  1. Awesome match by Rioux for the title.   Did Schaefer beat Rioux three times this year prior to that match?  If so, I don't know what is harder:

    - winning 4 matches in a row against the same opponent

    - after being beat 3 times by the same guy, then coming back and beating them when it counts

There are some options, just the biggest obstacle is that there is such a short turn around between getting your qualifiers and then getting tickets for family and teams then for the general public.

Some ideas I have had or heard from others.

    1. Assigned sections instead of seats. I assume this is possible with enough "service" fees on Ticketmaster, but it would be great for teams and fans to converge on a specific section instead of exact seats. I really miss the pockets of fans from each team that cheer loudly together.

    2. Teams get X amount of tickets to sell per qualifier beyond the parent/school tickets. If it was say 10 per qualifier they would get the 4(well should be 4) for family and 4 for school, plus 10. This would mean just over 4000 tickets which is a lot. The unused ones would be given back. The hardest part would be the turnaround time to get them to schools and get them back into the pool if not used.

    3. Only all session tickets.

    4. Open All-Session tickets on Wednesday and single session tickets on Thursday.

The assigned seating isn't going away, general admission is bad and makes for a tremendously less enjoyable experience.

All session tickets for a day before single session.  And by single session I mean Friday and all day Saturday.   Breaking Saturday up into two sessions for tickets is weird.

  3. Is this better?
    - after each wrestler gets their allotment then the sale to general public happens at 10 AM on Wednesday.   These tickets are ALL SESSION only tickets. It’s crappy that all session tickets were being sold for the top row of the upper deck while the individual session seats were available in the lower bowl.

    - any seats not sold during this time then go to a Friday session and a Saturday session ticket. Each would be good for the whole day.  These go on sale on Wednesday night at 8 PM

    - you can still do walk up sales but it’s just what is left for that day.

    - the purpose is the ALL SESSION tickets should have priority seating.

Of course Evansville embraced the State Finals, there is nothing else going on in that town.  Indy is a much more logical permanent location.  I really disliked the Friday schedule and format.  The crowd size appeared to be down considerably, lots of empty seats in a half-sized arena.  Will wait to see official numbers from IHSAA.

I feel like the Friday schedule was same as last year in Indy.  Maybe I’m wrong.

I will say on behalf of the Ford Center, we really did try and I personally worked my tail off for this one. As a wrestling fan I was pumped to see it coming to our place. I’m sorry the lighting wasn’t the greatest for the finals, it was the best we could do with what we had to work with while trying to keep that finals feel. Originally they were just gonna keep the sports lights on, but I didn’t think that felt right. Had a blast all weekend and had the best seat I’ve ever had for a wrestling finals weekend.

Anyone who was at Gainbridge last year will tell you it was so dark it was hard to see the wrestlers.
when they did finals walkouts the lights that were used to spotlight the wrestlers….could they not have been used to spotlight the center circle?

I am going to assume that the issue with the electronic tickets was the inability to handle the amount of people that would be using their devices to show their tickets. Was told in some friendly conversations this morning it was an issue at last weekend's Semi-State. So I can see why the want/need to go old school with a paper ticket, was necessary to avoid hold ups when entering the arena. If you have an electronic ticket, I would recommend downloading it to your device to avoid any hold ups when entering with it later today. Best of luck to everyone today, both wrestlers and ticket holders!

That is so dumb if so.   I always download my tickets at home and put them in my electronic on my phone.    Concerts that sell out Ford Center do it everytime.

Indiana wrestling community fighting for remaining tickets at Ford Center.  $130 tickets on resell app. I love it.

Looking on the app there are tons of session 1 tix available.  I would guess 2-3k

The only thing our group had to provide last night was the order #.
    Good luck

We had to show order number and then ID of person who ordered.  Not the card though.   So I’m thinking people who ordered could send a screenshot of their ID to have someone else pick it up.

So even though we were told that the tickets would convert to electronic tickets, they are still will call only? I have tickets for my group, but will not be able to be at state until Saturday. How do I transfer my tickets?

I would call Ford Center and see what you can do to have someone else pick up your tickets.   They said All Session tickets are Will Call only and that was a Ticketmaster/IHSAA decision.

  10. Sorry typo.    There are tons of session 1 tickets available.   But just a very small handful of all session tickets available.    Why don’t they just make every ticket an all session ticket?  Or at worst have a Friday ticket and a Saturday ticket but no all session ticket.   What’s the benefit to having 3 different session tickets and an all session ticket?   Make it make sense.

  11. Convinced after looking at the tickets available in All Session and Session 1 that tickets should only be sold in All Session or day 1 and day 2.   The different sessions seem to be killing attendance and making it harder to get tickets.
