  3. With the seeding of the team state duals being based largely on the coaches rankings, and as a guy who votes in the rankings it would help greatly to be able to have a focused thread about what the 1A Team State teams have done. I haven't seen results from several of the teams, and this week we will vote for the top ten again, and I would like to be able to compare schedules and results to know how I am voting. I am at fault too, as I haven't put results on the page yet (managers will get them on there on Monday). Anyhow I think it would help to know what each team has done. Also please if you feel your team has done pretty well this year and could be ranked even though they aren't in the team state competition please add them to the list (we saw Central Noble, and Prairie Heights yesterday and both were pretty impressive, and have teams that should be considered for the top ten. Ill update this list as it gets information gets added, a post like mine below would be great for every team, but any info would be appreciated. 1A Teams West Central Clinton Central (1-4) Wins Taylor Losses Kokomo, Hamilton eights, Western, Sb St. Joe Fremont Churubusco (4-2) Wins- Angola, West Noble, Fairfield, Prairie Heights Losses- Fremont, and Columbia City South Adams South Putnam Adams Central Bremen Non- Team State Woodlan 4-3 Wins- Bluffton, South Adams, Union City, Eastbrook Losses- Bishop Dwenger, Jay County, Delta North Knox 4-1 Wins- Lawresnceville (ILL) EV. 4. its based on the total number of schools, divided by three, so there is no specific size, just each third of the enrollments. the number ends up being somewhere between 550 and 600 i believe. also sorry about my lack of punctuation, my phones keyboard wont capitalize on here. does anyone else have that problem/ or know what i could do to change it/ my question mark wont work either... any spelling errors are all on me.
  5. We have a little money in our account and are looking to get some training equipment up in our room to help with the monotony that can come with training. Just wondering what you all would recommend. Mainly looking at stuff like: Dummies, Bulgarian training bags, sand bags, heavy bags, resistance bands, heavy ropes... open to any new ideas as well.
  6. Are you being sarcastic? I saw previews didn't look like the worst movie ever, I am pretty wary of WWE films though. ESPN classic was playing "On the Mat". It is narrated by Chris Pratt, who plays Andy on "Parks and Rec." He wrestled for Lake Stevens High School, that is the team that the documentaty is about, it was pretty good. ESPN has one called "The Season: Iowa wrestling" its on youtube, it is in my opinion the best wrestling documentary out there. This is a little off topic, but "Warrior" is an MMA film, and is actually really well done. Nick Noltie got nominated for an Oscar for it. Tom Hardy stars in it too, its a really good movie, his character has a wrestling background if nothing else.
  7. Any CC fans know of any wrestlers having success this season on the Cross Country courses? We always focus on how wrestling and football go hand and hand, but those CC kids have great wind, and work ethic.
  8. This is an interesting question. What if the football coaches let the kid practice wrestling during their season, then could he play both? You can participate in both wrestling and basketball, so why not tow sports in different seasons? Again this would mean that both coaches would have to share the athelete, and he would have to go to double the practices.
  9. Dont forget about the other 16 teams that will also be there. 2A Yorktown Danville Western Leo Twin Lakes New Prarie North Montgomery Lebanon 1A Adams Central South Adams West Central Clinton Central South Putman Bremen Fremont Churubusco
  10. Two more Al Hartman SB Clay Larry Mattingley- EV Memorial Not sure if they are still coaching but these two are in... Scott Schwaz- EC Otis Cress- Frankton
  11. Are you including this years inductees on your list?
  12. Pretty cool story about how it got done. http://deadspin.com/penn-state-and-iowa-wrestling-coaches-schedule-meet-on-1265777772
  13. This seems like a cool concept. Does Agon have a website? I was able to find info out on mma sites, and some wrestling sites, but no stand alone Agon site.
  14. Any rumors on where these schools are heading? I heard something on the radio about Triton leaving conferences, but didn't catch all of it.
  15. Ok so flipping through the book briefly I had a few things catch my eye. I don’t know if they are new or not, or If I am seeing them wrong, but these items never seem to get called, or are new. 1. Rules Book- Illustrations- page 73 70. (7-1-51) This appears to be what we at Churubusco call a "chin rip" I see this all the time, our guys run them, I remember Weber from Leo and Rimmel from Central Noble running this move very effectively. So is this a new rule, or does it just not get called? Is it not illegal if you step through and try to throw with it? 2. Rules Book- Illustrations page 74 71. (7-1-51) This also appears to be a chin rip, but the head is not twisted, thus should be called potentially dangerous, again I never see it called, or is it new? 3. Case Manual- Page 86. Stalling in offensive positions Typical holds contribute to stalling in the advantage position b. double leg grapevine for riding only. This is another thing that happens often. More of referees interpretation than anything, but when a guy is riding legs on top I cannot recall the last time I have seen them called for stalling. Stalemates get called here all the time, but very rarely is it called stalling? Anyone know why? Look forward to seeing what others think.
  16. I just received my new rulebook/ case book and manual from the IHSAA. I figured that there could be some useful discussion that could come from these arriving in the mail this week, so I’m going to put the rules revisions and point of emphasis from the poster on this post, then a couple of questions that I had from flipping through the books after that. I think a rules book discussion could do some good. Rules Revisions 1. The rules language regarding the use of electronic devices and video recording was standardized 2. Forfeits are no longer considered as matches wrestled when considering the limit of five matches in one day 3. Beginning with the 2014-15 wrestling season, if hair covers are worn, they must be attached to the ear guards 4. Although a wrestler has the option of using an artificial limb during competition, if the wrestler chooses to weigh-in with the artificial limb, he or she shall wear the artificial limb during competition at all times. 5. New rules language was approve for a bad-time situation that involves not being given the choice of positions after the two-point stalling call during a match. Points of Emphasis Communicable diseases Skin Checks and weigh-ins in multiple-day competitions End-of-Match Procedure Assistant Referee Responsibilities
  17. Couple of questions First isn't Hayden Lee back? I haven't seen him in any of the rankings and I would consider him the favorite no matter what weight he was at. Second is Woenker the 32 from Northrop last year? He is a fine wrestler and I have no doubt that he will be right there in the mix for all of the predications that I have seen, but it seems that a lot of people are really high on him this season, not shocked, just a bit surprised. Did he have a big offseason to go along with his previous accomplishments?
  18. I was thinking this morning, and started to wonder how dominant these three were all through high school. Obviously they were undefeated for four years which is very dominant, but did they destroy everyone their freshmen years? Were there any times they came close to being defeated? What about later in their career? I know that Angel lost to a guy from out of state, I couldn't remember if he had another loss at some point or not. I never saw Ellis wrestle, so I have no clue on him. I watched Tsirtsis and Escabedo at state all four years, and cant recall them having any really close matches there, but honestly I cannot recall any individual matches they have, so they could have won like a 1 point match as freshmen in the finals and I wouldn't recall it. So anyhow who, in state, came the closest to beating these guys during high school. Btw I don't care if it was a tuesday meet in the middle of the season or the state finals, I just want to gage how dominant they were all the way through.
  19. Thats not really a prediction, more of a fact.
  20. You just hit the nail on the head with that one!
  21. I have never seen this topic, and to be honest I don't really have an opinion that I feel educated enough to put out here, so what are some others opinions?
  22. This should get some good debate going. 1. EVMD 2. Bloomington (South) 3. Perry Meridian 4. Bellmont 5. Lawrence North
  23. Im board so i'm gonna start a few other greatest ever posts as they seem to be all the rage these days. Im gonna go with 1928 Wabash, they did it without a coach. Actually i'd have to say 2002 EVMD. What say you?
