  1. Now I have no sound on any of the 4 individual mats
  2. 4-2 That was a helluva waxing
  3. Where do I find the quad view? Can't see an icon for it
  4. See if your smart TV has the IHSAAtv app. I believe Roku had it, I know the Amazon Fire Stick does. As others have said IHSAAtv will be your best option. Whether via their app or on a computer. All of the matches will be archived and available for later viewing on TW, so 3 yrs from now you can go back and watch Alex Cottey win his 2nd State Title, over and over.
  5. All of that is true and part of what makes up their tradition. But Mater Dei is special and has built a tradition like no other program. That tradition, local backing, passion, along with many of the great wrestlers from the past sticking around makes it unique for the size of the school. Is there another small school program in the state in any sport that has excelled similar to Mater Dei? Google lists MD's total enrollment at 498. Many of the bigger schools have more boys than that in a single grade. The only one I can think of that might compare is Evansville Memorial and Soccer. But even that, it's not the same. There may be others I don't know about, but if so, those would be special situations as well.
  6. Doesn't that pretty much apply to most if not all sports now? With more kids specializing in just one sport, I think that's become the norm. AAU in basketball, travel baseball and soccer, etc.
  7. I watched 2 of his SS matches and found it interesting that he got taken down in each match to fall behind 2-0 yet still was able to secure a 1st period fall. Check out his final match against Antone Alexander. It was pretty exciting for a 1st period fall and not one sided. He is a large, well built young man. Looking forward to seeing that Saturday morning match!
  8. Ferguson jumped out to a big lead and dominated the 1st 2 periods, leading 13-2. Ferguson ran out of gas and Reitz made a mad comeback, but it wasn't enough. Ferguson, who had been out most of the year, won 17-13 over the reigning State Champ (106). It was a helluva match and would definitely be on my list of favs. Off the top of my head, I would add.... - 2015 182 lb Semifinal match with Frosh Mason Parris losing a 11-10 decision to Undefeated Senior Chase Osborn. IMO, if that match lasted :20 more, Parris wins. - 2015 138 lb Semifinal match between Joe Lee and Brandon James - Lee winning by fall - 2017 285 lb 3rd/4th match Robert Samuels 12-11 over Rickie Clark. One of the most exciting 285 lb matches ever! - 2017 Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches with Kyle Luigs. In the QF, Luigs beat Jeremiah Reitz 6-4 SV1 and lost 6-4 in the Semi to Breyden Bailey. Both matches came down to the end had close calls that could have gone either way. - 2018 Quarterfinal at 113 - Blake Boarman wins 8-6 SV1 over Brayden Lowery. Boarman, wrestling with a bum knee hurt in the SS Final, gutted out a tough, tough match. Both would become State Champs in 2020.
  9. I'd take that bet if you're giving me the field
  10. Boxing fan? Sounds like all the belts the WBC, WBA, etc. create. Of course they do it so they can charge sanctioning fees.
  11. The biggest problem I have with Major is seeing Eli Dickens walk through him 14-4 two years ago. Brody Baumann is as good or better than Dickens 2 yrs ago and, in my opinion, as good as Eli was last year. I know it's been 2 yrs, but I've watched that match a few times and can't get it out of my head.
  12. That's exactly how I saw it, especially after seeing 7 Champs for Chesterton
  13. Not at 113 and not a returning state champ. But Macartney Parkinson drawing into Joseph Walker last year after Walker ID'd to 4th at SS would be nearly the same.
  14. Here is a list of each team with 5 or more qualifiers and the # of each placement. This simply lists the placements of the qualifiers and does not factor in rankings or potential placements at State, so its not meant to give a complete picture or prediction of who will win the team race. However #'s and high SS placements are a good start. Perry Meridian - 9 Qualifiers 2 - 1st 2 - 2nd 1 - 3rd 4 - 4th Chesterton - 8 Qualifiers 7 - 1st 1 - 3rd Crown Point - 8 Qualifiers 3 - 1st 4 - 2nd 1 - 3rd Penn - 8 Qualifiers 1 - 1st 1 - 2nd 2 - 3rd 4 - 4th Mater Dei - 7 Qualifiers 5 - 1st 2 - 2nd Cathedral - 6 Qualifiers 3 - 1st 2 - 2nd 1 - 3rd Warren Central - 6 Qualifiers 3 - 1st 2- 3rd 1 - 4th Brownsburg - 5 Qualifiers 3 - 1st 1 - 3rd 1 - 4th Franklin Community - 5 Qualifiers 2 - 3rd 3 - 4th Floyd Central - 5 Qualifiers 1 - 1st 1 - 2nd 2 - 3rd 1 - 4th East Central - 5 Qualifiers 1 - 1st 2 - 3rd 2 - 4th Glean from this what you will in regard to the team race
  15. Any match Gabe Sollars and Brody Baumann wrestled. Ashton Hayhurst and Hayden Watson did not disappoint. J Conway and Riley Rust had lots of action Boarman vs. Rhulman and Alstott (not both at the same time) Alec Freeman vs. Ben Dalton Cole Ross vs. Braiden Haines Ben Dalton vs. Lane Deckard - would love your opinion if Deckard had the takedown in SV before Dalton won it
  16. He's not that great. I'm pretty sure Mason Parris could take him.
  17. Something tells me you aren't just hopping on his bandwagon and there was no real new information gleaned today.
  18. Wrestlebacks have LONG been a discussion here, a mostly one-sided discussion. The system we have is one that has been in place for a long time. The same goes for next week at State with the loser on Friday going home and the loser Saturday morning able to wrestle back to 5th/6th only. The one thing the current system provides, love it or not, is the most exciting Quarterfinal round in wrestling. Trust me, your pain and frustration is felt.
  19. My $.02 on the Jasper/Evansville Finals... 106 - Close. These guys have wrestled a lot and know each other well. Seng 70/30 113 - Egli/Hammack - Hammack 55/45. Should be a battle. Egli won last year by fall after Hammack had a big lead 120 - Another one with guys familiar with each other... Gilbert 2-1 the last 2 years. Can Ross even it up? Gilbert 60/40 126 - Ison/Schoeff - A familiar theme here. Ison is 2-1, but Schoeff won last week. Schoeff 52/48 132 - Freeman/Montgomery - Freeman won decisively earlier this year. Freeman 65/35/ 138 - Boarman/Alstott - Boarman seems to have Alstott's #, but they're usually close. 145 - The sentiment seems to favor Reynolds, but I like Watson. Close and likely a lot of fun! 152 - Con will win!! I'm taking Conway by a hair, maybe 6-5? Seems like a 50-50 matchup to me. 160 - No disrespect to Landon Boe, but I don't think anyone is stopping Baumann right now. I'll call it 80/20 Brody. 170 - My SW IN bias has me taking Purdy. My guess is I'm in the minority. Purdy 56/44 182 - Again, bias here, but I haven't seen anyone make Sollars sweat yet. It will likely happen tonight but will it be enough? Sollars 60/40 195 - Going with the undefeated Carrington in a tight one over Dickens. 50/50 match 220 - Chalk chalk chalk with Ruhlman over Howell. 85/15 match here 285 - Ditto with the chalk. Jones wins. 90/10 Jones over Munoz
  20. Thats how they are doing it. Finals on Mat 1, 3rd/4th on Mat 2
  21. Castle's John Purdy has the look of a State Champion. He's a sophomore, so if not this year, he has 2 more. If I were a betting man, I'd put money down on a title for him, hoping he stays injury free.
