  1. Sucks to hear Coach Sam won't be the HC at Snider next year. Too much turnover for the FW stalwart.
  2. Oh, no! Jason Cook seemed like the next perennial. A shame.
  3. Why not be well-versed to wrestle all three positions? Too many coaches are short-changing their guys in order to "win now". Getting five off the bottom is a big problem for some guys who have been coached one-dimensionably.
  4. I do think if someone can take you down four times in a row and you can't respond, you are the lesser wrestler in that match. Tired of seeing mat wrestlers play the odds and the flips. Doesn't work for most when the competition levels get higher.
  5. 2-1 3-1 4-2 6-2 6-3 9-3 8-4 12-4 10-5 15-5 12-6 18-6 14-7 21-7 16-8 24-8 18-9 20-10 22-11 24-12 26-13 28-14 30-15 First column is the hypothetical current tech fall takedown progression The second column shows the new rule progression. I would much rather see a tech on the feet end more quickly than see someone be ragdolled.
  6. An update: https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/10838407-jake-kadel-takes-william-penn-job-after-iowa-wesleyan-closes-school
  7. 126- I do not recall hearing of Micic ever being thrown in HS or college. Would Ellis win the neutral position? 126- Harper could stalemate Ayersman in neutral. Would Ayersman withstand Harper's top brutality? 132- Red-Angel is a wash. 132- Hump's offense was a little more fluid and unpredictable for Zeke.
  8. With IW closing, some team or teams are going to luck out getting Mia Palumbo and Adaugo Nwachukwu.
  9. Generalissimo, I love you. Never ran into you when I was coaching in the NE, but you are the real deal and I love your love for the sport. Andy, I attended clinics of yours while coaching and am proud to see you take things to the next level with the academy. Your coaching progeny speak to your value as much as your character. Keep going.
  10. He's not able to wrestle anymore. Just had both knees replaced.
  11. Gomez hit him with a double leg Death Valley Driver from pro wrestling. Miller might not come back this year from that. Pathetic to see Bono crying about the call. Won't say Gomez intended to drill him, but it was a drill nonetheless.
  12. Have these two teams ever had wrestling teams? Obviously, they are going to have wrestling now. I think they will shake up the league in this sport in short order.
  13. One of our neighboring states used to have a very lively board, but it petered out and put all of its season-specific info under a paywall. Joe has endured much for little and added a lot for less. I will be forever grateful.
  14. The NBA has ruled that DeMar DeRozen of the Chicago Bulls was fouled in the 4th quarter during last night's game, but it was not called.
  15. The Illinois 2A results really had some battles this year.
  16. It can also be done without heavy lineal continuity, although some helps. If you have a strong community club where parents all pitch in to help the whole team get to practices, meets, and tourneys, you can do pretty good. What I find that does not work so well is trying to get a collective of self-funded small unsuccessful teams to work together in the offseason to get better. There was a great fear by some of making it into a recruiting pool for one school or another. Perhaps pay for play is the best route going forward. Not sure how that will ever help great numbers of insolvent families have elite level athletes, but you never know how much farther the hand of philanthropy can stretch until you try.
  17. Lol, my bad. It's not a bad place for basketball, as they sometimes hold regionals there. Still a good place to see pro wrestling; just not the right fit for wrestling state, IMVHO.
  18. I don't think you want that for state. The HCC is nowhere near as modernized as the War Memorial. The comparison is night and day and that is all I will say to be nice.
  19. Same for me with Goin. The distance between him and the field was too great.
  20. As far as the Penn (and Mishawaka) kids go, don't forget that Jimtown was running off-season, Tom Dolly's club was there, along with Mr. Sandefer, the Elkhart schools, Bill Flatt and the other South Bend schools. Plus, a lot of the LaGrange and Stueben kids travel west. Josh Harper and Steve Stahl also had private spaces for a few years where good wrestlers became great.
