  1. Being from Toledo---Central has a very good program. Typically strong top to bottom.
  2. HSE lost one starter. They tied LN last year in a great dual. My understanding is that they picked up Morgon (the freshman from Minnesota). I think they will have a top 5 team this year.
  3. Mitch at 182? Expect him at 196---sophomore to junior year is a growing year
  4. I saw Mitch was 5-0----any new updates with him?
  5. I wonder if you could combine 3 sectionals and send a ballot to those teams to vote for their top two or three teams. A coach could be responsible for tallying the votes. The idea would be to send the best team to represent them. We could have coaches that want to be considered do a writeup on their team to be part of the ballot per say. I would think the coaches would vote honestly. Each first place vote worth 5, second worth 3 and third worth one. The highest vote getters in the two classes moves on. Combine two individual sectionals and back it up one week. So basically regional and sectional get combined-----top 4 onto semi-state State duals are then held the weekend of Sectionals First year have two class divisions for the state duals
  6. I think HSE will have a top 5 team this coming year.. Even based on last year statistics.
  7. Ohio has used previous results from the past year the past 7-8 years. They pull 8 teams (based on accomplishments of returning wrestlers) and hold a dual meet tournament AT THE END OF jANUARY. mY UNDERSTANDIS THEY ARE ABORTING THAT AND INTRODUCING SOMETHING NEW THIS COMING YEAR.. oopS accidently hit the caps button---not shouting I promise:)
  8. would it be possible to use the same number of mats and do 1/2 the weightclasses the first half of the day and then the other half the second half?
  9. As an official at the event I appreciated the excellent table help. They were great all day and their moods stayed upbeat. That made our job, as officials, much easier. I agree---at least in the fieldhouse----That mats had next to no downtime. Great wrestling all day and for the most part awesome sportsmanship:)! I appreciate the time and efforts that volunteers for these type events make
  10. There are more than twice as many high schools in Ohio than in Indiana. I would go with two classes for team state vs 3. I hear Ohio will be introducing a new team state format next year where all teams are in it---not sure how they are doing it though. if you used two classes for Individual as well you could have a dual meet with each divisions state champs
  11. look for Smiley at Cathedral and Morgon to HSE ( wow---what an addition to an already stacked team)
  12. Is Brock Morgan going to Fishers or HSE? what is his projected weight?
  13. Congrats go out to Chad Redd and his team. Outstanding event with outstanding competition. Alot of hard work went into this---yes it was a long day----But outstanding work!! Thank you
  14. I would start the seasonafter Thanksgiving, Start competing in January, and have the state tournament the first week of March. That would allow wrestlers and their families better holiday time and it could increase interest in our sport----as we would be more in the dead of winter. It allows football players a bit of a break as well. I understand that could put a kink into spring sports.
  15. I really think we might have bigger challenges blooming. Recently this month I have officiated three duals where a school is being faced with pay to play---in some cases $200 a sport. One school had no bus and kids has to get to the away match on their own. In all three cases their numbers were 1/3 than what they normally would be. Granted this is at the junior high level----but as kids are forced to choose their sport we might see numbers fall in many programs.
  16. I was going for HSE---they have had a great season. They did not get the best of draws at semi state----112 might be their best bet for a state birth. 152 and 160 are very deserving but they are in with willis and Johnson
  17. LN should get the next 3---though I am not seeing bonus points. look for LN to be up by 1 or 2 going into 135. I give the edge at 135 to HSE giving them the dual----could be pretty awesome for them.
  18. I have HSE winning at 285, 112 is up for grabs, and HSE will win at 135----I think HSE's bonus points win this dual.
  19. wow---look for HSE to win next 3 weights---
  20. I thought Noblesville won conference at 130, At 135 Gadient was winning by 7-8 when Tatum pinned him. Though Tatum can go with anyone and I believe he can beat Gadient. At 140 they have had tight matches.
  21. Noblesville is capable of winning 103, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 189, and 215. I would also pick HSE as they are wrestling very well. I am just saying Noblesville has the ability to match up Both teams lineups are very different from earlier in the year.
  22. I think the way HSE and Noblesville match up is interesting. ( look for 103 and 125 to be the deciders) I also think if HSE gets thru they could surprise Law North
  23. Good luck to HSE Wednesday at the dual meet tournament vs Noblesville and possibly Lawrence North.. The Royals really wrestled well yesterday and deserve the title. We have seen them four times this year and they have gotten better each time. Represent Hoosier Crossroads conference and the Zionsville Sectional!! Fishers wrestling
  24. Gray (fishers) beat Rojas from Huntington---my understanding is Rojas beat Newkirk from Lawrence Central
  25. my predictions 103---lile ( fishers) vs beldon ( Westfield)---winner at regional could be statebound----Mantel could be a spoiler as he will be 2nd seed most likely (3 ranked 103's) 112 Gray (Fishers) vs Snyder (Hse)---I will predict that the winner of this match at regional is a state qualifier---neither has been mentioned in polls--though both were semi-state qualifiers last year. HSE has won both meetings---the second one being 1-0----but not a boring 1-0 match 119--Julian Leb vs winner of Sipher, HSE---HSE won previous match up and should be seeded 2nd. 125 Sommer Carmel vs ? Campbell Leb ---- Fishers could slip in---has been hot n cold this year 130--Parnham Carmel vs Campbell lebanon 135---Tatum vs----perhaps Zionsville/ Westfield/ Carmel could sneak in----after Tatum good parity 140---Brady White vs potentially Madden from Fishers---Brady won previous match up 9-6 145 Scurria / Carmel vs T Montes--Fishers---Sounds like Rossville is a candidate as well 152 Irick vs Zionsville--Fraughlinger---great match first time--Van Camp from Leb is also here 160--Anderson Carmel vs Neiburger (HSE) or Max Youngs ( Zionsville)---ranked 6,7, and 8---I expect Anderson to get the number one seed---though I think Zionsville is also undefeated 171--If HSE drops --I see him, Westfield, and Carmel (Anderson) 189 Probably Westfield vs Fishers 215 Carmel, Fishers 285 Westfield and Frankton? or is is Frankfort?---Fishers and HSE have very good 285's---Not sure if Carmel will be back from injury or not Again---I do not know how the other 6 teams are in this Sectional--- I know nothing about any of them---I do expect them to put up a few finalists---sounds like Rossville at 145 might be one example-----Clinton Central, Rossville, Clinton Prarie, Frankton, and Western Boone --I believe are the 5 others---not sure who I am missing. Dino Brigade is correct-----some very good wrestlers will not get out of this Sectional. I do think it is a 4 team race with each team advancing 8-10 to regionals-----On paper Carmel will be the team to beat with a potential 6 finalists ( All could win it)- HSE is very solid and just about every guy in their line up could place top 6. I think they placed 11 at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference. The winner of this sectional will probably meet Noblesville first round of the state duals.
