  1. To add to what Tyson has already stated. A reasoning behind this format was so that there'd be teams from across the state while still giving legitimate state title contenders an opportunity to compete. Having the top scoring team per semi-state allows for representation from 4 different areas of the state, with the remaining wildcard bids being earned by top programs.
  2. My guess is (and I'm just guessing) that they'll take the top 8 like they normally do with team scores. Then the 4 wrestlers who'll lose in the conso. 1st round will wrestleback for 9th and 10th with no team scores awarded. Again, total guess.
  3. These are the totals that I came up with between 1st and 2nd from '03. Mater Dei 161 Griffith 84
  4. I did that here. http://indianamat.com/messageboard/index.php/topic,21387.0.html
  5. Here are the finals. http://www.livestream.com/ihsaa/video?clipId=pla_f90df454-83c2-4406-80c2-e465fdb1fc1e&utm_source=lslibrary&utm_medium=ui-thumb
  6. Here are the top 10 for each field. Perry dominates the Coaches Trophy, while the New Castle claims toughest SS despite Merrillville's 8 champs. Perry has the strongest regional as Crown Point edges out Indy Washington for sectionals. *knock on wood that I tracked these scores right* Coaches Trophy Perry Meridian 119 Cathedral 73 Crown Point 66 Hanover Central 61 Yorktown 53 Evansville Mater Dei 47 Merrillville 46 Lake Central 40 Bellmont 32 Lawrence North 31 South Adams 31 Semi-State New Castle 429 Merrillville 400 FW Snider 271.5 Evans. Reitz 264 Regionals Perry Meridian 176.5 Jay County 171 Crown Point 133 Pendleton Heights 130 Rochester 113 Calumet 92 Castle 91.5 Mooresville 91.5 North Montgomery 77.5 Logansport 62 Sectionals Crown Point 127 Indy Washington 123 Lawrence Central 104 Jay County 89 Delta 82 Zionsville 77.5 Mooresville 67.5 Evans. Central 63 Plymouth 58 Mishawaka 55
  7. I'll have scores posted up later tonight. Nothing official, but I've been keeping track.
  8. Scores... New Castle 139.5 Merrillville 123.5 Evansville 99 Fort Wayne 95.5 (Headin to work now)
  9. These are the semi-state scores that I counted up. New Castle 88.5 Evansville 79 Merrillville 76 Fort Wayne 65.5
  10. I'm pretty certain Minton was at 40 for Jeff Classic. I know for a fact he wasn't at 145 because I was there. Minton and Rossbottom must've met during the regular season a couple of times also because he had several losses on the season. One being to Jankowski as well. But back to the point of semi-state wrestlebacks. Yes, this is one of the 2 biggest reasons for having them. Even if Rossbottom would've won at regionals, you'd have had a Minton/Jankowski ticket round match. No reason for the #2 and #3 guys going at it in an elimination match before state. The other reason, for me, is a freak accident. In that same semi-state as the Jankowski/Rossbottom match, my teammate Andrew Wolf was wrestling. He was ranked #1 heading into that tournament. He was beating his kid comfortably and had an illegal move called against him. The kid used all his injury time and took the victory. Andrew didn't even have a chance to finish the match or get to wrestleback to prove that he lost by a freak accident (not by inferior skill). We need wrestlebacks for these 2 reasons alone.
  11. Heritage Hills is by no means a shoe-in to qualify. Right now, they're in that 6th and final automatic slot with 2 wrestlers to go. They're holding off Leo by about 5 points who has 4 SQ's, and Yorktown by 6 points with 5 SQ's. If one or the other outperforms HH this week, you can expect some changes in the standings. The differential is very small, so any points these wrestlers can come up with will be critical.
  12. Definitely the PM-Cathedral show. PM gets 9 thru with 8 finalists, and Cathedral has 8 SQ's and 4 finalists. There are 3 head to heads at 160, 170, and 285.
  13. "1. Two points for the first takedown, three for each additional." Is it the first takedown between both wrestlers ONLY that's worth 2 points? or is it the first takedown for both wrestlers that's worth 2 points? For example: I take down my opponent for the first takedown. That's 2 points. I let him up and then he takes me down. Does he get 2 points, since it was technically his first takedown also, or does he receive 3 points? I like the idea of a 3 point takedown. I'd just rather it'd be for wrestlers who put their opponents on their backs but weren't able to hold them for exposure points.
  14. Dillon will score points if he advances to the next scoring level. Meaning he'll have to win at least one match tomorrow, otherwise he stays at the level he was eliminated at originally.
  15. Fixed. Yes, The remaining wrestlers that I tallied up are separate from the team scores that maligned has posted. Let's be clear on that. I might've missed one or two, but it'll give some perspective for coaches on where their teams are vs. the teams they are competing against, scoring-wise.

  17. Correct. The multiplier will be included in all points earned from sectionals thru the 1st round of semi-state. Points earned from the 2nd round of semi-state and beyond will exclude the multiplier.
  18. The multiplier is a part of the scoring system up to and thru the first round of semi-state.
  19. The reason why I posted that is just to show that it's not as difficult to become a member as it's been made out to be. The information is right there in the main page of the IHSWCA website. Anyone that's savvy enough to come to indianamat, navigate the website, and read through any of the threads from this messageboard. Is more than capable of printing out a membership form. With that being said, I do agree with everything that you've stated. When the IHSWCA is looking to grow numbers, the most important thing (which happens to also be the most basic) is communication. I'm sure there are more people, like yourself, that are trying to reach out to the association. This is actually my first year in the association, and I've had emails gone unanswered. For me, I just brush it off. However, for some, I can see how that might rub people the wrong way. Coach Struck is setting a good example for how the IHSWCA should be ran (as far as communicatin is concerned), and I hope this continues.
  20. http://www.ihswca.com/membershipform.pdf For you non-IHSWCA members. Just print this out, fill it out, mail it in and you'll be a member. Maybe Y2 can pin this to the top of the page. ;D
  21. The plan is to give updated scores after each round of the tournament.
  22. ttipton, Just to clarify, 6 teams (top scoring team in each semi-state and top 2 wildcards) will be determined by the scoring system only, while 2 are determined by committee selection (1 being selected after individual state, and the final team being selected during the season of the event). With 2 teams being selected via coaches' vote, that should take care of most anomalies that you speak of. Also, if there had been an event this year, every team that was a threat for a state title would've been invited. You name them, they would've been there.
  23. Is Indianapolis Marshall not going to be participating? This sectional is listed as having 11 teams on the IHSAA and Indianamat pages. However, trackwrestling has only 10 teams listed, with Indianapolis Marshall being the absent team.
