  1. The only team on the list that hasn't won a state title is Avon. If a team gets bumped for the top 10, it's them. Snider hasn't done enough to crack the top 10 over teams like Bellmont, Bloom South or Delta
  2. Looks like Mendez will be up at 141 this season. Flo has him ranked #3 preseason. How does everybody think he will transition from 133 to 141? We all saw Micic struggle making the jump. I think Mendez is easily top 4 at the weight. How does he stack up against a guy like Real Woods?
  3. What a great run for Micic! Congratulations!
  4. Clearly. Thanks for pointing that out, chief
  5. Terry wasn't my guy. Just the guy who I though would win in '91. No biggie.
  6. Maybe not, but you must have forgotten that Terry stomped him in the semis in '90, by a major I believe. So a healthy Terry would have been the big favorite in '91. But hats off to Early, he was the champ in '91.
  7. Hopefully he regains his form. It was tough to watch last year.
  8. There were only a couple of wrestlers in '92 that I would have put big $ on to win. Brandon Ingalls and David McCubbins. Upsets do happen, but I think those two were the safest bets in the state. Unfortunately an injury happened and now we have a bunch of what ifs. LOL
  9. That's what wrestle offs are for. The kids determine who is in the line up and who isn't. Sure they could. They could finish 2nd and 3rd at regional and be in the same half of the bracket at semi state. If they both win their first match, they meet in the ticket round.
  10. not taking anything away from him. He could only wrestle who was in front of him and he earned it. However, when the defending state champ and best wrestler in the state is missing due to injury, it makes the bracket weaker. I would have loved to see that match play out. I have my opinion and you have yours, but we'll never know.
  11. Talamantes is fortunate that McCubbins got injured and wasn't able to wrestle. Nobody was going to beat him in '92.
  12. FWIW, I was checking some football rosters across the state the other day. I checked out Snider's roster and Veazy is on the roster as a RB....listed as 8'0" and 320 lbs https://www.maxpreps.com/in/fort-wayne/fort-wayne-snider-panthers/football/roster/
  13. Masoumi is a monster. Just watched his match vs. Carroll. Holy cow he's good. It wasn't competitive at all. Medez loses in the finals to Iran 5-2.
  14. Cassioppi and Schultz will have a say in who is in the finals. Davison could as well
  15. I know you are joking, but IU can't even get our elite HS guys to go there, let alone the best hvy in the world
  16. Gable doesn't even count himself as an Indiana wrestler, so we shouldn't claim him.
  17. Veazy is clearly one of, if not the best wrestler in the state. So this is not a knock on him. I know you are his biggest fan on here, I deservedly so, but calling any 16 year old a future Olympian is certainly a stretch. Guys with superior HS, Free, Greco credentials have failed to make it to that level. i'd say that the 2032 Olympic games would be his window. So much can happen between now and then. How about we just enjoy his HS career for the next two years and see where that takes him. I'd love to see him get to that level, but let's enjoy where he is for now
  18. it is incredibly difficult to have to go through the challenge tournament and then jump to Final X the next day for the Olympic berth. It is vitally important for Nick Lee to grab a medal this year so he doesn't have to run the gauntlet. He can sit and wait while everybody else beats each other up
  19. I think the majority of 70 kg, it not all, will drop to 65 kg. Nobody wants to go through Nolf and then a fresh Dake to make the team. Same for the 61 kg guys. They don't want to deal with Nick, Yianni, Zain and the others. They will cut to 57 where there isn't clear favorite. The big question is how will guys like Vito, Fix, DeSanto do with that weight cut. Vito looks like a completely different wrestler this year vs when he was at 125/57 kg. The flo guys were saying the other day that the cut to 57 looks like it is catching up with Gilman. Throw in a healthy (hopefully) Spencer Lee and 57 kg is a complete toss up.
  20. Agreed. Seems like the Rooks bros have been there forever. anyway, here is my prediction 125 - Ramos 133 - toss up 141 - Rooks 149 - Rooks 157 - Gilcher 165 - Buell 174 - Baumann 184 - Toss up 197 - I'm pulling for Sollars here 285 - Bullock
