  1. At least the mats are getting cleaned. Make sure to soak your shirt in disinfectant water.
  2. But that is not a defensive pin, because it is not cause by the guy on defense. Not to be too technical. I have seen one pin in my history that involved the offensive guy pinning himself and that one, I would have considered it more like a freestyle instantaneous pin, because it was caused by a roll through cradle with a slight hesitation when he crossed his back.
  3. If he wants to keep his belt he won't shy away!!!!!
  4. I think there may be some added issues involving this because of the added part about the defensive guy initiating the move and the having control. The only reason I state this opinion is because in the rules meeting a few days ago, the ref’s talked about that if bottom guy initiates the move on bottom exposing his back, than top guy has to have control for 2 seconds before counting can start. I would assume the same goes if the bottom guy was to create a situation putting the top guy on his back.
  5. If you are going to attack my first statement than read the second.....
  6. Let me correct part of my statement. The amount of kids willing to make the sacrifice is dramatically less. Talent and skill are better because of more opportunity than there used to be. Like Y2CJ41 said, "You put Ellis, Gable, etc. in this era and they would thrive just as much." Y2CJ41
  7. I also wrestled during this time. I also coach and work in a high school every day now. The work ethic of the kids today is not the same of the generation that Lance came from, nor is his or mine the same as the studs that stepped on the mats years before us. It is like arguing takedown records today verses 30 years ago. Back then everything was about domination in not letting anyone score points on you. Now domination can mean that, putting on a takedown show or other ways. It is fun to argue about who is better, but not sure you can compare styles. If he was brought up in this era he more than likely would have wrestled a bit different.
  8. This year’s magazine is equivalent to......... http://nypost.com/2014/08/25/worlds-most-expensive-comic-book-sells-for-3-2m/
  9. I think his LEGS!!!!!!! LOL......get it the king of leg cradles!!!!!!
  10. Must be getting close to season!!!!!!! The testosterone is flying high!!!!!
  11. Check this out if you get time. It aired on Tuesday, but ESPN has been showing all week. It is the last 10 minutes. Narrated by Dan Gable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAkRlsMOJN8&feature=youtu.be
  12. For that I may make 6. Might be 206, but it has a 6!
  13. Nice job!!!!!!!! Keep up the great work. Greatly appreciated.
  14. Warsaw had a Middle School wrestler that won Middle School State Cross Country, but went out for soccer this year.
  15. My son must be too excited about being there......Talked to him for 25-30 min tonight and he didn't mention anything about it. Talked about all the great wrestling partners he was able to practice with and how much fun he was having. Maybe he was standing by a fan...... ;D
  16. Lisa, I would like to apologize for being one of those people that used him in an example, even though I tried to disclaimer by using the terms that I hate using hear say. This is a perfect example of why I hate to do that, because a lot of times it is not true information. There was no negative intentions meant toward him or your family in my post in anyway. Once again I want to apologize for my post where I used his case (sadly a wrong version) to help support my statement.
  17. Although I appreciate your kind words about Hatch, I will state this for the record 2 current staff members were on the record as coaches for that match. What Coaching Is There are many possible definitions of coaching, and it may mean different things to different people. However, to better understand the definition of coaching, it is good to see what the two primary governing coaching bodies have to say about defining their profession. To paraphrase the ICF (International Coaching Federation) definition, coaching is partnering with your clients to inspire and motivate them to maximize their professional and personal potential. To paraphrase the ICA (International Coach Academy), the definition of coaching is a collaboration between the coach and the client to help clarify their values and achieve their goals. The ultimate goal is to help the client achieve a fulfilling life. From these definitions, we can conclude that coaching can be defined as: •a collaboration between client and coach to create roadmaps and strategies for success in a client’s professional and personal life. •a method of motivating and inspiring clients to identify, clarify, and achieve their goals. •a tool to help clients create a life or career plan that promotes success, health, and happiness. One Powerful Definition of Coaching Therapy and counseling often look to the past to find issues and problems. Once the problems are identified, therapists and counselors attempt to understand and heal these issues. However, coaching looks to the future to make someone’s life better and more fulfilling. Coaching begins with a client’s desire for personal and professional improvement and success. Coaching is not about why clients got to where they are; it is about how to get them from their current place to the place they desire to be in the future. Unlike consulting and therapy, which often looks backward and is reactive, coaching is forward thinking and proactive. Thanks goes to: http://coachestrainingblog.com/becomeacoach/what-is-the-definition-of-coaching/10828/ for summing this up greatly And sometimes coaching is knowing how to manage the situation: Including making wrestling-----JUST PLAN FUN LIKE IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE!!!!!!!!! Furthermore, this is not a Jarred Brooks photo. If you follow the link that I leave below you will see where it came from. I'm saddened that he would feel this way, but he has that right. Both Brooks kids gave multiple kids, that are still in the program hopes, dreams and some great kids to look up too. (If I'm allowed and given permission to state my feelings about these young men) I still follow Justin and just a quick great job out to him for winning regionals. But if you still after looking at the link have issues with the picture I will change it for you! http://lincolnherald.net/main.asp?SectionID=32&SubSectionID=212&ArticleID=4936 (the picture is reversed in this paper)
  18. I love it. As a past competitor and now a coach, I use it as a positive for our wrestlers. We state to the kids that it is a sign of weakness! Now in a physiological effect, if I recall right in advanced anatomy class, stopping after hard activity for short times without moving, I believe that lactic acid starts to accumulate in the muscle cells or some think the depletion of potassium in muscle cells causes this, nonetheless there is something to it. So, I would believe that sitting still for a minute or two on the mat would be a disadvantage to that athlete and slow that athletes reactions. Now my athlete has a psychological and physical advantage!!!!!
  19. I always thought it would be more beneficial to do hydration test at sectionals. It's not that I think that coaches and AD's are lying. I just find it hard that most kids can pass them by the time they get to semi-state. I understand that the rule is set up to insure that kids are not cutting to much weight at the beginning of a season, but I think that if its a rule set up by the ISHAA than it should be carried out by their paid officials. That would seem a bit more fair and official to me. I have not heard of any people asking to see official weigh in sheets to check and see if these kids did their cut down correctly. As a pass wrestler myself, I understand the weight cutting gig and cut 20 plus pounds both my senior and junior years. If there is going to be a rule set, that could be corrupted than it needs to have a check and balance system that works. I understand that we now have taken recording this info out of the coaches hands and put it into an AD's or PT's hands, but there is what I would consider still a conflict of interest. There are a lot of kids that I believe would not pass hydration test. As a Registered Nurse I believe I am qualified to make such a statement. It is easy enough to see the sunken eyes, chapped lips and lethargic actions of these normally explosive energetic athletes.
