  1. Not exactly upsets. Braye and Karges are quality opponents.
  2. It's simple actually. Look at the representation of schools from each sectional in the Championship bracket. Over all the Castle Sectional was more. Evenly distributed. MD obviously takes the most into the finals as usual, but ended up with two champions. Reitz and Heritage Hills with 3 apiece taking only 3 each. It's the same argument as always, quantity wins tourneys, but Quality of the wins is what matters in the end. If things had been left alone the Central Sectional would have had a banner year at Regionals. You can look at it how ever you like. In the end they kids have to wrestle and winning each match is what is important. But placement coming into a tourney DOES impact the next weeks tourney. Do you honestly think it is probably some of the brackets would have look like they did if the sectional alignment had remained the same? It was a Black and Blue day out there though. A lot of banged up kids and gutsy performances.
  3. It's all a matter of whose turn is it to win this week? The 4 that "should" go are all in line to make that happen IF they wrestle to get there, Any of the 4 can win the Semi-State, much less the Regional.
  4. Castle holds the edge here for total Qualifiers. Jon H is pretty well on for what I see for Champions. Screwing with the Sectionals really messed with the Regional Balance, and possibly the Semi-State pairings as a matter of course. Sometimes we have to look at the science and not just the immediate wants of a program or two to strengthen ALL of the wrestlers. But whatever, EVERYONE will have to wrestle their best to make it through and setup Semi-State as positively as possible.
  5. Regardless of all that...I am hoping all are healthy and ready to give it their all on Saturday! Should be a tough day from beginning to end and a good primer for Semi-State!
  6. Each Regional is given a choice...The Red Pill or the Blue Pill...Thus the Matrix is formed
  7. I have to say we have it worse...We have Kentuckians.
  8. Hampster Style ROCKS... (If you know the movie - SHAME ON YOU!)
  9. Everything works better down here...We even have what is called Running Water inside our buildings and everything!
  10. True...But people in the South Western part of the state have NO IDEA how to drive on snow or ice! I think having the tow truck concession at the Regional would be a killer money maker for a school!
  11. The weather forecast is looking like colder than it has been so for this winter, and snow and ice predicted. Never fails!
  12. I thought welch was going to snap Todrank in half going for the point and the ref just stared at his shoulders on the mat like he had never seen such a thing before. That is how kids end up seriously injured and possibly out of the sport for good. Not knocking Todrank, but dang it was hard to watch.
  13. Honestly I can see both sides of this. On one side the kids do have a ton of pressure that actually is made worse by people logging on and posting things that are honestly rather stupid. No matter what we may want to believe, they are still kids after all. The other side is their are lessons to be learned from everything in life and Infortunantly one of those lessons is that people will say the damnedest things and then swear they meant something else. If they learn anything at all from any of this I hope it is that adults are usually just as wrong about things as teenagers. I am just as guilty as the next person of being wrong but I have to say if you think the kids don't read this and it doesn't have any effect on them, then you are just plain nuts. To illustrate that point I will tell you that one of the most common things I heard about this board while I was gone was why people are making excuses and what have you. Who did I hear it from? Wrestlers. Now for what it's worth they were laughing their butts off at the adults for acting like that. But you see they are around and they are paying attention everytime someone says something negative, failed or not, about them, they get it. Disagree all you want, but the fact is wrestling is for the kids, not a bunch of pot bellied men in the stands.
  14. Not that this fits the question, but a few years back Castle showed up at Team State with three sets of twins on the Roster. The Welch, Seitz, and Daughtery twins. It's in the water I guess.
  15. The guy's seeing eye dog had a seeing eye dog.
  16. I wonder what he is going to do at Semi-State. 195 is going to be NASTY!
  17. Honestly I thought he was pinned too, but it don't happen if the ref don't call it. I think we all have seen kids hurt needlessly over the years and it is never a good thing!
  18. At 120, Castle's kid is a young man who had to learn that painful lesson about Wrestling/Life Ain't Always Fair. There were a a ton of "iffy" calls all day. Out of bounds seemed to be one that varied based on how the ref's were feeling about the Economic Situation in Greece or some such thing. It was like watching a stock market ticket and expecting it if remain consistent.
  19. 195 at Semi-State should be a BRAWL!
  20. Couldn't agree more if my own mother had said it!
  21. It was pretty easy to see we had one ref in particular that had NO CLUE he was working a wrestling tourney. In his defense there WAS a swim meet happening the same day and he may have Mr MaGoo'ed himself into the wrong dressing room...
  22. We also saw 3 points near fall in the Brown Mastison match that strangle enough don't exist because the Ref didn't see it the same way, would have tied it all up in regulation, but we take what we have been dealt and make the most of it. Also DIDN'T see the reason to award a penalty point in the 126 finals for a pinning combination that is completely legal and was at worst potentially dangerous (a surfboard normally IS on the edge of getting called potentially dangerous). But once again, we moved on.
  23. From 170 to 220, There will be some big matches in the finals (if things progress as they "should"). HH and SS should take 170-220, with 182 the largest question. Lane from North is VERY impressive. He moves like a 126 pound kid!
  24. Predicitions...Only ones I make this year: Picking advancers, no particular order: 106: R, GS, MD, VL 113: H, C, R, MD - This one I will go out there on - Order will be C, MD, H, R 120: R, HH, MV, MD 126: C, BV, R, MD 132: M, Pr, C, MD 138: C, MD, Bv, Ce (Order CE, CA, BV, MD ???) 145: Pr, MD, NP, Ce - Strongest Group Coming out of Evansville) 152: ME, Ce, Ca, MD 160: MV, NP, PC, MD (Who knows between PC and R on this one) 170: HH, NP, C, MD 182: HH, MD, SS, EN (Get your tickets for this one if no other matches...the probable finals will a good one!) 195: SS, HH, EM, BV (Sectional Finals Repeat) 220: HH, N, Me, Ce 285: Ce, NP, TC, MD Injuries and attitudes are going to effect these a lot! Don't know about the Central Sectional, but Castle's sectional had about as much blood time as a Twilight Movie. Good Luck to all the kids! I wish we could find a way for all of them to represent us at Semi State!
