  1. Any news? I am hearing that one powerful wrestling team in the Region is getting even better!
  2. Ormsbee is a Blair Academy kid, a senior-to be...1 year older than Jason. I believe WIN magazine had Ormsbee # 4 or # 5 at 135lbs for the season. He's a stud but so is Jason. Great job, Jason!!
  3. Mama, protect that boy's ears! Headgear on all of the time! You don't want his ears to turn out like papa's! haha Congrats to the Vega Family!
  4. Received info on the date(s) for next year's folkstyle nationals in Cedar Falls, IA...book your hotel early. From: Pete March 31st, April 1-3, 2011. Pete Isais Director of National Events USA Wrestling 6155 Lehman Drive Colorado Springs, CO 80918 Phone: 719.598.8181 ext. 608 Fax: 719.598.9440 Email: pisais@usawrestling.org
  5. Y2, you didn't have to sit on snapped trees and powerlines all night! It sucked! LOL
  6. 3rd place at 125lbs, Cameron Doggett was a JORDAN trained kid along with Aaron Hart. I have some old technique tapes from Jeff Jordan where both these guys were just in middle school but were flawless in their technique, etc. I never heard what happened to these two after high school, one went to Purdue didn't he?
  7. If I remember correctly, it was 5-0 but not sure...and I believe it was Metcalf's 2nd straight JN title.
  8. The Martinez family has been a huge contributor to my middle school kids' success over the years and especially my son's skill level. Congratulations to Izzy! http://www.illinoismatmen.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32005
  9. 8th graders who will make an impact: Chandler Carroll Nathan Boston Stevan Micic If LeCount decides to cut, he'll be in the mix as well... I'll take any of these 4 to be ranked in the TOP 5-8 by Sectional time...and don't be surprised if one of them is under the lights!
  10. Drew (Hughes) will be there...(According to what Kenny told me)
  11. Kolodzik has been one of the best in the nation for a long time! He beat Stevan at the AAU middle school duals out in Iowa. In that match, Stevan was not at 100% (my opinion) and he is at full strength now! We see Stevan in the room twice a week and let me tell ya, the kid is a BEAST. Hanover Central will have a powerful 1-2 punch with him and Petrov next season! Logan Grass is no slouch either... Great job Stevan!!! Another Region CIA product doing well.
  12. ...not sure about the other weights but Paul (Petrov) may or may not be at 103lbs next year? Hanover Central has a young beast coming out of middle school that may be at 103lbs...Stevan Micic.
  13. Congrats! http://www.themat.com/section.php?section_id=3&page=showarticle&ArticleID=22006
  14. Hi Coach: Both Hughes' boys and Jake's registration are being sent out tomorrow! They are excited and ready to go, they loved it last year! If anyone is thinking of sending their wrestler to this camp, please do so...you won't be disappointed!! ---Coach Tucker, Lowell Wrestling
  15. Great room tonight, Coach Willmann! Fleeger and Cashe did a tremendous job! Thanks guys!
  16. Congrats buddy, good luck and I know you will do well!!! --Coach Tucker
  17. More on IZZY... IZZY STYLE just opened up their brand new facility in the suburbs, it is a very nice room. Israel was an Illinois High School legend winning 3 state titles and would have easily won his 4th if not for disciplinary issues. His brother, Nathan, was a 2x'er in Illinois and both were raised and trained by Jose Martinez of Martinez Wrestling. We have been attending their summer camps for 9 years running and you won't find better technicians anymore in the country. Jose' is the head coach of the Illinois Gold team every year at Danville for the middle school duals. Martinez Elite club has produced many D-1 studs including Nick Fanthorpe, Eric Tannenbaum, Mike Benefiel, and so many others through the years. 7 State Champs in Illinois from IZZY's school. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs477.ash1/26122_10150102555525618_840830617_11025510_1807635_n.jpg]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs477.ash1/26122_10150102555525618_840830617_11025510_1807635_n.jpg[/img] *Helped you out a little LPD-------Thanks buddy!
  18. Bloomington South, I believe. Her older brother, Shawn, wrestled at Conseco this past year...he's a senior.
  19. I want to personally thank Coach Joe Willmann and IU's Andrae Hernandez for running our RTC tonight! We certainly appreciate your efforts! Some great stuff tonight!!! We hope to see everyone next Wednesday! --Coach Tucker, Lowell Wrestling
  20. 1oldwrestler: You make a valid point, I would have to agree but I know for a fact that Kayla weighs much more now than Brooks did as a Freshman...having weighed much more than 84lbs a couple of weeks ago. I don't feel that she will be facing the same weight dilemma that young Brooks dealt with. If she stays at 103lbs for awhile, she will have no problem with strength, anyone that knows Kayla can attest to her strength. It may take her a year or two but she was the first female to ever win middle school state and judging by the past winners of that tournament, it is not out of the realm of possibility for her to be the first female to qualify for our state finals. It was done in Ilinois and other states so it's interesting to see IF or WHEN it is done here?
  21. To the contrary, I know both wrestlers and their families fairly well...but I appreciate your sentiments. I don't think Kayla or Sarah will be flying under anyone's radar not if you are in tune to what is going on with Indiana wrestling over the past years. Evidence #1: Sarah was 1 match away from qualifying for state out of the M'ville SS. Evidence #2: Kayla is a 10x state champion (I believe) in the ISWA and a Tulsa placer, anyone with this resume' (boy or girl) coming into high school is going to be an immediate threat! Anyone who doesn't believe that these two have a chance in being the 1st female state qualifier in Indiana next year is in denial...and that's not a river in Africa! I wish them both the best of luck!
  22. 1oldwrestler: RELAX. The statement was "COULD" do it next season...chill out. These two are not of couple of PIXIES here! Too much pressure? Give me a break! I know Mr. Miracle and Mrs. Hildebrandt would agree with setting lofty goals and working to reach them. Save your caution for knitting class, not for these two fine wrestlers.
  23. Tonight, at CIA, I saw a friend that I haven't seen for awhile...Mrs. Hildebrandt, mother of female wrestler, Sarah Hildebrandt. I mentioned to her that I felt there was a race on for the first female to ever qualify for the IHSAA state finals in INDY. Of course, I was only guessing and I couldn't locate my copy of the Ancient Elder's book so I was wondering...has there ever been a female qualify for our state finals? If so, has any ever placed? After seeing Sarah Hildebrandt and Kayla Miracle wrestle, the race is ON for who will qualify for state next year...IMO, both could do it next season!!!
