I think we gotta start small first the "Nation's Best", then work our way up to the "World's Best", then to the "Galaxy's Best" until we have reached the ultimate: "Universe's Best"!
as for myself (Banner Creator)....I am currently working on some new banners with all of the above titles! lol
crawl....walk.....run, my friend!
One of my ALL-TIME favorites is: "The Edge", by Howard E. Ferguson......Head Wrestling Coach for St. Edward High School, Ohio. Printed in 1983....It's not just about wrestling, but about athletics, life and leadership!
Not only do we have to wait till they are done with basketball practice, to set up for a wrestling match.....we have to set up! I think the basket ball team should have to come out and pull their own darn bleachers out, set up chairs and scoring tables and so on and so on!.....Then make them put everything away after the game! I know most wrestlers really can't enjoy a nice meal after a hard fought match prepared by the parents, like the basketball teams get to....but at least let the kids go home and relax and at least dream about a nice meal!
I agree that there needs to be a Coaches Assoc. I would be real interested to see the list of current "Paid" members. But a coaches assoc. needs to be more willing to allow all the coaches to get involved! Less irons in fire makes things more productive! Spread out responsibilities......just look at how many different jobs there are on indianamat.com! Y2's head would have exploded by now if he tried doing it all himself! I could be wrong, but I am sure Y2 and most other coaches do like the opportunity to actually coach their kids.
some sectionals......I know last season there were different sectionals that did 1-2-2 and some did 2-2-2....I could be wrong....but I would interested to hear what all the different sectionals did last season.
My wife mandates it of our son as a requirement for wrestling, just like grades. He comes home with a swollen ear, or she happens to walk by the room during practice and see him without them on...he is done. No questions asked, end of discussion. He had one doozie a few years ago that ballooned up big, black and ultimately painful. Mom laid down the law then and it is no longer a question. I never understood why adults hesitate to enforce this idea with their kids?
Would they let their kids practice football without a mouthgaurd? Why not? Heck they are just teeth and as long as the kid keeps his mouth shut the rest of his life, no one will even know that he was an idiot! And the cosmetic dentistry today looks better than most originals! Think of how COOL they would look walking around with no teeth! Then people would recognize them as football players! How awesome and tough is that!
I have yet to see a good looking fake ear!
For the record.....I know it's not COOL to have Cauliflower ear....I said in may look cool... but I agree with the masses, headgear should be taken more seriously in the room and during the off season...but it should be personal preference, in some cases. On another note....we have had this problem with our kids, that is those who don't wear them all the time get themselves in trouble during matches, always messing around with them instead of wrestling. It can be a huge distraction for a kid who doesn't get used to wearing their headgear!
I beat a kid in Jr. High, who was a 3X SQ, State Runner-Up one year and placed third the next year.....LOL
Sorry Elder, just trying to get a rise out of ya'! lol You're not grumpy....you just pay attention to detail!
Alright....I will just come out and say it....Jay County, I know the Coaches there would probably do things their way, the right way if they were allowed to do so......I don't want to put any blame on the Jay Co Wrestling community, they are a great group of people that takes good care of their kids and have alot of pride in their program....
I am just sick of hearing about basketball this and basketball that......ya' know I used to enjoy basketball as a spectator...I was even a huge IU fan...but they nixed Bobby Knight, and Indiana went to class basketball and it has never been the same.....so I just despise basketball all together!
I know it's true.....it was even stated at a host sectional school, that's the I.H.S.A.A. Wrestling Sectional..... by the host sectional administration....that a regular season basketball game needed to start on time.....so the I.H.S.A.A. Wrestling Sectional was sped up.....now as far as the 1-2-2......I can't say that it was invented by this host school.....but this is the same cooperation that has a Jr. High Wrestling event on the same day as the I.H.S.A.A. Semi-State....I would love for my Middle school kids to go and watch our high school kids just once at semi-state.....just once, that's all I am asking....
I love the home page.....the Indianamat.com team has done an outstanding job with all of the added bonuses....I think the other 49 states needs to bow down and get off the tracks, because Indiana Wrestling is coming, and it's being led by a Railroader.....lol
If the AD from Floyd Central didn't call ahead to the host school, and let all teams know about the dual the night prior, then it's not an automatic 1 pound.
2-2-2....Thats the way it needs to be! They are High School matches, not Jr-High! Let the kids wrestle....1-2-2 was probably invented by some AD who wanted some Invite to end sooner, so he could clear the floor for a basketball game!
This is not a discussion area; this section is to be used by Coaches, Athletic Directors & Tournament Directors to post their event information only. Thank You.
