Did the seeds change? Vito is on the opposite side of the bracket. McGhee is his 2nd round opponent.
You referring to 133? If so McGonagol is out. Jesse Mendez moved to the 13 seed so moved away from Vito.

I think Mendez wins that rematch
I think so as well. IMO, if the B1G match was officiated like the finals (i.e. quicker stalemates & stall calls) or Mendez doesn't choose down, I think he would have won that one.

Look at Wawasee they are a tiny rural school
Not a tiny school. Enrollment shows over 900. SMH... The only thing watered down would be some people's opinion. All I observe when a school wins a class championship is excitement and community pride.
I went to a large school about 2,000, my kids' school was about 500. Big difference in many areas, resources, facilities, number of coaches and fewer practice partners (especially quality partners) to name a few. Yes, you have to put in the hard work and a lot is accomplished outside of the school season. But there is more to it than work harder for small schools.

I'm guessing Silas comes out in the 5-6 range?
Maybe, could see it a little higher. I realize rankings aren't the same as seeds, but most of the final rankings had Silas 8 and Dean 9. Not too often you see the top 7 ranked guys not from the B1G. Regardless, should be interesting to see how it shakes out and an exciting weight class to watch.

A few that caught my eye, Austin Gomez in at 149, Paddy Gallagher in at 157, DJ Washington in as well. Not to surprised, but no Brayton Lee.

Nice win for G. Rooks over Gomez! I believe this was his first match back from injury and he didn't seem like the normal Gomez to me. Then he gets a slam call vs Miller (MD) and subsequent DQ in the consos and is out. Miller MF next match. Maybe Gomez will get an at large bid, otherwise he's done.

To me adding a riding time point to go along with a 4 pt nearfall is big time overkill. You can earn both, but tying them together just misses the mark, IMO.
I don't see the sport as needing to be fixed. Rules can be tweaked, but no need for an overhaul.
Not adding a riding time point. If you ride a minute, you currently get a point. I am saying you don't get that point unless you also scored a near fall in the match.
-
I like the idea of no riding time point unless near fall was scored. This season seems like a lot of parallel riding, no attempts to turn and no stall call. Also like the 3pt takedown. Doubt either will happen though.

Logically... it should go to whoever was a 4 time runner up. If no one, then a three time runner up. So...
Delaney Ruhlman and Tristan Tonte are both three time runner ups. They are the only wrestlers to my knowledge who have made the finals three times without winning.
I get what you are saying, but with the format of the state finals, sometimes the second best wrestler loses before the finals. Draw can impact the strength of the path so to speak. Sometimes the "finals" happen in the semis. I don't think it's as clear cut as you would initially think.

Agree, Maybe I watch too much college wrestling, but the out of bounds calls seemed very inconsistent. Anyone know if there was some discussion on this regarding the mat layout or something? I liked the new layout, just thought some of the calls were incorrect with my understanding of the rule.
As stated, a tough job and overall thought the refs did a nice job!

So now New Castle is a small school? I mean 800+ students, smallish by todays enrollment numbers I guess. They are more likely 2A due to large schools becoming larger and larger. This impacts the calculations. Small IMO is under 500, being a little generous. 503 was lowest 2A and just over 1,000 was the largest.
Not dissing New Castle at all! They earned 5th place in the IHSAA tournament as a team and should be proud of the accomplishment! However, they weren't in Team State this year and are outside looking in right now for next year. Maybe they get in, my point is this illustrates the difference between the two "tournaments".

Well, I didn't care for the shadows on the stream, but, liked it overall. Sometimes it's too dark in the stands with a bright spotlight on the mat, don't like that in person or a stream. May be hard to please everyone. I know in the past have felt it was too dark for safety reasons in person.

He certainly was fun to watch, despite the worst singlet in the Finals.
Uh, not even close to worst. I won't give specifics, but will say it was purpleish.

May need to refresh or fast forward on IHSAAtv. I had to missed the intros...

Thought it started at 7:30pm Eastern? If not, gulp....

The whole idea that consolation matches have a minute shaved off the first period to me is idiotic.
Agree, I think it should be full 2 minutes starting at Sectional. The consolations are important for team scores and placement for the following week. 1 minute can mean a lot in a match, more time to score and conditioning is a factor.

Guess I am confused. This is from IHSAA.org:
Streaming: All matches on Friday and Saturday, including Saturday night’s championship round, may be viewed via live stream for a subscription fee of $15 via IHSAAtv.org. If you have a FloPro+ plan, you may also view the livestream at FloWrestling.com. Saturday night’s championship round may also be found on the Bally Sports+ app.
I don't have Flo, is FloPro+ a different plan or something? I purchased the package on IHSAAtv, I as able to login for the finals tonight, just said broadcast scheduled. So assuming (& hoping), Finals are included.

Anyone else catch the weird stalling call in the Graham-Bahl match? Ended up not mattering but Graham was on top and was pulling Bahl back in and got called for stalling.
Maybe a timing call by the ref? Calls it as Graham pulls him back? IMO, Graham should have been hit earlier in the period.
Worst stall IMO was on Beck vs Clark. Had a cross wrist and appeared to be to the side looking to turn? Ref never called Clark at all and he was parallel most of the 3rd. Not very consistent.

Believe Nick Hull is on 4 as well. Mat 1 is Noah Warren and cant remember the other guys name, pretty sure an ex PM wrestler. One of them i believe works with or helps at CG, gets very excited when they are up. Haha. Doing a nice job!

I always thought it was so I could catch up watching duals on B1G+.
Sorry, no concrete answer. Assumed maybe for wreslters to get healthy?

I think more casual fans are streaming. By casual I mean no family or friends wrestling, that's a different story. Otherwise, why deal with the hassle, driving down, parking, and other expenses. Sit at home relaxed, watch, better food and beverages, plus can watch matches you miss via archives. I purchased the stream package for archives and planned on attending live, but changed my mind this AM trying to get tickets, decided to save some money and hassle. Just my .02c and I am not against streaming, glad it's an option. Heck, combine onsite attendance and streaming, might be more revenue which would be a good thing.

Obviously, don't know what's going on behind the scenes with Lee or Iowa. Seems like somethings been up all season to me. I thought he would FFT last night after the loss. If he won, bet he would be wrestling tonight. Some "funny" comments I have seen:
- I guess excuses are for wusses unless you lose.
- He's with his mom getting new glasses.
- He's too good for wrestlebacks.
Bottom line, hope he is ok and loved watching him compete. One of the most dominant of all time. Wish it would have ended differently, but honestly, he doesn't owe us anything.
