  1. If a kid has no coach, he probably isnt going to learn much. If he isn't learning, what is the point of competing? Move the match back as a courtesy to the KID not the coach. If the coach doesn't want to wait then too bad, he can wait on the mat until his kid's match comes back up.
  2. In two words... Who Cares. This is about as bad as the posts about 'who was the best to never make it to state.' They didn't make it, so who cares. They are 1a...so who cares..... unless there is a new class system..then I might care!! haha had to throw that one in there.
  3. Sweet. Then I could 'invisible' Clive. On an opinion site why wouldn't you want to see other's opinions? The stupid ones are the funniest.
  4. This was the very last topic on the board; page 60. Thought I would bring it back to the front, just because I can!
  5. I had to laugh as i found this quite ironic. Most of the fans at tournaments are trash! haha
  6. Situation...poor situation. You can Gym Tan Laundry all you want. The wildcat is busy with Wrestle Gym Wrestle. Anyhow... Like him or hate him.... I am becoming a Duck and Run Fan. That guy is funny.
  7. After stumbling upon 'the situation' I began to wonder.... what are the worst screen names we have had on this board? Obviously my vote is going to the 'situation,' with his stupid picture attached.
  8. I know, this post is a bit boring for some as I usually stir up controversy. However, I genuinely am curious if anyone has any good links, articles, or books on nutrition specifically to do with wrestling, or weight cutting. ie-not weight loss in general, or weight loss for fatties! Perhaps some athlete nutrition, that sort of thing. Thanks to anyone who posts.
  9. I will second that rule so that I constantly BOO you for having the name "situation." ..Perhaps twice for having a photo to boot!
  10. HAHAHA. Hopefully some were just misinterpreting the question! Some of these programs are a flat out joke - if you are calling them up and comming. Perhaps you should post them to a "teams improving" thread. Ha
  11. If it was a distraction to his son, perhaps stopping the posts when his son is out is a little late? Anyhow, I liked his comments. What does his son moving on have to do with his opinions?
  12. These mean absolutely nothing. They can be interpreted in 1o0 different ways. 103 could be highest win % because they have a ton of forfeits, and there is such a disparity between the couple of good wrestlers, and all the inexperienced or bad wrestlers at this weak weight. The other weights could have lower % because they are all good, and beat each other throughout the season. Just two examples !
  13. Looks like he will have a new opponent at 119? unless this is a misprint from the IHSAA. If anyone has information please post it to the other post on 119 bracket changes.
  14. I have further evidence now! http://www.ihsaa.org/dnn/portals/0/ihsaa/documents/sports/boys/wrestling/2009-10/0910%20Individual%20State%20Brackets.htm The 119 weight class has been changed on the official IHSAA website. Can someone tell me what happened? Looks like the HSE kid is out??
  15. Nickster is dead on. Riding time is nothing near a stall. Perhaps the best example of this right now is Brent Metcalf. Watch Iowa's next meet and tell me if it looks like his 'stalling' while he racks up the riding time.
  16. The wildcat is hearing rumors of changes to two weight classes. The most reliable change I am hearing is at 119. can anyone speak to this?!
  17. Cannot be done. While it IS good in theory, it is not possible. Here is why - Too difficult for regular meets and tournaments for somone to keep a seperate clock of riding time, as most scoreboards do not accomodate two-clocks. If somone is keeping this extra time by hand, the coaches AND wrestlers do not have access to see it. Of course if you cannot see riding time, it could greatly affect matches, or even team meets if bonus points become a factor.
  18. Couture by knockout. Coleman is good, but has shown his cardio to be suspect at best over the years. Couture is comming off of a victory over a great up and commer, while Coleman eeked one out against a nobody. ( ...I know the forest fight.. ) He is still a nobody in the UFC.
  19. Yeah. I could not believe how many people just started agreeing with that guy! O well. Let's all unite in the Jay County fiasco, check out the link "Post to show your support" for more info.
  20. Oh man. Did Decbell and the Wildcat just agree on somthin????
  21. WOW. I am shocked by the replies to this!!! 1st - "We as adults have to teach our children that they have to accept the decision of authority figures." This is exactly the opposite of american; perhaps communist!! If you follow this logic we would still have slavery and women would not be allowed to vote. 2nd - Making up statistics to prove your point is a little weak. The high school kids "may have been 100lbs bigger." Who knows, the middle school kid may have been bigger!! Don't just make things up! 3rd - We dont know the whole story, so it's really hard to make a decision. If the high school kids were bullies, then good. If they were just trying to push the kid a little harder to make him better (and the future of their high school better) then kudos to the High School kids.
  22. OK. I have to be the voice of reason here. Just wrestle. Sometimes things don't work out, or you get an actual bad draw. Maybe this is even a bit shady. However, to win a state championship, you have to beat the best in your weight class. It just so works out. Each kid will wrestle, and we will get a winner. No one is going to 'default' or play any stupid stratgey games. You all play too much playstation and forget old fashioned 'put a whoopin' on em' wrestlin'. They will wrestle the matches, we will get a winner. P.S. This is not nearly as bad as some of the tough match-ups that have randomly occured over the years at the 'match to go' at semi-states before.
  23. I was not trying to put down to Decatur. I was just trying to start a discussion on how we can make this better, or learn from this mistake. It seems some posts are mixing things together. This is not ISWA, and I'm aware of the fact that things happen that shake up the seeding and such. If they need help running it, they need to ask other schools to help. Not having a 'family' is an excuse. You want to run the tournament, then get the number of people you need to help. However, this is a pretty big tournament, and starting an HOUR late is simply unacceptable. As for the finals, getting "out of there at a pretty decetn time," was the problem. You have to set a time, and stick with it if you want fans to come watch. I doubt a county tournament for basketball starts an hour or so early, EVER.
