  1. For all intensive purposes Oak Park is suburb/village area (same with River Forest) is within the greater Chicago area. They may have their own specific town setup and like the sense of independence, but basically is engulfed in Chicago in a similar way to Speedway or Broad Ripple have with Indianapolis. If you prefer by or right outside Chicago though, I guess I can go that route. But yes, a super power house team with most of their starters in the national rankings or at least honorable mentions. Penn will definitely have their hands full. If I recall correctly Carmel wrestled them at an event last year.
  2. Oak Park River Forest out of Chicago. Probably the top team in the nation last year and again this season. Their long time head coach Mike Powell (volunteer coach now) was a former IU wrestler. He's been featured in several articles as he battles a degenerative muscle disease.
  3. WNO is a very recent addition to the elite level folkstyle events, none of the others mentioned would have a chance to add it to their resume. However, a few other HS folkstyle events that IN kids can attend or be invited to maybe comparable to winning two big matches at WNO: -Winning the older version of NHSCA Senior Nationals when that was the only major Folkstyle post season event around. Obviously, the more recent versions have been very watered down. -Winning a deep bracket at Super 32 of FloNationals where you would have seen a few highly ranked kids in the last few rounds. (Note Red has these on his resume too) -Winning a USA All-Star or Dapper Dan All-Star match against a top ranked opponent. (Red is on track to add one or maybe two of these to his resume too)
  4. Red post match interview http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252401-2015-Whos-1/video/798268-Chad-Red-Relies-On-Defense-To-Stay-1#.ViMkJ1X3anM
  5. Red achieving the victory. https://mobile.twitter.com/FloWrestling/status/655564657009303552/photo/1
  6. Red wins over Pletcher with 3 sec. left in a crazy scramblfest multiple OT matches. He definitely earned the #1 spot. These guys put on a show for the crowd and one of the best athletic performances I've ever seen. I'm guessing these wins may move Red into the Top 5 HS pound for pound discussion. To beat Red you are going to have to have perfect execution of technique or bring the kitchen sink.
  7. Big with for Pletcher over a very hot Diakomihalis fresh off a Cadet World Title. It should be a great final match with Red and Pletcher.
  8. Fabio Jr. Making sure Red understands that the #1 spot is always up for grabs. https://t.co/ZkHn88Z46d For those that don't have FloPro the Indiana Mat has spared no expense to send their elite reporting staff out to cover the event. Check the Twitter feed for updates.
  9. Marinelli wins 17-6. Hughes just wasn't able to get his offense off against a relentless Marinelli. There is a reason this guy in #1 at his weight and top 10 in the P4P rankings. Still a great experience/honor for Hughes, and something that will help make him an even tougher wrestler this season.
  10. Red's pre-event press-conference. http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252401-2015-Whos-1/video/797593-Chad-Red-Wants-To-Avoid-Lamonts-Greco-Skills#.ViGK1VX3anM
  11. Thanks for the correction. It's a Friday and Saturday, so I was thinking tomorrow for some reason. But yes, take it to him Drew.
  12. Reminder that Hughes is taking on #1 Alex Marinelli in Iowa this Saturday in the main Event match of the Night of Conflict.
  13. This Saturday 10/17 132 is the highlight match of the event with a top 4 battle. #1Red has the first match of the night against #4 LaMont. If he wins he will have the final match against the winner of #2Luke Pletcher and #3 Yanni Diakomihalis. Here is the entire line-up. It also includes former Indiana youth wrestler Gable Steveson who is in Minnisota now. http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252401-2015-Whos-1/article/35627-2015-Whos-No-1-Line-up#.Vh8N3lX3anM
  14. Here is Flo's keys to victory video for Red's first matchup vs. Taylor LaMont. http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252401-2015-Whos-1/video/797538-WNO-Keys-To-Victory-Chad-Red-vs-Taylor-LaMont#.Vh8J2lX3anM
  15. ESPN is doing a Foxcatcher documentary as part of their 30 for 30 series. Oct. 20 is he original air date. Here is the preview. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=13880745 Really wish they would focus a part of it on Dace Schultz life as an beloved international ambassador of the sport, but for those outside wrestling Duponts spiral into madness is considered the more interesting piece.
  16. Live goes between Red and HS top 10 nationally ranked Kanen Storr from Minnisota http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252425-2015-OPRF-Combine/video/797394-Chad-Red-and-Kanen-Storr-Going-Live#.VhsllFX3anM http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252425-2015-OPRF-Combine/video/797390-Kanen-Storr-And-Chad-Red-Live-Go#.VhsmjVX3anN And with Jake Walker http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252425-2015-OPRF-Combine/video/797392-Chad-Red-and-Jake-Walker-Working-On-Mat-Wrestling#.VhsmYFX3anN And with HS top 5 nationally ranked Mitchell McKee from Minnisota http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252425-2015-OPRF-Combine/video/797386-Chad-Red-And-Mitchell-McKee-Mix-It-Up#.Vhsm1FX3anN Finally a Interview with Chad Red about his Who's #1 matches. http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252425-2015-OPRF-Combine/video/797397-Chad-Red-Looking-Forward-To-Challenge-At-Whos-1#.VhslnFX3anM
  17. Chad Red showing some crazy gymnastic defense vs. Chris Dardanes (U of Minn.) at OPRF Combine http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252425-2015-OPRF-Combine/video/797045-Chad-Red-Scraps-With-Chris-Dardanes#.Vhm04VX3anM And another video with Red appearing halfway through vs. Dardanes. This also includes Illinois HS stand out Isaiah White vs. the other Dardanes brother. http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252425-2015-OPRF-Combine/video/797048-Chad-Red-and-Isaiah-White-Against-Dardanes-Brothers#.Vhm2rFX3anM
  18. This preview details some good wrestlers but it looks like the Jeffersonville Sectional preview rather than the Jeffersonville Regional.
  19. He is also listed as #20 on last years final pound for pound rankings (still up now), so hopefully he can climb a little higher on that list too.
  20. http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252401-2015-Whos-1/article/35597-WNO-Announcement-132-Pound-Match-up-Set#.VgCEs4r3anN
  21. Here is the FloWrestling write up on it. http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/251734-Wrestling-News-and-Updates/article/35622-Hoosiers-Land-Coveted-Big-Man#.Vf2yTor3anM
  22. I think he was going by the lost of total available seating numbers (added removable seating), which is slightly different than the total fixed seating numbers. For available seating it's commonly listed as: 1. NC 2. ECC 3. Seymour 4. Richmond 5. Marion Anderson's Wigwam is no longer in use as a high school gym so doesn't make the official list any more.
