  1. 2008 171 lb. Semi-Final: Cooper Samuels (Floyd Central) v. Jacob Blackwell (Roncalli) I remember the crowd constantly changing from boos to cheers.
  2. 2006 130 lb. Semi-Final- Matt Hemry v. Alex Warren If I remember correctly Hemry was down 5-0 going into the third, got 5 straight takedowns and then got taken down at the very end, final score 14-11. Warren went on to win, with a controversial call in the finals.
  3. Evansville @126 1st Rd. Tyler Fleener(CG) v. Austin Ward(FC) Winner most likely gets Blake Jourdan(MD)
  4. Your screen name should be Ricky Bobby. Apparently by prefacing a rant with respectfully, you can say whatever you want. Haha priceless. I've learned my lesson, you cant argue with an idiot, they just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
  5. Just out of curiosity and no ill will meant by this, but have you ever coached high school wrestling? The point of State Finals in any individual sport is to get the best possible wrestlers that the state has to offer in one venue to determine the top 16. If you leave it at its simplest, then surely you can understand why the "Life isn't fair" mentality doesn't work here. Semi-state shouldn't be about fair or unfair, crappy or good draws, it's supposed to be about getting the best possible kids to next weekend.
  6. Not sure if you're trolling or not, but I'm going to get dragged in. Just as a reference for your predicted score, Zain Retherford beat Molloy by 7(Score was 3-0 in the 3rd and he got put on his back). Kelley is hard as nails, but he's nowhere close to Retherford. I'm going to say Molloy 6-2.
  7. At 152 - #11 Jordan Partee dec. #9 Kyle Stillinger 8-6
  8. There have been a few occasions, such as this, that can be attributed to a mean, physical style. I'm just stating there was more to his career than these situations. I'm not saying that his actions in these instances weren't uncalled for I'm just saying that they happened on the biggest stage in high school wrestling so people can't really judge a kid when they've only watched him wrestle a handful of times. I also believe when kids are known have this certain style, not just Mr. Richey, that officials are much more liberal when giving out penalty points. Example: Many people, myself included, think that one or two of those points awarded in over time were just him having a record for being aggressive and weren't really warranted.
  9. Take it for what its worth. He had a tough time in the third place match, and I'm assuming the people that never watched him wrestle before that will only remember him in that light. I'm just saying, there was much more to his career than that final match and it is sad people will remember him in that way.
  10. Agreed! Had the pleasure of watching him all four years of high school since our team is in the same sectional. Incredibly physical, even more so than his brother I believe. It is a style that will compliment him well in college if he decides to go that route.
  11. If I remember correctly, that was the following year when Samuels stuck Oudhuis in the finals. In the Samuels and Biddle finals match, wasn't Samuels riding high when Biddle caught the leg and head and brougt him over top?
  12. After Eppert beat Wright, it looked like he held up a three and punched it with his other hand. It seemed as if he was saying he ruined Wrights chances of three state titles. Maybe that was too elaborate to come up with on the spot , but it was cool nonetheless.
  13. Do you wanna play repeater? Do YOU wanna play repeater?
  14. Because I've seen more dominant heavyweights. Like I said hes tough, but pound for pound best wrestler in the state? Did you forget about guys like Tsirtsis, Molloy, Boston, Micic, Jackson or Brooks? I have a feeling there is more at stake than you are letting on.
  15. He's super tough, but you have to let the emotion of today die down a bit before making a statement like that. Didn't he have a 1 or 2 point win early in the day?
  16. Those four (Jamison, Batts, Pierre and Holwager) were a toss-up. I looked at SS rankings and record for justification. Pierre is ranked third in our SS but also has 6 losses. I assumed Batts just had a bad weekend after going into Regionals as an undefeated sectional champ.
  17. Schrempf did look tough all day. Up by 2 or 3, he (Schrempf) was on bottom, Holwager had legs in, got high, Schrempf caught the head and got the fall.
  18. He wrestled unattached at the Southern Scuffle. I'm assuming he was with IU though since that's what was labeled as his affiliate school on the brackets.
  19. We've had a couple D1 wrestlers, and I agree for the most part. It was just the way the message was portrayed and anyone from a rural Indiana town would probably be offended by that.
  20. That post started out nice. Could have done without the cheap shot though Ivy Leaguer.
  21. I'm pretty sure he said it came off the top of his head. Sorry if he is a little too creative for your taste, but you are trying to compare an NCAA National Title to that of a intermediate state title? You should be boo'd, think about what you write before you post. Also, I don't remember people booing McMurray when he won his third.
  22. If I took as much criticism as he did all year long, I would have over celebrated too. I wouldn't have come up with something that creative but it was great to see.
  23. Even if they do drop the teams for monetary reasons wouldn't it be in violation of Title IX? All the teams that have been cut are mens teams so if they were in compliance with proportionality there is no way they can be now, especially with UNO dropping their football team as well.
