  2. A big congrats to Indiana Hoosier Matt Powless for winning the 197 open division. Great Job Matt!
  3. well, maybe one good thing that will come out of this is that several coaches who haven't felt the need to attend a coaches clinics in the past will now show up and get involved. Funny how that works.
  4. Coach Wilk....check your personal messages.
  5. Last year we ran some pretty good early preseason specials and it went over pretty well so we are doing it again. Click the link below to see the specials. We have specials on headgear, singlets, and warmups from the biggest names in our sport...Brute, Cliff Keen, and Speedline. Brute - 1. All Sublimated singlets on sale at 2007 pricing....price includes design work on "most" singlets. (see earlier post with link to our showroom to see about a 100 singlets of our design work) 2. All Brute "stock" lycra singlets on sale (includes school logo/name) 3. two specific Brute custom warmups on sale Cliff Keen 1. BUY 12 GET 2 FREE SPECIAL on Signature Headgear....the type worn by most NCAA Programs. 2. All Cliff Keen Custom Warmups on sale...very aggressive price...same warmups worn by Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Air Force..etc.etc. 3. All Cliff Keen "stock" singlets on sale (includes school logo/name) Speedline what do Cathedral, Mater Dei, Perry Meridian, Mishawaka, Avon, Seymour, Castle, Westfield, and many of the other top programs in the state have in common??? They ALL WEAR SPEEDLINE. Speedline in 100% American made in Tampa Florida and they have some of the best quality you will find in custom athletic uniforms in all sports. We offered a Speedling special last year on warmups and singlets and it went over very well. I have worked with Speedline again this year to offer some great pricing once again. If your looking for durable singlets that will last years and years and have the availability to fill in for a lost or stolen singlet or warmup, this is the line for you. The Warmups are special becuase of the spandex seat and crotch in the pants that will not tear out. They are the best designed true wrestling warmup on the market. Teams actually "warm up" in them! The pricing I have these at are very good. All sale prices end August 10th...no exceptions. Take a look at the link below and let me know if I can help. NO BS....you can save some real money if your in the market for these items. Thanks!! heres the link... http://indianamat.com/stuff/eisportsearly2010.pdf Jeff Schaefer EI Sports and Apparel, 812-474-1836
  6. I just updated our sublimated singlets area on our site. It had been several months since I added anything to the showroom. I just added 23 new singlets that we have recently designed and produced for customers. If your looking for something to do, check out the link below and take a look at some of our work. We honestly feel that our design work sets us apart from our competitors and I think this website provides proof of that. I want to thank everyone who continues to do business with us. We are blessed to work with many great friends and people in this great sport and we promise to keep trying our best to help you promote your programs. ALSO....I will be posting several pre-season specials that we will be running on uniforms, warmups, etc. etc. in the next couple weeks as we gear up for the early preseason. Keep checking back for what will be some great deals in the very near future. The earlier you order, the more you can save and the fewer problems you will have with lead times. Heres the link to our showroom I mentioned above.... http://www.grapplersupplies.com/catalog/showroom_samples.php Thanks Jeff Schaefer

  8. Just in case anybody wondered...I want to make it clear that EI Sports DID NOT do Raleys singlet that had the press on name falling off the back of it during the finals. haha. We did, however do ALOT of the singlets that were in use all weekend. I can honestly say that I never looked down on the floor and didn't see at least one singlet we didnt do for somebody. (until the finals..and even then we had several) Thanks to all of the Indiana Wrestling programs who support our business. Its great to work with so many of you. I love my job!
  9. anybody catch the russian female curling team in action friday afternoon? wow!
  10. Unbelievable. On Saturday at Semi-State I was looking up into the crowd and caught a glimpse of a person waving at me. It was Kelly. She always had a huge smile on her face and was an absolute joy to work with. The ENTIRE staff at EI Sports and Apparel has her family in our hearts and prayers. I know how much she did for Jasper Wrestling and I know how much she will be missed by all.
  11. i think they have to pay to park. thats where the extra comes in
  12. a 16 man regional bracket will take the same amount of time as a 16 man semi-state bracket...wouldnt it? I mean its the same tournament. I will give you the fact that there would be a few more pins maybe...but not many. and...a 8 man semistate with full wrestlebacks would definatly take longer than our current 8 man regional set up. So basically your adding more time in the gym overall and not advancing as many kids as far. I know its a long day but with the other shortcomings the IHSAA feeds us, I would never want to go backwards. Get as many kids from as many schools as far as possible in the tournament in my book. Its good for the sport. What about this??? add more mats! I dont see why we are stuck on 4 mats in this state. Anybody ever see the first 2 days of the NCAA's? 8 mats...its a sight that brings tears to my eyes! haha I say bring 8 mats to conseco and make it 32 state qualifiers on friday night. ( i know..thats a whole other issue) Roberts stadium could easily hold 6 mats. What about the other Semi-states? Maybe that would be something worth talking to the IHSAA about. They are all about shortening the long days and they would have to move the event to better venues to hold more mats. Thats one way to get out of the Merriville location.
  13. castle regional 23 total qualifiers and 12 in the finals. SIAC 15 qualifiers and 8 in the finals. Major congrats to Castle on an impressive day! Good Luck to everyone next weekend!
  14. I heard alot of coaches concerned about the lack of experience in the crew assigned to Evansville. I thought they did a great job. I can't say that I remember "noticing" the officials much all day and that is what you want as an official, to be unoticed. They only time I noticed an official was when one had to stop a punch in mid swing. Nice job guys! On another note, I think they need to consider making the semi-state crew 12 officials and putting a 3 man rotation on each mat. Those first two rounds are tough on two guys working non-stop without breaks. At this level of competition, it good for the brain to have some downtime. These guys worked non-stop for 4 hours.
  15. Coach Larry Beaver Mattingly "you don't HAVE to practice today...you GET to practice today!"
  16. I don't know, Powless might step up like last year he wrestled brown.
  17. I would guess he is concerned over the staph and other skin conditions that we are seeing more and more of in our sport. It is a disturbing trend that seems to get a little worse each year. We need to get a better handle on this issue as coaches. As far as issues with competition, he obviously doesn't think the all day saturday tournaments are doing much to grow our sport and make it more wrestler and fan friendly and he probably has a sour taste in his mouth over the issues he sees every year in the state tournament that have ranged from fixing weigh in sheets, to cheating on weight control program issues, to forfeiting or wrestling JV teams in team regionals, etc. etc. the list goes on and on and we continue to do it to ourselves as coaches. It is a love hate relationship the IHSAA has with our sport. These are all issues they dont have to worry about in other sports. Just my two cents...
  18. Not a snow makeup. The AD's from both schools are struggling to find a good date to wrestle this meet due to the SIAC Basketball Tournament and a few other obstacles. Last year we wrestled on a Monday earlier in the year and both coaching staffs wanted it off of a monday night. This was the only available date for this year. Both coaches agreed that this date is better than a monday night after a tough travel weekend for both teams. We'll see if any other options open up next year.
  19. Coach- check your personal messages. I sent you a message. Only color available is white???? something sounds fishy.
  20. does YOUTH wrestling day include high school wrestlers who wear a team tee shirt??
  21. Matt Powless is definetly improving!
  22. Castle and Memorial are from two different school corps. Thus the decisions that are being made. I was just told that evansville Reitz cannot travel tomorrow either. Thats being siad, I just heard from a REALLY good source that Castle is loading the bus and heading to Belmont. WOW, thats great for the fans and programs that will be there toeing the lines tomorrow. Good luck to everyone!!
  23. does anybody have the schedule yet? We (Ev. Memorial) haven't gotten any information on this tournament yet. Either Bellmont hasn't sent it or our AD hasnt gotten it to us. If its floating around out there, can somebody please post the round by round matchups?
