  1. Would be curious to see lists for Evansville Memorial, Reitz and Castle...
  2. Would love to see the 2003 version...
  3. The ones with no choice I didn't feel like I knew enough about both to make a choice
  4. You're replies on here are getting to the point of being sad. I can't help you if you aren't smart enough to read a post in it's entirety and understand it. I'll try to type slower and MAYBE you'll get it. What I don't get is your need to nitpick to make your self feel better in your love for Stevan when I have done nothing but praise him. But I'll give this a shot. In the history of sport, there have been upsets throughout. No one thought: Buster Douglas had a chance in hell against Mike Tyson. Villanova had a chance in hell against Georgetown (or NC State vs. Houston for that matter) Appalachain State beat Michigan The Reds sweeping the 1990 A's? Nonsense The Miracle on Ice? There are more examples than anyone could name where a team or individual seemed completely outmanned and still won. Upsets happen. With Lee's talent, if you can't see how adjustments could be made, then there is no hope for any civil discussion with you and a certain word that starts with an i and ends in diot comes to mind. Stop being that and acknowledge that your boy is excellent and people are giving him props. When he becomes Superman with no Kryptonite, I'll start to listen to your nonsense again. Feel free to get the last word in and make yourself feel smarter. I'm done typing to someone no smarter or logical than a brick wall. The floor is yours Mr. Genius
  5. I think DJ Smith is going there as well and have wondered the same. Are these two not DI caliber wrestlers? I'll admit my knowledge of college wrestling beyond what I can watch on the BTN is limited.
  6. I think you're getting into the minutia of things that aren't necessary. How many times in sports have you seen upsets when no one thought the other could win? It happens. I only mentioned venue in reference to another poster made reference to it. I think Lee admitted he was nervous under the setting. So if they wrestled 10x, could I see Lee winning 1 or 2? Sure because great athletes make adjustments and not all matches are the same. Could I see Micic winning all 10? Sure. He was dominant Saturday. What I saw Saturday was two great wrestlers where one was clearly better on that day. I'm not saying Lee is better, but to ignore there is even a possibility of a different result at a different time (same venue or different) is sticking your head in the sand because things change in sports all the time. It happens. That doesn't take away from Micic's HS career or his dominance Saturday so I'm not sure why you feel the need to defend any other ideal than total superiority. Why not just see that people on here recognize him as a great wrestler and his storied career and leave it at that?

I believe the Ervins are cousins with former Memorial wrestler Logan Wedding.
  8. The thing I enjoy about these discussions is we are nitpicking about those at the very top of their craft, at least in Indiana. I don't think anyone is disrespecting Chad Red Jr. at all. He could lose to Lee (or beat him) and he is still a GREAT wrestler. Lee still has 3 years to prove what he has done can be translated to the high school championship level. I see no reason it can't/won't be. As far as Lee vs. Micic, there is no doubt that Stevan was superior this past weekend. Would the result be different in a rematch in this or another setting? Hard to say. Micic took away Lee's best weapon and kept him from getting to his legs, then countered and got take downs. Very smart, strategic wrestling. Would Lee adjust if they wrestled again? I'm sure he would, but we'd be stupid to think that Stevan wouldn't adjust also. Would freshman Micic beat freshman Lee? Hard to say. The bottom line is they are both unbelievable wrestlers and the years in age difference makes it next to impossible to truly make legit comparisons. That said, while doing so from afar, I really enjoyed watching Micic the last 3 years (thank you internet!) and look forward to doing so the next 4 years at Northwestern. I also can't wait to see Lee for the next 3 years, and his younger brothers to boot. The Lee vs. Red debate can be very easily answered if they face each other at the Mater Dei Holiday Classic next December. Even if they aren't wrestling in the same class by state tournament time, I see no reason why they can't make it work in December.

Going back to Ervin... he pinned Skyler Lykins in :40 at the MD Classic this year and finished 2nd in the Walsh Ironman to a guy named Zahid Valencia (5-3) who I hear is pretty good. He majored Tyler Fleener in National Duals last April.

Carr beat Blackwell this weekend for the KY state title @ 126. He finished 3rd in Liberty Nationals America Crown 14 & under division last February. Several other tourneys in his track wrestling profile. Looks like quite the stud. Wrestles for Woodford Co. so appears he is Boston's practice partner. And yes Blackwell is a stud.
  11. The Mater Dei Classic has become if not the toughest tournament, definitely in the conversation. Just a quick note... Higgins of Belleville West won the Classic at 160 beating KY State Champ Dominic Lampe. He finished 2nd in the Illinois class 3A tournament at 152. Top Teams in the MD Classic: Mater Dei Franklin Community Union Co - KY State Team Champs - Qualified all 14 wrestlers for state; 9 place winners, 2 Champs New Palestine Avon Belleville West - IL - Two 3A state place winners Evansville Memorial Louisville St. Xavier - KY 4th place team - Qualified all 14 wrestlers for state; 6 place winners; 2 Champs Mt. Vernon Louisville Trinity - KY 3rd place team - Qualified 10; 6 place winners; 1 Champ
  12. Is there a 3rd? Track Wrestling shows a Matt Lee w/ Mater Dei wrestling club that finished first in freestyle state (Novice 80) and 2nd in Greco state (Novice 80) last March. Joe Lee is the next Lee up. Strangely enough, it shows he finished 2nd last November in the Oklahoma Suplay Open at 125. The first place finisher was Nick Lee. Showed a FF so I'm guessing they chose not to have the brothers wrestle each other for the title?
  13. I think this is an interesting time. Lee is very good. Time will tell how good. Micic is that special. And interesting to think what is Lee were wrestling 120? Would the result still have been the same with Red? Red has the makings of a 4-time champ. Does Lee beat Ayersman his senior year? Jared McKinley? Crume last year? Reece Humphrey as a junior? Escobedo as a soph? Tsirtsis as a frosh? There have been a lot of great wrestlers at that weight in the past 10 years or so. Nick Lee's story is still to be told. But his successful freshman year (note Micic finished 3rd as a frosh) has given him a chance to be in the discussion with some of these other multiple champs. But being in the discussion as far as potential does not translate to results. Looking forward to the next 3 years to see how the story ends!
  14. Speaking of Lee.... How many Lee kids are there? Is Nick the oldest? What about Egli's? Thought I saw 3 on track wrestling. I wish the TW profiles gave the wrestlers age or class.
  15. That could happen in the next year or two. Would love to see them wrestle the same weight class next year in the Mater Dei Classic if New Pal comes again.
  16. What weight was he? Obviously things can change over time, but I went back even father and saw a win over Skyler Lykins and a couple of close matches against Blake Rypel. Thing I thought was funny is he face Rypel 4 years ago in a tournament at 98 pounds! It's pretty impressive to have a guy on the bench that beat the state runner up (Glogouski) just last March!
  17. What can you tell me about Noah Schweizer? As I was looking at different wrestlers profiles on Track Wrestling and some of their non-HS wins, I came across his name. He's wrestled and beaten many of the names I have seen in the tournament this year and even last year. Some names I saw were: Preston Mantel -win - 6th in state last year; ranked #14 this year but lost in ticket round at semi-state to Jacob Cottey Forrest Glogouski - win -120 runner up this year Tommy Cash - loss - Ben Harvey - loss Trent Pruitt - win - 138 SQ Sam Lovejoy - win - 6th at 132 Is he still at MD? Not make varsity? How old is he? Thanks!
  18. I got it. Had to change TVs!
  19. Am i the only one with video and no freaking sound???
  20. He won it w/ 4 pins and a tech fall
  21. What's the story with McCormick injury defaulting to Micic and now wrestling in the consolations?
  22. Chambers - Morales final score? Chambers win?
  23. Video issues seem to be corrected. Track wrestling seems to have lost Mat 4. I'm only showing 3 mats. Even closed browser and reloaded just in case it was a refresh issue.
  24. Track wrestling keeps missing results in its feed. Anyone have the result for Abram - Lawrence at 138? A score for Early over Johnson? The video feeds are struggling. No feed on mat 1 and sound is messed up on mat 3. Frustrating for those of us trying to follow from out of state.
