the ind format....kinda like this year. MD probably won't place as high at ind state as they do in Team. Tipton---accepting forfeits is cheating? You are either trolling or a bonafide idiot.
  7. Noone in state takes forfeits at the JV level? Really? Perry Meridian snapped MDs JV streak and as I recall they took a couple of forfeits that day. I don't recall anyone saying they did not earn it or they padded their stats. They straight up won. Franklin almost beat MD this year at JV and as I recall they took 3 or 4 forfeits. In fact, every team we wrestled at the JV level accepted our forfeits at 3 or 4 weight classes....... Your other comments are just ignorant, crybaby stuff.
  8. I think this recruiting thing has been beat to death hasn't it? Go look at the feeder schools and Junior Wildcat team success. Success breeds success....that simple. You are right on the JV level. MD accepts forfeits from other schools. It just really makes me wonder with MD being as small as they are and wrestling schools 10x their size (although tipton may have exagerated this point) why do all of these other schools have forfeits? Let's propose a new rule. In dual meet formats, if a school has a forfeit, we will not count that in the team scores. Then we can only wrestle the 2-3 studs on the team and just forfeit the other classes.....
  9. Tttipton, It is obvious that you are trying to stir the pot with those silly comments. However, one point I am lost on. How does taking forfeits at the JV level help you extend your winning streak or pad stats?
  10. I don't see Petrig getting pinned and I think Hayhurst will beat Kemper. Likewise at 120, I don't see Turi hanging with Johnson. Memorials HVY is also a whole lot better than what people on here seem to think.
  11. MD beat Farmington (the Top Rated MO team) 54-11. They beat Trinity by about the same amount. MD closest match so far was Farmington and M-Ville vs MD next round. MD 4-0, Mville 3-1 (lost to CBC)

    84-0

I think my point is that it really is not uncommmon if the top programs really wanted to do this to weaker schools every year. In Evansville, I suspect that MD, Reitz and some years Castle and Memorial could beat Bosse like this. An unassisted triple play in Baseball is rare no matter what schools are competing and involves and incredible amount of luck to go with the skill. Having a school win sectionals with all indivual champs would be more comparable. I know MD did it once,,,not sure if other schools have or not.
  13. Seems like a lot of hard work---good job. What is ironic is that I believe this may accomplish what the IHSAA could never do: 1. State Dual that will be profitable. With 24 teams, that should certainly bring in good numbers of spectators and by bypassing the team regionals that will avoid the expenses with poor attendance at those venues. 2. The class system, with options to bump up should cetrainly capture the top teams. I do recognize that the lower teams (maybe 4-8) could be debated, however, I think the top three teams should be pretty clear. Just as a question, what is the lowest rated team to ever make it to the dual finals (I mean the las match for first/second)? I doubt it has ever been a team that was not in the top 10. I think the dual format has improved the overall quality of wrestling in the state. In the past, teams would focus more on their studs to score in the individual format. MD always placed emphasis in the dual formats and, as a result, dominated the series for the first few years. However, other schools adjusted and put together much better programs top to bottom. Castle, Reitz and Memorial are good examples in the South. I think it also helped to get more schools to pay attention to good feeder programs (especially in the middle schools). I am glad to see the work put into this by the IHSWCA.

    84-0

No offense to any schools but who really cares. Any 84-0 score is obviously a mismatch and any of the top schools could do this year in and out if they desired. Most schools, seeing such a mismatch will usually give JV guys some varsity time. I mean, really, what does 84-0 really prove?
  15. I am not sure on all the details of the proposal, but does it allow for a small school like MD to compete against the top regardless of classe. To be honest, looking at the classed rankings, I would have exactly zero interest in seeing those matchups against MD for the small class.
  16. MD 71 Hannibal 6, MD 63 St. Genevieve 7 MD 45 Merrillville 16 MD 47 Whitfield 13 MD 33 Farmington 21
  17. One thing nobody has really touched on is the venue for team state. Center Grove is a nice gym but unless MD or other schools with a huge fan base make it they draw virtually nobody. If the championship was held in Indy or Evansville or any of the areas where wrestling has a strong following, they would draw crowds regardless of teams. I will not drive to Center Grove to watch anyone other than my own alma mater. However, I would drive to the stadium (or new arena) to watch the championship regardless of who was wrestling.
  18. I was wondering who is on varsity 103 or jv for 103
  19. Who wrestled 103 for retiz today?
  20. Nosko pinned his state finals opponent so he is capable of pinning anyone. At 160...Wildeman wins bt FALL.....easy :-)
  21. 103 Appel, Lannert - Freshman 112 May, Adler - Freshman 119 Schroeder - Sophomore 125 Henderson - Sophomore 130 Weinzapfel - Sophomore 135 Senior 140 Sims - Sophomore (with a strong Dane Maurer as freshman reserve) 145 Senior 152 Senior with a strong freshman reserve (Brandenstein) 160 Senior 171 Boots - Sophomore 189 - HVY Seniors MD has a few holes to fill in the upper weights but this is a young team overall. Plus they have a decent group of 8th graders this year.
  22. MD is a little down...but not much. We could argue that by not wrestling MD or Castle, some of those Region schools haven't wrestled the contenders ;D
  23. I was very dissapointed in the Castle fans yelling loser and "who is going to state". You guys have a great team and should be proud but act like you belong there. Yelling losers to a program that beat you earlier in the year and every time for the past 50 years or so doesn't make much sense. I also thought the Castle father who stood up and walked to the door challenging anyone from MD to step outside was a little classless as well. Keep in mind you son is very good and only a sophomore. Castle graduates a large portion of their team this year and MD will be stronger next year. Castel had only a handful of JV this year as well. You are going to be very lonely in for the next two years sitting in your teams section and might want all those redneck westsiders pulling for your son since he's from our end of the state.
