  1. And (as a recent grad and a teacher now) the best bet is to focus on doing well in high school too so college really does pay for itself. I managed to get the majority of my college paid for and be an NCAA athlete. Purdue and IU weren't interested in giving me much money and I wouldn't have gotten to be involved in athletics, or get the quality of education. Excellent points nkraus, I hope high school guys are reading this and take it to heart.
  2. I went to Manchester, a D3 with both great wrestling and top notch academics. What you guys is saying is right on. We would always, half jokingly, say that D1 was for people who wanted the money now and D3 was for people who wanted the academics so they could make the money for the rest of their career. There are great opportunities in all divisions, academics should be priority 1, and if a D1 school is willing to help pay and you wouldn't be able to otherwise, then that's great for those men.
  3. At this point of the year nobody can "walk through." Anyone can wrestle like a beast and win big.
  4. Well Snatch, from what I've seen KoKo rips on Yorktown a lot and Goul, and a lot of others don't appreciate it. This has just been what it seems like to me.
  5. Wow, are you being serious? I don't see them beating Mishawaka this year, but they're a very solid team with excellent athletes and coaches, try showing some respect.
  6. This thread already exists: http://indianamat.com/messageboard/index.php/topic,524.0.html
  7. That's an amazing tradition. Is there a record somewhere of who went each year since they started it this way, I was wondering how many unique teams have gone.
  8. That would make an almost unstoppable team. 3 great teams of coaches, a lot of athleticism, and great technical skills. Doubt it will happen though, but to save money of 3 buildings it might be down the road.
  9. I think they meant in a team regional event, but that was just a comment made to me in passing. Even if it were half true it's an impressive feat. The roads are fine in these parts right now...And Bellmont was underdog twice in one day this year when they faced Mishawaka and Perry Meridian. To say 39 years is far fetched. Since the start of the Team State format, I'd say they have never been the underdog for regionals or semi-state. The only loss was in '97 to Wawasee at semi-state. I guess back in 2003, people were thinking that Yorktown had a shot at knocking Bellmont out. But Bellmont fired back with Brandon Scherer beating state runner up Erik Johnson, and pulled out the swing matches to win by 20+ points.
  10. I heard a rumor this is the first time in 39 years Bellmont has gone in the underdog. Any truth there? Also, how is the weather in Monroe, any more snow?
  11. I never had a bad experience, went for 14 years driving almost 100 miles. The directors were always nice and there was rarely a glitch. Maybe I enjoyed it because I went to see some great wrestling and didn't expect box seats with a recliner.
  12. Mishawaka Cathedral Crown Point New Castle Yorktown Perry Meridian Castle Delphi Yorktown/Bellmont, Crown Point/Merrillville, Castle/Mater Dei should all be close and very good matches, wish I could be 3 places at once.
  13. Fodrea (Winchester) over King (Muncie South) 8-5. King was 30-1 coming in today.
  14. Team: 1. Yorktown - 348 2. Winchester - 260 3. Muncie Central - 190 4. Muncie South - 152.5 5. Daleville - 131 6. Delta - 115 7. Randolph Southern - 77 8. Wes-Del - 69 9. Wapahani - 52 10. Monroe Central - 40
  15. I always loved Market Square. Easy to get cheap food, better seating in my opinion too.
  16. Friday night is always my second favorite, Saturday night under the lights is my favorite, I've only missed a couple times since I was 6. You see who has more composure and heart, who holds back. That's when the hardest trained come out on top. And someone voted for Christmas Morning?
  17. I'm in Delaware County right now. It made the Decatur papers when the county said they couldn't afford salt, so it would just be the major roads getting salted. What's the new rule state on the weight allowance for missed days?
  18. I'm not confident in a lot of schools being in, we have 13 inches and lots of wind here, plus the county doesn't have the money to salt the roads this year. I live by the highway and I've heard sirens all day. We have a 2 hour delay so far, but I'll bet it gets called if the wind keeps up. I can't imagine them canceling sectional unless there's a power loss though.
  19. It sure is! We had guitars ready for that final scene and blasted it loud.
  20. Haha, I had forgotten that. Ahhh, memories...
  21. It bordered on arrogance, he was telling all the media about how he could beat Tsirtsis easy, and how he would be the one to end Alex's winning streak. If he wanted to bump down for a chance at greatness fine, but don't go making claims you can't back up. Never met English, might be a great guy, but the way he went about the run to state that year wasn't fun to watch.
  22. Garrett and Whitko will come down to who can get more pins it looks like, 2 great programs this year. Good luck!
  23. Sure enough! Not sure why I never thought of checking Amazon, seems like I looked everywhere else. http://www.amazon.com/Vision-Quest-Matthew-Modine/dp/6305161909/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1233151339&sr=8-1
  24. So I assume it's a 99% that Bultemeier won't be healthy for sectional? I had heard he was injured at Al Smith, but what happened? Hope he's getting better, he was a real solid wrestler.
  25. MY dad found copie at wal-mart like 2 years ago and everytime i go in there i see it so you might try there What city? I've checked Rochester, Fort Wayne, West Lafayette, Wabash, Warsaw, Muncie, and Decatur (I travel around a lot).
