  1. I believe it was the toughest I had seen. So many evenly matched kids. Crazy theres three siblings @ 120 this year from that 2009 119 class. If Brooks @ 113 ate more, ( ) you'd have four pretty good pairs of brothers 8) There are some pretty good wrestlers in college now from this list.
  2. Maybe Peyton's house will be available to rent by State weekend ................ ;D ;D
  3. Does anyone know where was 120 Johnson (ME) and 170 Campbell (N) were at last weekend? I don't beleieve either were even in the gym @ SIAC.
  4. Great way to cap off your wrestling career with being 149 National Champion. U of Indy's first Nat'l Champion in wrestling. Awesome job coaches.
  5. Let's go Nick bring the gold home .......Best of Luck! Parade of All-American's begins @ 7:30 est
  6. Fall of course. Congrats Nick, bring back a national championship. Matt lost a close one. Come back and get third.
  7. Not accurate or up to date. Alex Johns had a career record of 196-17 graduating in 2009 from Evansville Reitz.
  8. Great tourney run.....way to get hot when it counted. Congrats Jake!
  9. .........and you're battery is still up?
  10. I'm proud. He did his best tonight and left everything out there on the mat. Gotta give him all the confidence for the future wrestling a stud like Cody Phillips to a 5-3 loss

Hoping for a southern roll....... 8)
  12. All I can say is WOW about the comments about Matt Mastison. ??? As a parent of a wrestler who has battled Matt for probably the last 4-5 yrs, all I can say I am embarrassed for my son's name being mentioned in some of the post. My family and Blake have nothing but the upmost respect for the Mastison family. I consider myself and Mark a "wrestling" friend as our boys have become competitiors on the mat. Our older kids go to the same university and I have enjoyed speaking with Mark about U of Indy wrestling. As I hoped and cheered for Matt to advance at SS, I feel that Mark and Matt were cheering for Blake and Sam Goebel to do their best and advance to state also. I hope the people that have been bashing Matt will remember that these are only boys and not adults. Congratulations on Matt's season and I know it wasn't what you guys wanted but I know Matt will make the best of it next year and only continue to work harder and be more determined. That's what scares me. I'm sure the Blake vs. Matt matches are not yet over in their HS careers. Somebody that has nothing better to do than bash high school kids should find a charitable organization and donate some of their time instead of posting on a discussion board. Mark Johns
  13. Alex Johns Evansville Reitz 2005-2009 8) Career record of 196 - 17. Just coming in a little short. That is not counting an IN-IL senior dual win in '09 and probably 15 additional wins for the IN national dual team at the NHSCA underclassman duals in Dover DE '07 and York, PA '08.
  14. Thanks Drooke.....and he will need good luck also with some great wrestling.
  15. My youngest son's first State appearance ....... Hopefully there will be two more appearance's in his career.
  16. Remember on "Vision Quest" the coach wore a singlet with a shirt under it at practice........pretty cool 8) 8)
  17. Amen to being consistent. Tough day to be a SIAC tourney official. They just looked like they we're a little behind on everything.
  18. Results and story on yesterday's duals: http://athletics.uindy.edu/news/2011/1/8/WREST_0108110622.aspx?path=wrest
  19. "..........but not even the weakest MD wrestlers give up pins "plain and simple". " I'll have to disagree. When you have been compromised and put into a situation where you can not get out from; falls or pins can happen. Sometimes a guy is just a better wrestler than his opponent. A few weight classes this year could be like what I mentioned. I guess you haven't been to all the meets in the last few years. I'll agree it is very difficult to obtain a pin against the MD wrestlers, but it has happened more often in the last few years than ever before. There has been 3-4 guys get pinned in recent years and I believe a couple can still be pinned. Reitz has had some great wrestlers in the last few years that helped them be more competitive. Even with great wrestlers it takes a very special dual where things "fall" into place for Reitz to pull the upset. Mater Dei has some unbelievable team depth again which will be hard for any team in the state to overcome. MD has some of their swagger back. Watch out rest of the state. Mater Dei will be heavily favored in this years meet, but as in most any year when MD and Reitz get together there could be some surprises.
  20. Really can't understand "seeding" or whatever you want to call moving or separating the better wrestlers are just some of the brackets. 112 gettinger should of been moved to the top if everyone says he was the third seed.
  21. Phillips is here. Story is Todd is sick and Phillips missed weight. Don't think Phillips would be here if sick. Way to go connersville on having Ritters ice cream and glaciers, maybe better than shaved ice.......lol
  22. A lot of the guys ran into some pretty tough wrestlers. The team was expecting more placers but sometimes that's the way things happen. Johns injury forfeited his last matches after losing in the semifinals. Good luck to them at the Ashland duals coming up and get some rest during the holidays.
