  1. I see this as a way for student-athletes with poor grades to essentially drop out, get all A's from mom and dad, and still get to compete athletically. This doesn't help anyone, it doesn't save money, it's just another attack on public education by Mitch and the Superintendent of Private Education.
  2. Wrestlebacks from Regional on and going back to taking 2 from Sectional.
  3. I'm 6' tall and the coach is a loveseat. And I had to share with the dog. I showed her though, she wasn't invited to semi state this year! She should have known though, our second date was to State 4 years ago.
  4. Fewest teeth and most unshod children per capita goes to the Bloomington WalMart.
  5. Take out the "Big 4" for Griffith and how do they do? They were absolutely fantastic there for a few years while those guys were around, if Jason Tsirtsis had stayed there they could be back again. Practice partners make a world of difference.
  6. Last year I took my wife to Semi State for Valentine's Day. I even bought her nachos. I slept on the couch that night.
  7. Oh duh, I remember now. I thought there was some way to do it and people were that misguided to actually hold their kids back in middle school to give them a better shot at athletics. I've known people who did it pre-K though, so I shouldn;t be surprised.
  8. I've said it before and I'll say it again, there's a growing disparity between studs and the average wrestler. Go to a meet and truly watch objectively, even at the semistate level. Poor stances, little to no setup, and sloppiness all around. Now go watch Illinois and Ohio and you see far less of it. There's too little focus on basic mechanics and technique, more on conditioning and trying to get enough guys out to get a full roster.
  9. I say you try a tire rotation and see how the bracket looks. If nothing else put a book under one corner and call is good enough.
  10. A few wrestlers don't really mean a team is a powerhouse does it? Griffith did very well with them, but no so much any more. If I had to say the top teams over the last decade I would say Lowell, Crown Point, Portage, Merrillville, Mishawaka. Hobart is another team that has had some real studs, but I don't know I would say they're a powerhouse, though I'm at a loss as to why not.
  11. Not the case at all, most people will say Merrillville regardless of where they live. Also, Matre Dei goes through Evansville and Lawrence North goes through New Castle. And Griffith? I'm lost here.
  12. This is a ridiculous discussion. They should be allowed to get their inhaler and go back to wrestling. Brock Norton was allowed to get his juice because he was diabetic, I don't know of anyone whining that he did what he needed to to stay healthy. On the flipside I have known people who used empty inhalers when they weren't asthmatic to just get a break. The coaches knew as well. As with all cases like this there will be the sleazy taking advantage of the system, don't punish everyone for them though.
  13. I'm lost, is this allowed? Are you just being sarcastic? I've been up for 7 hours now, maybe that's the problem, but this makes no sense.
  14. I would have to agree wholeheartedly. When I was little a fan was removed for throwing a trash can at the opposing team. I've seen parents yelling, cussing, spitting at their kid's opponent (I was the target of some of those myself). There are the teams you can always count on to be classless and yell and harass the other teams' kids. Last year at a tournament there were a group of parents who you could smell alcohol on from 10 feet away and kept taunting and trying to picks fights with the opposing wrestlers. It was at their place though and the cop standing next to them just smiled and did nothing. Teams and coaches: Nothing but respect for the work they put in. Fans: Mixed bag of great people and nutjobs.
  15. The brackets worked out in such a way that the 152 and 160 finals could potentially both be Welch vs Lefever. Has this ever happened before?
  16. 7 champs were from the Jay County regional as well as 14 of the 28 in the finals. Very impressive numbers.
  17. And going in a champ is very impressive too. I think he's been underestimated this year.
  18. #4 Logan-Mishawaka over #1 Henderson-Munster #4 Lane-Lewis Cass over #1 Smith-Munster Munster even has a good schedule and just drops 2 regional champs, that's a huge surprise!
  19. Riedling - WC over Blanton - Alexandria 11-9 Moore - Fountain Central over Klinesmith - PM 3-1 Walker - Alexandria over Danenport - Ben Davis 8-4 Pyke - Tri Central over Louzon - Beech Grove 12-4
  20. #1 Baron Reiker going down and #1 Castro got beat 6-2 by alternate Tim Dunkel from Gibson Southern.
  21. I thought that's what they did to Jim West last year even though it was a bogus call, they didn't want to undermine the officials.
  22. WHAT?! I picked a good time to leave the room, geez. DeLaney is a good wrestler, but I doubt anyone but him saw that coming.
