  1. Kentucky used to allow this, as several Kentucky schools attend the Mater Dei Holiday Classic. In recent years, however, no underclassmen from Kentucky have wrestled at Mater Dei, so they either don't allow it in Kentucky, or else the IHSAA won't allow them to do it over here.
  2. John Barnett, Gibson Southern, turns out a great program for a small school that gets eliminated by Mater Dei in the team regional every year. That being said, I still don't like to officiate his matches :

    Rivalries

I just hope that DuneFan doesn't run over any deer on the way to the meet Evansville Reitz and Mater Dei has to be as good as any... sells out the gym every time with 3000+ west siders.
  4. I saw Brian Waddle from The Times at the meet, and he is definately a good friend and fan to the wrestling community. Unfortunately, he isn't in charge of deciding how much press we get. Kudos to Ducky Waddle, though.... he definately does his part to promote the sport in the press.
  5. Since the officials at any tournament can wear whatever shirts the host school provides, maybe Y2 can donate 10 IndianaMAt shirts to Coach Wadkins for the officials
  6. We had 5 rooms there one year.... 3 were really bad (ripped carpet, holes in the wall, torn shower curtains, etc) , one was average, and one was OK. Because all we did was sleep there, and because the place was 100% full with other wrestling people, we did not feel unsafe. Rooming next to Dexter Larimore's dad and brother didn't hurt anything, though It's cheap and it's certainly the closest hotel you can get, but I'd stay in the Southport area.... 10 minutes away on I-65
  7. I believe that the champion always comes out of Pool A, but Coach Wadkins can correct me if I'm wrong. It's possible for a team to end up 4-1 in Pool B and still end up "behind" a team that finished 2-3 in Pool A. Pool wrestling only occurs in rounds 3-5, and which pool you wrestle in is determined as follows: Win your first two matches and you go to Pool A Win your first match, lose your second and you go to Pool B Lose your first match, win your second and you go to Pool C Lose your first two matches and you do to Pool D Pool A wrestles on mats 1-2 on the main floor Pool B wrestles on mats 3-4 on the main floor Pool C wrestles on mats 5-6 upstairs behind the bleachers Pool D wrestles on mats 7-8 in the wrestling room The ten officials are assigned by blind draw at the coaches meeting. The 2 "off" officials usually sit out in rounds 1-2, but usually assist in the Pool A finals.
  8. Due to a scheduling conflict, Lafayette Harrison will not be at the Mater Dei Holiday Classic this season Also, to clarify, the Mt Carmel, IL, school is from the southern Illinois city of Mt Carmel, and not the parochial school Mt Carmel from the Chicago area
  9. I think you can rise. That would take some of the load off of me Sat. It sounds like finding a parking place is going to be hard enough. Hey KH... Just put on a striped shirt, park in the back, and walk in the door at 7:30 or so with me. The parking is easy and they don't even charge you to get in
  10. Awesome! Thanks for posting the video link, too. This match is being rebroadcast (again) on the Big Ten Network on Monday, 12/08/08 at 3:00PM CST
  11. A husband??? That may slow down the amount of time spent on the internet... at least for the first 6 months. After that, it may actually increase the amount of time on the internet.
  12. Many of the records are also available via the www.ihsaa.org site
  13. A coach, a ref, and now a website administrator. The resume continues to grow
  14. I agree.. as tough a day as you will find on any single day in Indiana. At team state you would wrestle a maximum of three matches, while at the Calumet Traicoff you will wrestle five. 8 mats, 16 teams, 10 refs, and a great day of wrestling
  15. Feel free to use this domain liberally when in need of an official at the high school or middle school level, as well as for elementary or summer competition. Please update all threads ASAP when the date has been filled
