  1. ontherise, I know I started this topic and mentioned series between 2 wrestlers, but what about the 3 way between Ramos/Maldonado/Hernandez in 2000. I believe they were the Ranked top 3 in the state going into Sectionals. Ramos beat Hernandez once at Semi-State and Maldonado three times that year. Once at Mishawaka, Semi-State, and State respectively. Maldonado/Hernandez split their series 1-1 during Sectionals and Regionals. On a side note, that was the only year Alex Dolly did not qualify for State. Drew Bobby Joe in the ticket round and watched a guy he beat at Regionals go on to place 4th in the State. He definitely qualifies in my eyes had there been wrestle backs in place.
  2. Markovichs from Da Region. Schaffers(Sp?) from MD Youngs from Bloomington. Just a few that I have not seen mentioned.
  3. Did not want to start a new topic for this, but a question for y2 and co. It appears da fake rat was banished from the board. Did you guys set a rat trap to exile him or was it self initiated?
  4. I think one can make a very good argument that the Al Smith is "THE" premiere individual tournament of the year. 7 out of the Top 20 teams are in the tournament. (That is 35% of the Top 20...this is for you Y2 8) ) Several ranked individuals at various weight classes, year in and year out. Coach Wadkins' great point of watching a returning state champ wrestle for 5th Place. The fact that their has only been ONE 4x Champ. (Kinda of ironic also that the only 4 timer was never a 1x State Champ) I have been absent the last few years, but have been trying to make an effort to catch at least Day 2 of the wrestling. Looking forward to making it this year, very good matches appear to be upcoming.
  5. Got my first one sometime within the last 24 hrs!
  6. **DISCLAIMER: The following names mentioned are all volunteer coaches for (INSERT HIGH SCHOOL NAME).** Feel free to cut and paste and let the posting begin! ;D
  7. Wawasee did not feed into Merrillville at that time.
  8. 92 State Meet. The four horseman from Lawernce North (Four in, Four out). The first of the Smith(Ben Davis)/Douglas(Valpo) debacles (talk about untilizing your injury time!) Dennis Watson(Merrillville) catching fire at just the right time in the season. Hanover Central's O.C. (Original Champ) Roger Blanton, and of course RIIIICOOOOO Talamanteeeeeesss!
  9. Ahhhhh, nothing like some fresh homemade tortillas with some freshly made chorizo and eggs in the morning. Not a big fan of cardboard tortillas combatspeed.
  10. I do not like the idea at all. The IHSAA got it wrong again and added the 4 matches in the wrong place! Instead of having them at the begining, why not add the 4 to get a better outcome for the third and fourth place finishers. Besides, how many fourth place Regional placers do you think will actually win their first round match. I bet it will be equivalant to a #16 beating a #1 or #15 beating a #2 in the NCAA B-Ball tourney. Chances are slim to none.
  11. With some great wrestling completed already, holiday and conference tourneys upcoming. I was wondering if anyone could remember some great series between two wrestlers. Of course one I recall recently is the McGill/Cosgrove Series. I believe I mentioned earlier that we have potential for a Quiorga/Wright series this year. Maybe The Ancient Elder can help me with this question, what is the most two individuals have wrestled each other in one season?
  12. What happened to the variety of themes to choose from? I had a favorite I was using but is was gone when I got on today. The default theme's font is just too small and harder to read.
  13. rat I kinda have to agree with you here after looking at the field. 13 out of 16 with State Final experience. I know Sandefur is the returning champ, but I don't think anyone should sleep on Surma, has looked very good so far, let's not forget he lost to the eventual champ last year in the ticket round.
  14. In most cases when a wrestler is superior to another, he will eventually get the fall. I will say that in a match of two pretty equal wrestlers, I always enjoyed pushing the guy until you could take him down at will, eventually "breaking him". To me it is simply making a statement in that case.
  15. Munster wins the meet pretty easlily. I can't remeber the exact score, I think 52-25. No Surma-Almarez match up. If this match was to take place, my money is on Surma. Estrada won by fall over pretty tough kid in Tyler.

    Frustration

AJ, I can be wrong, but reading further on, it seems that if someone wanted to invite teams from other states, I belive you can request permission for the IHSAA or NFHS to sanction the event. Maybe this is how this roundball tourney is taking place. If someone else is more knowledgable on the topic polease enlighten us.

    Frustration

I am not sure on that one AJ. I could feel your frustration if this is indeed the rule and a pass was given for this tourney. Ok checked out the by-law you were speaking of: 10-1 The address of out-of-state schools participating in a contest against a member school as well as the site of such contests must be within 600 miles round trip travel from the Indiana state line and shall be sponsored or co-sponsored by a member high school. 10-1.1 Sanctioning is not required for interstate competition when only two schools are involved and both are members of good standing in their state associations.
  18. rat1, dune, dtrain, You guys remember when the Times actually came out with the All-Area Team for the year? I wanna say the last year they did that was somewhere in the mid 90's. I guess they consider their Braggin Rights dual the All-Area team. This really blows considering I see an All-Area team in most other sports. I actually e-mailed the editor a few years ago about this, and never received a staright answer about it. My subscription was cancelled awhile ago. If I get bored I usually can find a copy of the paper laying around the station somewhere. It serves as a reminder as to why I have cacelled my subscription. I do not want to knock Waddle, he does the best he can with the paper. Well at least we have Indianamat.com, which seems to be giving us the covereage we are all wanting from our local papers. Just visited nwitimes.com Looks like wrestling fans are visiting this site and making their voices heard. Every week they let readers pick a prep game they want to see covered. Here the results so far: You pick the game. We cover it. Voting ends at noon Sundays. Check back Wednesday for full coverage and remember to return to vote for next week's game. LINK: http://nwi.com/sports/prepsports/ Prep Picks Games of the Week for Dec. 30's games BOYS BASKETBALL, Gavit at Munster (22 Votes, 26%) GIRLS BASKETBALL, Lake Central at Portage (19 Votes, 22%) SWIMMING, Griffith at Wheeler (5 Votes, 6%) SWIMMING, Chesterton at LaPorte (11 Votes, 13%) WRESTLING, Homewood-Flossmoor Invitational (Field includes Munster) (29 Votes, 34%)
  19. He is wrestling. However he is not injured, but he is not able to wrestle currently. I'll let you guys put the pieces together.

    Frustration

AJ, So this tournament is in Indiana, right? I know it would be major work for someone, but I guess one way around the 300 mile rule would be to invite some of those teams to a site located in Indiana. I know this would be a difficult task, however as we all know sometimes we have to get creative to get things done with the IHSAA.
  21. Cmon rat, it can't be that bad, time and a half or double time and a half for Sundays? Either way, you seemed to have found a nice warm place in da mill with a computer!
  22. tyandky, As I have been corrected so many times by my wife, it is a pretty good IDEA. I do however feel like that would be the IDEAL ;D thing to do for anyone looking for some gear at a minimum cost.
  23. RankingsGuy has Napules pinning Penn. I am assuming you have information that proves otherwise?

    IHSWCA

I could not agree with tspray more. The IHSWCA provided us with a great way for the wrestling community to communicate with each other and I have no ill feelings about the old board. Rex and company did an outstanding job. There is no reason why this link should not be on the IHSWCA site as this site should have the IHSWCA link. Some toes may have been stepped on in the creation of this site and I am unsure if there is any animosity toward y2 and company for starting this new site. If there is, I am hoping it can be cleared up so we can utilize both sites to obtain as much wrestling information as possible.
