  1. More then anything, when he won, he acted like he done it before. Shook hands and walked off the mat
  2. Congrats Ethan, best of luck.
  3. Jared Congrats you had a great year .
  4. How could you not like Price. Hard worker, good student. Glad to see him make it at State, very deserving. You will enjoy watching him. The coaches at Tech have done a great job with those kids. Best of Luck Dominique.
  5. James 145 Indy Pike, realize Roach is the top dog, but Cam James is very exciting. If you have not seen this kid, get ready because he is a ball of fire. You can not ever count this kid out.
  6. The buzzer sounded, the clock said 0:00, next time you observe a wrestling match be aware it might be have extra time. I hope the official decides next time to go a different route. Maybe, let the kids know. I don't know what you think..
  7. Mr. Kieffer, Thank you for your letter of concern. I have concluded my investigation after conferring with the Meet Director, the lead Official, and the assistant official. Following is the information that I have gathered. At :48 remaining in the third period of the match the wrestlers were ruled out of bounds. As they were being reset, the clock operator started the clock. When the lead Official signaled the start to wrestle, the assistant noted the time difference. The assistant notified both benches of the clock malfunction and then notified the lead Official. The wrestling action did not stop for the remainder of the period, thus no opportunity was presented to reset the clock. The assistant counted the additional five seconds and informed the led Official of the end of the match. At the conclusion of the match, the lead Official conferred with the clock operator and the assistant . The lead Official made his decision and the results were communicated. After having heard from the three meet officials I believe the following is in order. The ruling of the Official is final. This is consistent with our rules as can be found in Rule 9-5 of the IHSAA By-Laws. Further, the officials acted in good faith. The acknowledged error of the timekeeper could not be corrected before the end of the match, thus the countdown by the assistant. The official communicated the information to both benches. The results of the match will stand. Robert E. Faulkens Assistant Commissioner Indiana High School Athletic Association From: KJen3boys@aol.com [mailto:KJen3boys@aol.com] Sent: Monday, February 14, 2011 2:23 PM To: Here is the explanation I received from the IHSAA today. In this email he never asked either one of the coaches if this info was correct. He asked the officials. If the official would of said something to someone would you not think someone out of eight ears would of heard. Maybe past that info on to the wrestlers. So you figure it out. Someone is not telling the truth.
  8. Chris Maxwell 1985 160 the last state champ from Roncalli.
  9. You can believe what you want. He will be better person for this, that I promise you. I never said he got lucky. If you think that this official made the right choice by not fixing the time when he knew about it 45 seconds prior, then you have that right. When it happens to one of your own, hope you feel the same. If you want to blame Joe for letting up on a grip when he was obvious looking at the clock, do that also. If you want this official to learn something, like just reset the clock, I would hope we all would agree. This was not created to lay fault on the Frankfort wrestler.
  10. I did not start the post, but I am glad someone did. Until someone from Roncalli Staff comments on all the details we will continue scratch our heads. I was/am still very dishearten by the result. I wish nothing but the best of Luck to the his opponent next week. It was a very good match between two great wrestlers battling it out for right to be in the big show. After several hours later I briefly had a very productive chat with the official. He explained to me what had happen, my question to him was if you had to make the same decision again would you reset the clock. Or at least let everyone know what was happening. Do both wrestlers have the right to know that clock is off by 5 seconds ? Are you going to count loud enough, so we all know time is going to expire? Should Joe wrestle until the sound of a whistle? Yes.. I will say to his defense that it was extremely loud. At the same time this was unfolding, there was some other major conflict occurring on another mat. Someone was on the loud speaker attempting to gain control of a situation. It was very loud. We hold our children accountable for everything. I am held accountable at my workplace. When you make a bad decision you need to own up to it. Reflect, tell yourself I will try to do better. All I want to happen, is learn something. If you ever have this happen again, is communicate with the coaches, wrestlers so everyone knows what is really going on. Resetting the clock IMO would have resolved the problem. To take this away from a child, who spends his entire year preparing for this event is wrong. His opponent might of take him down in o.t. and won. As official would you not feel better that at least you realize a mistake in the clock and attempted clear it up so everyone knows. I would hope so.
  11. Kid, I hope you are doing fine this morning. What you did yesterday for my son will never be forgotten. You are first class. Most kids would have had him DQ. I know he would of never tried to hurt you, he felt terrible. It was one of those things where it got extremely scary. When I seen the way your body was in such a compromised position as you both were falling to the mat my, heart dropped. When I seen movement in lower and upper body parts I was just so thankful you were ok. Your parents have raised you right, I hope nothing but the best for you. Good Luck, I will be cheering for you whenever I see you wrestle.
  12. With 45 seconds left in the 3rd period the score keeper forgot to start the clock. The official instead of resetting the clock decided that he would start counting five seconds once the the cl0ck read zero. This was the back judge. In a scramble with maybe 15 seconds left, Joe shot in was awarded a T.D.. During the scramble his opponent almost instantly hit a switch and was awarded a reversal. At this point the clock read 0:00 Joe held on for a few more seconds in attempt not to surrender any back points. Released his grip, his opponent climb up his chest and was awarded some back points. Everyone that was watching the match was in agreement that the clock had expired at least 5 seconds before the near fall, including the officials. Here is the explanation, why it was so confusing, just like stated above. The score table failed to start the clock in a break at the 45 second mark. The official decided it was best at 0:00 to give a 5 second count. According to the official he stated he notify the coaches. According to Roncalli coaches that never occurred. According to Joe he was never informed of a 5 extra seconds. I can not tell you if his opponents coaches were aware of the situation. I do have video, it is not going to change the outcome. It is very disheartening. I can think of 4 different ways that should of happen, that could of resolved the matter. When it happen, reset the clock. 2. stop the action when you notice the problem, inform the wrestlers. 3. own up to it, place them in the center, its o.t. let the match be decided on the mat. 4. or do exactly what you did, at 0:00 start counting to five. I think most would agree that the answer to this problem would be to reset the clock when it happen. Stop the match and fix the problem, at least everyone knows what is happening. I can't change the outcome, but I hope if this ever happens again to these officials, they do it different. I never want to see a kid go through something like this again. At this point of the season it is not acceptable.
  13. Himes brothers from Roncalli. Nick and David both State-Runner-Up
  14. McQs, Closer the winning teams house. Beside it is a Roncalli Family..Good Luck to everyone, Have Fun..
  15. I don't know what really happen, but I have met the family through all the youth tournaments my kids have been involved with. They are good people, so I trust that the decision they made for their son was in his best interest. We all make mistakes, just learn from them and move on.
  16. Our prayers are with you and your family for a speedy recovery. Kieffer Family
  17. Insert Quote If a student is on suspension at one school, and then mid-season transfers to another school, I would think that the IHSAA should look into the transfer, because on the face of it, that situation seems to lead to the belief that the move is happening for athletic reasons (especially if the student resumes his season at the new school with no consequences). If there is nothing to hide, and the moves are happening for employment, hardship, or whatever reason, then there should be nothing to fear from the IHSAA. I read a rather lengthy post yesterday about giving these kids a break, and forgiving their indiscretions, and while I agree with most of what was said, there is also something to be said for making these student athletes face the consequences of their choices. If these moves are directly related to consequence-avoidance, it sends the wrong message to the rest of the student-athletes, in any sport, across the state. We spend their whole wrestling careers telling our children about the guts, determination, discipline, sportsmanship, performance, and sacrifice that it takes to be a wrestler. We chastise them for their weight and constantly push them to go harder, be better. Everyday in their wrestling room, they learn the punishment for getting pinned, poor performance, gassing - and they pay the price. We hold them to a higher standard, but that shouldn't only be on the mats. If these transfers are due to running from consequences, all I can say is, Man up boys, life doesn't get any easier. 18. Just to clarify this whole post, my intent was not to strike a cord with coaches and parents. All i was trying to say was that ( ranking, seedings) and many other reasons hold kids back from wrestling good matches at times. I know some reasons are for strategy, but other reasons arent. Many kids talk up matches to their freinds all week, just for them to show up with disappointment, because the match is no longer taking place. I love all aspects of the sport, and i was not trying to mean that i wasted five dollars. That means nothing to me. I love the sport and am a great fan. I just love to see big matches as do many others. Thats all i have to say about this and will not be posting any further comments about it. That was where i was getting at, not the fact that i lost five dollars. Im sorry for affending many people by this post, hope you understand where i was commin from. **You don't have to remind me about life, i deal with every third day**
  19. Maybe my $5.00 does not make a difference, but when the sport does not generate a revenue the school might decide to get rid of the sport. I am not refering to Bellmont. All I am saying its not good for the sport. It did not happen to us this past weekend it just appears to happen more often then some would like.
  20. Here is what I am burning over. The last few weeks I have driven to a gym to watch a good match between two good wrestlers, but to arrive and find out that they either missed weight, or have decided not to wrestle. I think if you really want this sport to take off, then its up to the coaches to give the fans what they want to see. I can see if the kid is hurt, but to see a kid not wrestle someone then turn around and watch him wrestle the next match is b.s. You sit in the stands and watch this unfold. I have even been to a place seen the kid warm up, then for whatever reason decide not to wrestle. when i go to see Roncalli play Cathedral in football, I pay my money and know I am at least going to see these two teams play each other. But then i go to a wrestling event, pay my money and take a gamble that I just wasted $5.00, because these dudes are not going to wrestle. My first thoughts are where is the coach because he owes me $5.00. Wrestle the match, the fans want to see it.
  21. Everyone that lives in this great country, should be required to watch that video. Thanks for sharing..
  22. When you are the champ, most like to see the underdog win. Take it as a compliment..
