  1. Well Fabio you knew it was a done deal when RZA was recruited this morning from EMD to replace Pat Day in the line up. That Tiger Style is hard to stop at 215. Sounds like classic down to the wire Mish vs Penn dual we will be growing accustom too hearing about for the forseeable future.
  2. DD, Thank for keeping up to date on both the college programs around the state and former Indiana HS wrestlers. It great to have all of this information readily available to read over. Wahoo to you.
  3. The AD of the event would be in charge of coordinating that information. He/she is usually the person responsible for find out if any of the participating schools in a contest were unable to have an organized practice today due to weather issues. Then based on that information he/she would then contact the teams involved to explain if a pound allowance was awarded based on the circumstances.
  4. Yup. The play by play basically said the same as the score. Northwestern is a soild team but it sounded like the Hoosier just couldn't find a way to put anything together last night. Even the IU winners did seem to have things going their way. LaBlanc's started out geat but his guy closed the gap to prevent a major, Powless had to battle from behind to get the win, and Alcala had a moble match at HWT but it was far past decided at that part. Hopefully they can find their way back on track at this weekends duals.
  5. I actually thing there are enough former athletic stars with wieght issues they could have probably done some type of special biggest loser competition with an average person and a athlete as partners. That would help boost the rating up a notch as they go into their 10th or so season.
  6. I have had to suffer through a few nights of this show when my wife has the remote and I was doing work. Few things are working against him winning it all. He may have gained in the fat department but he also has a ton of muscle underneath that will hurt him reach the major weight cut numbers. When it comes down to voting the lowest two off many times they remove the person they feel has the start to do the rest of it at home on their own. I'm guessing Rulon will fit into that catagory if placed up against another candidate other participants also like. I would hope by now the other contestants have learned to removed the "athletic" guys early if they have a chance to win since its more a game than a weight loss camp. If not it usually means the "atletic" ones keep working hard, dropping decent numbers, and usually make it to the end. I hope he is able to get himself back to a good weight for his health, but I don't quite see him winning unless the other participants just drop the ball.
  7. The school list is correct with these exceptions Madison and Beech Grove are out Decatur Central and TC Howe are in

  9. I always liked the idea of a list similar to the classic Billboard Music Chart where they had an arrow for those who moved up (no need for all the arrow down adjustments that would then follow) and a different color for the new additions to it. Something visual that stands out and lets a person see the major changes eaier. However, I'm sure that just adds more time to the organizing the list, so I can see why it wouldn't be an ajustment that needs to be done.
  10. This is not the only criteria for determining where to have the Olympic Team Trials. However, USA wrestling has said it is trying to see what area will get the most attendence by seeing what city has fan support. It wouldn't hurt to show your support for someplace close to IN. http://www.usawrestlingnation.com/forum.php/myforum/ Vote located at the top of the International Section.
  11. His girlfriend gave up her toe! She though we'd be getting million dollars! Is not fair!
  12. Yes, I would agree it is definitely a notable one especially if it was a huge scoring difference. But as mentioned that info has to be in the hands of the RC from multiple sources or at least one credable one prior to the updates. It may help him in the next update, but I'm guessing he didn't have it available for this last one. Not sure who is or isn't getting this information in as it occurs, but the more provided the easier its is to make a good decision on how to move people around.
  13. Things like individual and team rankings are somewhat subjective and make it hard to fit into an actual seeding criteria. Yes our individual and team rankings are usually decently put together, but its is still somewhat subjective none the less. The best you could do was convince the other coaches agree to vote (if this is agreed upon before hand) if they believe a wrestlers true ability superseeds the criteria making him deserving of a higher seed. The problem is that true ability may also be a subjective in some people minds which means not all the coaches may vote the same way if they haven't a solid knowledge of that kids ability.
  14. Looks like several of these guys don't have anything listed under Noteable Wins and Losses. This may be the reason the RC hasn't been able to move them up the rankings much and in some cases they have moved slightly down in the rankings. If the information is not their vs. decent opponents he is probably at the point where he has to give some credit to those guys who he has heard has had some solid wins. It makes it hard when only sparadic information comes in so make sure someone valid is getting solid information prior to ranking changes and these guys should get the respect they deserve in the rankings.
  15. Been that way as long as I can recall. The event coordinator several years back said to win the event you must come ready to wrestle from round one all the way through or you can take your chances trying to battle back in the consolations.
  16. I believe in a regular 16 yeam bracket the 7th seed in in the bottom side of the bracket and would face the 2nd seed in the quarter-finals. Also, not sure of all this seeding info, its accuracy, and how it played out. It may be whoever posted the results was confused on the list of seeding. I also know each tournament has its own criteria for seeding that is not exactly the same as the state tournament criteria. Thinks like previous years finish sometimes play a factor. The round robin issue of he beat him who beat him who beat him also end up hurting someone in the brackets and sometimes dropping them farther down than you would expect. I will say some coaches don't speak up because is some cases one seed isn't much difference over all than the one above or below it because of how the tournament plays out. Other times I've notice some coaches like the advantage of being a slightly lower seed and putting out a tough early opponent instead of having them later on. Or coaches insisting on sticking to the exact seeding criteria at one weight but then wanting common sense to prevail over the exact criteria in another weight to get certain kids in place or away from what they feel are dangerous opponents for them to wrestle. Not saying this was the case but its been noticed before.
  17. At least you choose the correct "Do you see what happens" quote Walter.
  18. Dave Schultz was both a great student of the sport and an ambassador for USA wrestling overseas. His contributions are still very much missed today.
  19. We have had a few schools find the support necessary to begin wrestling programs in the last 3 years. But, after the news about the programs approval we rarely hear much about their establishment and growth. How are some of the youngest programs doing at getting their teams underway?
  20. Time to remember the year that has passed. From NCAA competition, to Senior level mathups, to International competition. What are the top College and International Stories involving Indiana wrestlers this past year?
  21. Time to recall the year that has past. From memorable individual matchups, to State Finals titles, to Team State, to the Summer wrestling sucess. What are the top Indiana High school or USA Wrestling stories of this past year?
  22. Not sure I can quite afford the super extended network package that would include Iowa public TV. But good thing they stream the channel online. http://www.iptv.org/wrestling/story.cfm/story/cwr_20101209_3102/video
  23. We had this happen last weekend to one of our kids. Then the ref realized our kid had a full mouthpiece that covered both the top and bottom teeth making it almost impossible to bit someone during a match. I assume the scratch or mark came from catching a part of his braces that may have become exposed as he was trying to breath from his mouth. It a very subjective thing for a ref to determine if a bit occured or a crossface was pushing into the teeth caused by an open mouth. Guess it depends how clear the marks actual are.
  24. I'm going with a slow tactical pace at first. Neither of them wants to do something and get caught after the talk and TUF hype. Then GSP will find his opening and unleash enough of a ground and pound to stop the fight. GSP has mentioned more than once this is closing a chapter in his career. I'm not sure if its his way of just saying he's over worrying about Kos for good or its a hint he may be moving to another weight since their isn't much left for him where he currently is.
  25. Ours at least covers the even. But not near as much detail, article space, and promotion as our basketball and football teams (which have seen many better days) gets.
