  1. Montez was solid. I remember him from my first year of coaching. I remember Fattore having rough goes his first two years despite being well regarded. Total scholar through, ending up at U. of Chicago. His Hobart class with Colza and Black was a good one. Martsolf was one heck of a grinder.
  2. Lawds, this was every sectional meeting at Westview, but at least they fed you through it. I did sit through a regional (our sectional) meeting in Illinois in a Catholic League host school and they had beer, lol.

  4. Sorry to hear about Henry. He was so nice every time I saw him at events, but he was also so exacting and consistent. As much of an Indiana legend in the flesh as anyone will ever see. Thanks again, coach!
  5. Thanks for posting this, coach. I am appreciative of your willingness to adapt the tourney to give the wrestlers and teams their best possible scenario for fresh, competitive matchups. Does Coach Wilk ref at his own event?
  6. I certainly jest. Of course, if you go a little more east, you will be well-nourished by a Westview porkburger or ten...
  7. My guess is that it may continue until Indiana schools are firmly established in the national "scene". It has started with the easing of travel restrictions this year, as we saw this weekend. Not everyone can be on a team that can do that right now or be on one that is soon to get there, and some top-notch wrestlers may find themselves reviewing their options if they can't make it happen during their high school season(s).
  8. I went to host Mishawaka's page from this site's homepage "Teams" listings. Mish's schedule came up and I clicked on the date of the Al Smith and all of the teams are shown in the left column. https://indianamat.com/index.php?/teamschedules.html/2022-2023-season/al-smith-invitational-r4094/
  9. Combing results, the CPJV factored strongly into this tourney. Penn came through and kept winning. Rochester fought tooth and nail and will see plenty of Penn going forward. Elkhart and Jimtown had some good results as well.
  10. I have blamed Coach Snyder and will continue to do so. His Michiana roots have tainted young Kyle. However, I have made the journey back home and live thusly to tell the story of redemption and remorse.
  11. My bad. Was going by memory of seeing the names earlier.
  12. Rochester will be tough to handle through this round-robin format. Elkhart and Penn will do damage, as well as Jimtown.
  13. I am glad that nasty rumor I just started of there being only three semistates is false.
  14. Western definitely fits in there. They have been good for a long time.
  15. If you ever need some free proofreading help, I am willing. Saw a few typos, but didn't write them down.
  16. Has to suck pulling up all of the tables and having to put mats out daily, unless you have some quick Velcro Dollamurs or similar.
  17. Glad to see this warrior come back around to pass it on. A true lower-weight monster. Former Marine; Semper Fi.
  18. Thanks, Chuck. I figured the 1st one would happen. The 2nd one makes sense. The last two were a surprise.
  19. As a fellow Marine, I am both sad to see a guy go who was still reffing matches when I was coaching, and sadder we never connected.
