  9. The announcement at the Jimtown regional stated that Castle knocked out EMD. I forget what they said Castle scored but EMD had 16 or 19 something like that
  10. Hall can also take down anyone. He is tough to deal with in neutral.

  12. It will be interesting to see the change come the day of weigh-ins how this may spike in certain weight classes. However, the possibility of skin DQ's makes this increase somewhat false.
  13. I can promise Westview's to you by 10 p.m. tonight if given a fax number.
  14. yep- Westview P-mail me for any specifics; I am ill and going to bed and am not typing them out. Sorry!
  15. Busco, I'm in your MS league so it goes 75 lbs. to 145 by 5's and then to the H.S. classes from 152 onwards. top
  16. I think we are onto two separate trains of thought from your original post. Thanks for making clear exactly where you were going with it. My apologies for seeing a different problem, but I am not sorry for bringing up what I did. I would not argue to bolster a record against lesser opponents. That is foolish. What it encourages is teams to schedule sectional opponents so we can get the damn seeding meeting done in less than four hours! It gets old really quickly hearing all the podunk schools on the other end of the state some teams wrestle time after time and saying "no we don't wrestle them, no we don't wrestle them either." Then of course we mention teams in this area that they could easily put on their schedule and they give the same response. Its not hard to schedule five or six teams in your sectional, we currently meet seven of the ten teams in our sectional. I know there are teams in our sectional that wrestle three other sectional teams, with one being in a tournament so they don't necessarily get to see eachother. That makes for a long night and even makes the upper weight classes poorly seeded because the coaches just want to get out of the meeting.
  17. Sometimes, it can be easy and other times it is not and that is all I am willing to say. I agree with looking at a bunch of non-common opponents as wearisome, but when all things are equal, the argument always provides a clear winner based on the same issue. I don't think it is that hard to make changes in the schedule whether you are trying to upgrade or downgrade the schedule. We see every school in our sectional or have common opponents with them. It is when school will travel to the other end of the state and bring up those schools in seeding meetings for common opponents that it becomes tiresome.
  18. Your contention flies in the face of small schools building themselves up brick by brick and sanctifies the existing fraternity structure. In fact, I'd say it even encourages condecension. We all know there must be high and low standards set by the use of the ranking system. Yet, there is no determining factor or index used in the setting of schedules other than the results that come from these meetings. Should there be? I see the tangibly measured but artificially utilized concept of tradition supported by a sometimes too clear estimation of self-worth as big factors in figuring out who meets who during a season. Sour grapes? Sure. But remember, there are those of us who do have to find matches where we can get them and have to stomach duplicity from the fraternity when seeking to make changes.
  19. This move is also able to be hit from just going out to the side a bit instead of jacking him overhead. Simple double overhooks and fists high into the chest. Move hips into your guy as the lift begins and rotate them through, letting your feet follow through. Someone posted the video earlier of Reese Humphrey doing this exact move in a college meet. Fast Forward to about 8:00 or so. The other guy attempts a bear hug and Reese does the backflip (and gets called for a penalty). Would take unbelievable athleticism to pull this off. You say a HEAVYWEIGHT was doing this?? Woah! http://www.flowrestling.org/videos/coverage/view_video/234547-sunday-brunch-ohio-state-vs-hofstra/129463-133-2-reece-humphrey-os-dec-9-lou-ruggirello-h-7-4
  20. Poor boi! Let's leave him be! Not everyone can have their own personal genie, especially on the team title! In all seriousness, I sat there with my assistant coach during the 215 weight class finals and still had no clue who was going to win. During the faceoffs, it seemed PH would get it though. Good job to all. Next prediction: The Goshen Regional will have the most parity it has had in years of guys going to semistate.
  21. Isn't this also called the Barsagar? The Iranian position comes from taking a shot and the opponent sprawling out on top of the attacker. The attacker then slides his head in between the legs and pops up to his knees with the opponent dangling overtop. From here you use different techniques and variations of the Iranian position to complete your takedown. (popping one leg off, out the back door, swim move.....) The Barsagar is a finish for finishing the single leg with the opponent sprawled out on top of you. Definitely highlight reel material if you get him airborne. I get it, now. The way it was originally described made me think Barsagar especially the part about the one leg going airborne, which, as you said, is full of airtime if done well.
