  1. Is this some type of computer virus disguised as brackets? I've been told to watch out for these type of unbelievable links. Thanks for getting them uploaded. At least it's a step in the right direction for the event, even if it came though a second hand method.
  2. They are working on upgrading their communication from the pony express. New technology should help get the word out.
  3. Bloomington North is currently coached by Marty Hutsell who was a two time state champ, multi-time big-10 placed, many coaching accolades in Georgia, and the son of legendary Bloomington coach Kay Hutsell. They may not have the current depth of BSouth, but as far as learning some old school toughness I think they are in good hand with Coach Hutsell.
  4. Yes, family moved to the Bloomington area when Tommy began attending IU. He's having a solid tournament so far. Smith from Bloomington North is another solid move-in pick up that BLN got this season If I recall he comes by way of California. He's also had a nice tournament other than a run in with the older Bailey. On a related moving around note Cash's finals opponent Walendzak started in Bloomington before attending Cathedral.
  5. Runner-up. I remember him losing to some Zane Retherford fella.
  6. The Semis have traditionally been during the early part of Day 2. I don't have the official itenterary in front of me but Day 1 in the past was usually wrestled until the field is narrowed down to the final 8 wrestlers. With Day 2 being the rest of the rounds to finalize the placement.
  7. Two great days of wrestling begins at Mooresville starts up tomorrow. With the depth of teams they have added over the last several years we should see some great matches even on Day 1.
  8. I believe the team involved in setting this up took a lot of suggestions after last year and tried to make it a much more enjoyable environment for this years fans. Glad to hear the positive feedback.
  9. They used to only seed the top 8 positions. Since expanding the number of teams further I'm not sure how far they now seed to but I don't believe they seed all the way out to the 13th or even the 20th spots. Those bracket positions are drawn in which would explain the various records for those spots.
  10. Well in some cases the IHSAA has heard about it through other sources and chosen to investigate even though the previous school signed off.
  11. Brackets are up on trackwresting http://www.trackwrestling.com/predefinedtournaments/VerifyPassword.jsp?tournamentId=239550009
  12. Video link of match. Skip to 3rd period if you want to catch the start of Hughes enforcing his will. http://www.flowrestling.org/video/1029031-165-finals-branson-ashworth-wyoming-vs-drew-hughes-michigan-state
  13. And Indiana's Black Knight wrestling family keeps growing. Good luck young man.

    4. Sometimes one of the rankers doesn't get the update of key wins until after those rankings were been updated.
  15. Cool. I was thinking that maybe a neat concept if a HS has a decent auditorium venue. Good luck with the event.
  16. Thanks for sharing. I knew a decent amount about the Ervin's, but was not previously aware that Memorial's Wedding family was another off shoot of that clan.
  17. One difference is you can you sub someone in during a football game. What happens when you hit your period limit in the 3rd period of a match? Do you FF? How would OT periods work into the time or period count? There are a few additional situations that come up when trying to implement that type of rule into an individual one on one sport.
  18. Yes the same rule exists here. 5 matches per day limit. That is why some of the larger tournament or multi-duals are two days long.
  19. I'd say around 35 matches a years is a reasonable number. To me 25 is a little to low. Unfortunately our sport is an individual one that is strictly one on one for a short time. So it will take several matches and opponents to get he same mat time and face the total number of competitors compared to most other individual sports. Not that its the exact same but just to do some comparisons with other individual IHSAA sports: Tennis get a lot more court time in due to the amount of sets they have in a match. Golf get a lot of additional time due the the number of holes they participate on in each course. So those sports basically gets multiple competitions in each of their meets. If you added up their total number of matches per game/hole it would be very high. Track, cross-country, swimming, gymnastics and golf also can have multiple athletes compete in a meet all at the same time. Which means they can get a lot of competition with less total meets. If you would add up individually how they feared per competitor each heat/apparatus/hole it would be ridiculously high. The limit of our sport being constrained to short one on one competitions means several matches would need to take place to reach a similar amount of competition time and number of competitors compared to most other individual sports.
