Looks like Cam got a nice little concussion (charging head butt from FL kid), followed by a thumb injury. He fought well despite that....fun kid to watch wrestle Greco!!!
I think my son will be okay with the football coach if he misses some summer workouts due to wrestling....he was MVP of his 5A football team last year. LOL Actually, the football coach seemed excited about his wrestling. It's nice to know the coach understands how the two sports help one another.
THE Clinton Prairie Gophers... 8)
I was the first SQ, but the best from there has to be...
1988 grad Ty Baker, 3rd @ 185, and 2nd at 189...lost in the finals after having to reduce his dislocated shoulder during the match.
Went on to wrestle for Indiana University.
Join the Boiler Elite club. This will give you a chance to wrestle with Purdue's wrestlers. That's when you'll know if you want to take that step! Also talk to the coaches now to get their perspective.
It will be nice being able to watch Braden and Cameron work through their careers at Purdue. Being on campus most days, I'm always available to help out any way I can....I'll make sure the Atwood family knows that too!!! Boiler Up Atwoods!!!
We teach our kids to please try not to display frustrations in front of others in the gym. As emotional as he was at the time, I'd say a dead sprint was a pretty good choice! That was a pretty horrible situation for both boys, in my opinion.
Strongman equipment is hard to come by, but if anyone has been thrown for 5, or taken a ride with a reverse body lock by my son, then you'll know the secret is core strength. Tire flips, Atlas stones, sledge hammer drills, sled drags...all complimentary to a traditional weight training regimen. Super setting the odd lifts makes for a real butt kicker of a workout!!!
My son found some bad luck just prior to conference...Daniel Campbell of Harrison was ranked #9 at 215 when mono kicked his butt. Now we just want him to be consistently healthy the rest of the year. He could easily have been wrestling at Conseco rather than cheering on his teammates. It was tough to watch him deal with the situation. I feel for all the kids that end their seasons in an "alternative" manner!
The ignorance I speak of is how people are speculating like they know all the facts. I suppose that's what a discussion board is for, but it will take some time for everyone to get the straight scoop. It was an unfortunate situation for both young men. Bias makes people see the story however they wish to see it. I think discussions such as these contribute to both boys becoming victims.
