  1. If you had a life outside of wrestling you wouldn't be scouring trackwrestling looking for 4th graders that may or may not have gotten in 2 qualifiers.
  2. Question, does Rypel want to go? Does he even wrestle freestyle? All I see on his information page are folkstyle results. Same with Parris. Now, I believe they are the best in the state at their weights, but at least according to their info pages, they seem to wrestle folkstyle as opposed to freestyle. I know you happily correct me if I am wrong about that.
  3. I just find it amusing that you can say whatever you want to whoever you want, but you don't seem to take it very well when somebody says something to you that you don't like. That's all. I realize it is your site and you can do whatever you want, but if you are going to dish it out, be prepared to take it as well. On the subject, maybe there should be some sort of allowance for kids that participated (and did well) the previous year. Though I think the point is to put the best possible team on the mat for this event. If your 132 can't beat Red or Lee, then he doesn't deserve a spot on the team. All those kids on the original list have significant national credentials and that should weigh heavily in their favor. They have continually sought out the best competition they can find and should be rewarded for that.
  4. 1. If anybody else talked to somebody (namely you) like this they'd get a vacation from this site. 2. So Nick Lee going to UWW Juniors is just showing up for the bus?
  5. Might be a better option than having 98 "state champs".
  6. I'm sure all 98 will get the opportunity to wrestle in college now.
  7. Exactly, it it doubtful that he would have developed at IU like he did at Nebraska.
  8. 7th grade at Corpus Christi. His dad wrestled for MD, was a SQ in 1991.
  9. I see what you are doing there. The old, "private/parochial schools wouldn't be in business if they didn't recruit students" routine. While that may or may not be true for some P/P schools, I don't believe that MD actively recruits students. Sure, they contact 8th graders at their feeder schools so they can take their placement exams, register for their freshman classes, etc. My kid just went through that process. But they don't contact the public middle schools to "recruit" those kids. They wouldn't turn those kids away if they chose to enroll and could pay the significantly higher tuition. But they aren't seeking them out.
  10. hahahahahaha....jumping on the MD recruits bandwagon now? LMAO
  11. Just let Y2 put words in your mouth and be happy.
  12. so 2 of the 4 you have listed in the 2nd tier are single class states.... *stirs the pot*
  13. There weren't the same amount of national showcases that there are today, so it's not really apples to apples. My eyes tell me that Angel would win.
  14. The log jam would likely be 126-132. I would imagine Nick Lee would be at 138 and Joe Lee at either 145 or 152. Or maybe Nick goes all the way to 145 to open 138 for Luigs, Egli or Konrath. Who knows? At this point it is all speculation regarding Egli/Konrath.
  15. I would think that D3 schools would do whatever it takes to get kids in the door, let alone in the wrestling room. Maybe if the colleges marketed themselves better it would help. You have to agree with that, right?
  16. Your football to wrestling comparison is tired. Are you saying that kids are not having good experiences with wrestling under the current system? The only way kids will have good experiences with wrestling is if there are classes and they get to go to state?
  17. Agreed, it is one aspect of class wrestling. But it seems to be the most important for you since you continually bring up how more kids will be recruited, etc. Why do you assume that more kids will have a good experience if we go to class wrestling? I'd wager that the kids wrestling now in our single class are having a great experience. If they weren't, they wouldn't be in this sport. I firmly believe that wrestling is a love it or hate it sport. Not a lot of in between. If a kid isn't have a good time, he won't stay with it.
  18. As of this posting, 28 people have responded to the first 2 options. There have been 787 views of this topic. that's 3.5% of people that have seen this thread have changed their mind. Hardly an indication that the numbers are growing. But I guess if if was 0% to start with then it has grown. Nice work!
  19. I understand your point, but I think it is a stretch to assume that they will want to continue after HS. Some will, but the majority won't. All these other states have class wrestling and still only 2-3% continue on after HS.
  20. and yet 51% of the people polled remain against classing the individual side of things.
  21. Clever, Karl. The point is this: The data shows that +/- 97% of HS wrestlers don't wrestle in college. Classing wrestling will not magically provide more opportunities. The kids that want to wrestle in college will. They will go to Trine or Manchester or wherever. But kids apparently don't want to. Sometimes kids just want to get on with their lives and leave wrestling in the rear view mirror.
