  1. This is my personal feelings. But you cannot pick and choice my quotes. I gave an exception of how I personally could see it being okay. You are talking to a coach that is lucky to get 15-20 kids to come out a year at a school with 2200 students. Trust me I understand the hardships of a small program. It just doesn't happen at schools with only 500 students.
  2. This is hard to answer, because I do understand that more kids mean more people at state, means more money and popularity for the sport. I would say yes to only 8 qualifiers with 2 classes as long as there were true wrestlebacks.
  3. I get the point about smaller schools not being able to break through. I personally like the single classing of individual state. It's because I'm a product of the system and take pride in the fact there were only 16 kids in each weight at state. I am also aware that it probably hurts the sport, but I don't feel it does as much as over zealous parents, bad coaching or bad grades. If there were to be a class system, I would still want to see a championship round where the winners wrestle for a true champ.
  4. I was somewhat being sarcastic, but things do seem kind of different the last 5-6 years. If memory serves me, this is about when HYWAY moved into the North. I don't have a problem with either. My son wrestles in both, well maybe not Freestyle state this year which is sad since he is a defending state freestyle champ. But we have been working on what a "gut wrench" is and how to counter it......
  5. So, let me get this straight.....You are saying since Indianapolis doesn't have a pro baseball team, that the Colts automatically win the Super Bowl this year!!!!!!
  6. That is what happens when you talk with the enemy......"HYWAY" That will teach us......
  7. I would maybe say not pushed to their limits, because of lack of partners, lack of leadership from older kids and/or lack of support. Some of those could be considered not working hard enough.
  8. like wrestlers wearing headgear, earphones or sweatbands during national anthem.
  9. Can you put phone numbers behind each kids name. I would like to call each and congratulate them. LOL....Just kidding people no recruiting going on here......
  10. This is too bad, that our sport has became a dictatorship. I understand that Bobby has more important things like Basketball and Football, but it would be nice (I know blue sky thinking) if they would allow each sport to decide or have an opinion that could be discussed and voted on.
  11. This can easily be done, because Regional is a total of only 3 matches now. It would probably only add an hour or two, which would finish most up by 4pm. With this being done, and if Semi-State was seeded by 1 & 2's with 3 & 4's as a blind drawl alone would be a huge improvement.
  12. I could live with things being exactly the same till Semi-State. At Semi-State you do a true wrestle back (including for second if needed). At state you seed 1 & 2's and random draw 3 & 4's. It would make Semi-State a touch longer, but make things much more accurate. Makes for a long day at Semi-State, but if you keep 4 mats it wouldn't be that bad.
  13. Warsaw Wrestling Club will be opening it's room up, located on the second story of Warsaw High School on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:00 pm starting March 18th. For any information please email Coach Hatch at warsawwrestling@gmail.com. Warsaw Wrestling Club carries it's own private insurance policy. Warsaw Wrestling Club is not affiliated with Warsaw Community Schools. Warsaw Community Schools will be held harmless of any situation that involves the club.
  14. If you say.......We push a fast pace wrestling style. I personally think it is great when someone that is tired stops the match, because acid builds up in their muscles and makes them slower. Plus I know that we have broken the wrestler!!!! I personally think it is classless for coaches and wrestlers that abuse the system by calling injury time also. So, know if you abuse injury time......YOU ARE THAT GUY!!!
  15. Like most things in the world there are extremes in both ways. There are people that are known for calling injury time when they are in trouble of being scored on or gassed in a match. Fans have a right to Boo, because they paid money to come into the event. I might not agree with the fact that they are booing, but that is like saying I don't agree with what team they are cheering for. Welcome to the United States, where we have the choice of being a butt head or not.
  16. how about spitting dragon, bucking mule or sleeping sloth's
  17. Did anyone go back and check to see how that other website did at picking at the beginning of season?
  18. You guys get coffee and water? Hospitality room closes at 830 in Merrillville.
  19. What is the realization of possible satellite meetings. Have meetings with area reps and they bring new info both ways. Create a place on ISWA site or here for information to be voted on or talked about. I'm sure there are a ton more ideas that would cost less money and create great outcomes. There are much smarter people out there with technology than I am. I think it would be hard to do, as mentioned earlier a feed online, because it would take to long to translate all the post in a timely manner. But a feed could be done as a small group giving out information.
  20. Because not all of us are set up as clubs. A good example is if I own a business and I want your business, sell you a service, or product, than I come to you or search you out. Now this situation is a little bit different, but not much if you are trying to build the success that ISWA is saying that they want with fs/gr. Much like it has been discussed about how to make a WOW factor at home wrestling matches to bring more kids into wrestling, like a business approach. All I keep seeing from the ISWA, from this post, is how it is everyone's fault because we don't know what happens in a meeting that you promote on your website. A website that most of us visit 1, maybe 2 times a year. Like I have said in earlier post, I'm not hear to argue. I feel like ISWA at this point should take the high road, and figure out a solution to the gap in communication. ISWA maybe the only option for Freestyle in Indiana, but not the only option for wrestling and in this way makes them that business I talked about earlier.
