  1. Not sure the announcer got any of the IN guys' names right!!!
  2. "A Lafayette area school would need to show interest in hosting too." I'm 100% sure Lafayette Jeff would love to host semi state!

This entire argument is laughable....there is only 100% effort by all parties at the State finals meet. I've been around these kids for a long time and have never seen them ever take the easy route....that's pretty much how they made it to the finals!!!! The more closely their skills are matched the more difficult it is to score...they won't take unnecessary risk because it is not good strategy. If you think it is boring please do not come to the Big Ten meet or the NCAA finals!!!
  4. I will be there! Bidding on a singlet for my Marine!!! He is friends with Matt also!
  5. Several times I have encouraged the referee to call my wrestler for stalling....if I can't get my wrestler to work hard, maybe the referee can!!! They always look at me funny and laugh as they give the stalling warning! Often times it results in stalling on both kids.
  6. Kral would definitely step up given the opportunity from his coaches. Coaching is about strategy not ego. I've seen Tyler take his lumps in his younger years taking on older more experienced wrestlers. I doubt he's afraid to take on anyone now!
  7. The Campbell's in West Lafayette send our best to you all! Daniel and I have enjoyed the friendly competition over the past several years, always friendly!!! Wrestling has been such a great influence on myself and my son, as I'm sure it has been for you and your family. Regardless of what happens in the wrestling world, the sport has prepared him for success in life after wrestling. Daniel has excelled in the Marine Corps and I give credit for his discipline and drive to wrestling.
  8. There is a tremendous amount of political pressure on rules for international wrestling. These rules are being changed by those that do not wrestle the matches. Soon they will require a consolate for each wrestler with attorneys to interpret the scoring. The fallout for our kids is confusion and a loss of interest in the oldest and purest sport. I, as well as my son, enjoyed and possibly preferred GR and FS to folkstyle wrestling. Maybe regression to older rules is the actual key to progression in the sport!!!
  9. This is not the place to degrade kids...this is where we come to discuss wrestling. I'm a fan of all the kids as most of you know! I appreciate wrestling and will help any kid regardless of his team! I'm out of coaching this year after coaching for 20 years....time to roam around and watch some other teams this year!!!
  10. "But I am biased as all get out. (I'm short)" Amen brother! I feel your pain!!!
  11. Huge accomplishment! Congratulations!!!
  12. Let's not forget the Cathedral vs Delta dual meets in the 80's!!!!
  13. Seems like the darkhorses always come at the bigger weights! But that is where the biggest questions have to be answered!!!
  14. Ben is not just an amazing wrestler, he's a amazing man....he deserves our support in his quest for any wrestler's dream!!!
  15. Thanks for the insider information! I'm excited to get out to San Diego in December....no snow!!! I'll be sure to be and early bird those days too....shouldn't be hard since the time difference is so much!!! Congratulations on your son's career choice also!!!
  16. UPDATE! Daniel is PFC and one of only 4 squad leaders in his platoon....chalk one up for wrestlers everywhere!!!
  17. Anyone wanting to write to Daniel at bootcamp feel free! He would love to hear from any of you!!! He has been such a huge fan of wrestling and a friend to so many wrestlers around the country! Now you can support him as he serves as a United States Marine!!! Rct. Campbell, Daniel 1st RTBN Charlie Co. Plt 1054 40002 Midway Ave. San Diego, CA 92140-5550
  18. I will post his address on here when I get it...which should be next week...he would be thrilled to hear from the wrestling community that he loves soooooo much! Thanks for all your support! Brian Campbell
  19. My cousin and I competed in the 2001 games. It was an outstanding experience and an honor to compete with so many others from around the world. They really do have events that everyone can participate in. The wrestling competition can be very stiff, as some countries have Olympic caliber wrestlers occasionally. We pulled in one gold medal in powerlifting and a bronze in freestyle. I'd love to do it again!!
  20. I think Atwood and Vlahos have very good shots at their #1 spots this year. I see them forcing others to move to other weight classes.
  21. Title IX is not good for anyone in this economy. Many sports are struggling to maintain their budgets and Title IX almost forces their hands to drop programs due to the inability to fund additional programs. So in my opinion equality does not equate progressive thinking! It is now becoming the scapegoat schools can use to drop programs to save money....always about the money!!!
  22. Congrats to Eli, and on a personal note Congrats to Coach Callahan! A big accomplishment for both of you!
  23. VERY young team next year for the Boilermakers! But on the bright side there's no place to go but up! Purdue has a great group of younger kids ready to jump into the lineup. I see some surprises coming up in the lineup as those youngsters have improved greatly this year. If they don't make the lineup they will definitely make the upper classmen work harder!!! Win Win situation for the Boilers! If the underclassmen can bond and bring pride and ownership back to their team they will get into the mix of the Big Ten soon.
  24. This one hits close to home. My son Daniel knows this boy and will also be a Marine after graduation this spring. http://www.jconline.com/article/20110301/NEWS/110301021/Lafayette-Marine-McCutcheon-grad-injured-in-Afghanistan
