  10. This guy was not too bad either...might be a little bias. 3rd/2nd/SQ/4th
  11. Thanks for the responses guys. Totally get the scheduling conflict. Hopefully in the future the IHSWCA and the IHSAA can figure out a way in the future to allow teams to accept invites without compromising their current scheduling points.
  12. They went a couple years ago and pretty sure Lorek wants to accept any invitation they are given, but I am not sure if they made the vote in spot for the tournament since.
  13. I don’t think we would have the venue we have if the IHSAA did not care about wrestling. I am willing to bet that revenue wise, our State Tournament does pretty well for them in its current format. I am sure it being picked up for a Live broadcast helps with revenue as well. There in lies the problem I feel. Their thought is probably, if it ain’t broke, pun intended, don’t fix it. I do think it has been brought to light before that our coaches association sometimes struggles with getting the IHSAA to take them seriously with changes. Maybe we have to think outside the box to get our changes made to our tournament. What that is I don’t know, but hopefully moving forward we can see some steps being taken in a positive direction.
  14. I noticed earlier that qualification weight is not considered, so does that mean that a kid that qualified at an actual qualifier(North, South, or Indy) can wrestle a lower or higher weight class this weekend if so desires?
  15. We have it pretty good, great support from our Admin. Brownsburg has a brand new room that is pretty impressive!
  16. I just love when @maligned gets to use the word crowdedness at this time of the year! Always appreciative of the work you do, thank you. How would schools combining or dropping programs affect the numbers?
  17. You should add another one for Semi-Finals on 2 or 4 mats.
  18. I don't think the Big Ten Network is FREE...last time I checked you had to have the sports package to have it on Comcast. Maybe other providers are different. Definitely a good watch tonight though!
  19. As stated above, I do believe the rule states that all corrections to match scores must be done prior to the start of the next match on that mat. That is an unfortunate way to lose. Official scorer and referee should have been a little better in realizing the situation, as well as the Coach.
  20. There were 4 originally seeded at 195, I think one was scratched at weigh-ins and the other was DQd for Flagrant, that is why he was removed and all his points taken away. I can see this Sectional being mixed up in the future. There are rumors of the School City of Hammond downsizing to only 2 High Schools instead of the current 4. Bishop Noll was supposed to be JV only this year, with the low participation numbers, I am not too sure how much longer they will remain a program. Jamal Lawrence is coaching at West Side, so it will be exciting to see if he can revive the program. I know I have already seen him around the youth tournaments. Removing Lake Central from this Sectional really hurt the depth as they would always bring a full team. This Sectional has never been one of the stronger ones, but it always has produced some solid individuals and most teams would bring close to full line-ups. This was the first time that I can remember that we did not have at least one weight class with a first round match. Lowest number of participants I have seen in my time with this Sectional, hopefully in the next couple years we can get the participation up to what it once used to be.
  21. The Top 6 are seeded at Sectionals. Then the next two available wrestlers are drawn into what would essentially be the #7 and #8 seed. The remaining wrestlers are distributed evenly to keep the bracket balanced and to assure that everyone has a chance to score in the first round. Of course this was the pre non scoring first round days that this was put into place. With the first round not being scored, there is some sense to placing the remaining unseeded wrestlers against each other in the pig tail matches. The reasoning behind a full wrestle back though I would imagine would be the risk of someone having more than 6 matches in one day. This is not perfect system in place now, but I do believe it works in the vast majority of Sectionals. If the brackets were not balanced, then there may have been an error in how they were drawn and should be corrected before Saturday.
