    C.J. Red, Assistant IU Coach
The 2022-23 season marks C.J. Red's first on the Indiana Wrestling coaching staff.
In year one, Red helped Indiana's program make big strides. The Hoosiers' 8-5 record in 2022-23 was the team's best since 2016-17, that included three Big Ten wins and three ranked victories, as well.
Red provided valuable experience of wrestling at the highest stage and in recent time, after just finishing his collegiate career in March 2022. He worked closely with Indiana's light and middleweights and helped push Graham Rooks (149 lbs.) to have the best season for an Indiana wrestler since 2017.
Rooks went 29-11 and reached the Round of 12 at his third career NCAA Championships. This was the furthest an Indiana Wrestler had gone in the tournament since 2017 when Nate Jackson got eighth place at 184 lbs. Rooks also finished in fifth place at the Big Ten Championships.
Red, an Indiana native, returns to his home state after completing his highly successful collegiate wrestling career at Nebraska this past spring.
At Nebraska, Red was a standout in the lineup at 141 lbs. throughout his entire career from 2016-2022. Red was a three-time NCAA All-American ––– earning sixth place at the 2021 NCAA Championships, as well as eighth place in 2019 and seventh place in 2018. In total, he was a five-time NCAA Championships qualifier from 2018-2022.
Additionally, Red earned multiple podium finishes at the Big Ten Championships over the years. He finished in second place in 2019, third in 2020, fourth in 2021 and seventh place in 2018.
For his Cornhusker career, Red had a 98-46 overall record and a 39-20 dual record. He won 22 bouts via fall with five tech falls and nine major decisions to his name.
The move to the Indiana coaching staff will be Red’s first coaching role in his professional career.
Prior to competing at Nebraska, Red had a legendary high school wrestling career. He attended New Palestine High School where he wrestled for coach Chad Red Sr.
Red went 183-0 in his prep days, including being a four-time state champion. He was deemed the top 132-pounder in the country according to the Asics FloRankings in the class of 2016. He won the 2015 FloNationals crown, was the 2014 Super 32 champion and 2014 Fargo Junior Cadet Nationals champion, all at 126-lbs.

For sure, As I said Joe, the weight class is deep. Lots of respect towards New Pal.

I will say as good as Roncalli is, looking at common opponent scores maybe it’s a little more equal than people think. For example Roncalli beat Fishers 43-36. Portage beat Fishers 48-30. We beat portage 42-20.

looking at Commons it could translate to us having a similar score with Roncalli that New Pal had.

By no means am I saying we are better than Roncalli, New Pal or any of the teams we are discussing. I’m just saying from those scores it’s another reason for tipping in our favor to get voted in.

Again, mush respect for all those programs. Pretty cool to be mentioned in with all these great 3A programs. I know most of these coaches personally at the top 3A schools and they do a hell of a job.

Coach Tonte got a reaction from DrunkJoeNamath in Marian University Head Coach Steven Bradley at Franklin RTC Wednesday 6-7:30 pm.
HEAD COACH 6TH SEASON INDIANAPOLIS '05 Former three-time Indiana state wrestling champion and Beech Grove standout Steven Bradley serves as the first-ever head wrestling coach at Marian University. Entering his fourth season, Bradley has quickly put the Knights on the map.   The 2018-19 season was Marian's breakout year under Bradley as the program won the American Midwest Conference title and sent nine wrestlers to the NAIA Championships. Chris Sharp, Brandon James, Mason Miranda and Bailey Moore all won AMC Championships at their respective weight classes and James was named the conference's Newcomer of the Year. For the team's success, Bradley was named the AMC Coach of the Year.   In year two, Bradley coached the first NAIA All-American in program history in Brett Johnson. Johnson finished eighth in the nation in the 165 weight class. Bradley also guided Trezdon O'Neal (165) and Elijah Bailey (HWT) to NAIA Nationals. Under Bradley's watch, the Knights garnered three All-American Midwest Conference selections, while Johnson won Newcomer of the Year and Ethan Bunce won Freshman of the Year.

Bradley brought a wealth of experience within the wrestling world to Marian. In his 10 seasons as a collegiate coach, he has helped guide 33 all-americans, 73 national qualifiers and three national champions.

In his first head coaching job, Bradley spent three seasons at Lincoln College in Illinois. From 2012-14, he earned back-to-back regional coach of the year accolades after guiding his team to a pair of team regional championships in 2013 and 2014. In his three seasons, he coached 12 NJCAA All-Americans, 26 national qualifiers, two national champions and had a 21-9 record in dual matches. In his first season, he guided the team to a third-place finish at the 2012 NJCAA National Championship. He was also the director of the Lincoln College Fitness Center during his time as head coach.

Bradley spent 2008-11 as assistant coach at Lincoln before being elevated in 2012. During his time as an assistant, he worked with 10 all-americans, 28 national qualifiers and one national champion.

His first college coaching stop was as assistant coach at the University of Indianapolis from 2005-08. In his four seasons as an assistant at UIndy, he worked with 11 all-americans and 19 national qualifiers.

In 2008, Bradley was inducted into the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame as a wrestler.

Bradley began his collegiate wrestling career at Lincoln College and was a NJCAA national runner-up in 2000. He graduated from Lincoln in 2000 and continued his studies at UIndy where his career was cut short due to injury. He took up coaching with the Greyhounds and earned his bachelor of science in 2005. He completed his master of coaching education from Ohio University in December of 2013.

He resides in Indianapolis with his wife, Maggie, and two sons, Camden and Caleb.
