  1. CP 39 BB 24 Red Dogs are on another level than the Purple Dogs.
  2. This was a great team that we lost to in the Team State finals (126 & 182 were the difference). With that being said, you still would have had a hard time competing with the top 3A (4A now) teams, IMO. The difference between 1A and 4A is immense…even for the greatest 1A team in this era.
  3. As many of us know, the 50th anniversary of Title IX is this year. Although there is much to celebrate about this historic legislation, we as wrestling fans know Title IX had some unintended consequences on our sport. I would love to hear some input from the wrestling community with the regard to how impactful Title IX was on eliminating programs at the collegiate level. I've heard varying degrees with regard to how many programs were cut due to Title IX. Others say that AD's used Title IX to cut programs that did not generate any revenue for the university. I look forward to hearing your input.
  4. I know Lee skipped out on his senior year but that doesn’t change the fact his HS success was not as impressive as some of the others we mentioned. The 5x AA argument is ridiculous, IMO. I don’t care who declares them AA’s, they didn’t wrestle to get to the podium so it can’t be taken seriously. If those count, who was the national champion in each weight? The #1 seed, I presume? Why are we not declaring them national champions then? This is why I can’t take this accolade seriously… I’m excited to see what Allred, Mendez, Seltzer, etc. can do the next few years. Hopefully we have to reignite this debate after their careers are finished.
  5. You’re focusing a lot on college accolades which I prefaced my post by saying it depends on what metrics you are using when trying to determine the GOAT. You’re placing a premium on NCAA titles which I agree with but you’re ignoring the lack of HS success which, IMO, has to be considered. Also, there is no such thing as a 5x AA…he didn’t place in the top 8 in 2020 (no one did) so that’s a moot point. I would agree that Howe is the front runner right now if you look objectively at HS and College success.
  6. Depends on the criteria you are using. If we go by HS and College accolades only, he’s in the conversation for sure. What hurts him is only winning one state title. I know he lost to Micic and Red but the fact remains he’s going up against guys like Angel, Jason, and Andrew Howe, just to name a few, who were all national champions, 3-4x AA, and 3-4x state champs.
  7. Regardless he has little to no accolades after leaving EMD which is why he’s not in the conversation of GOAT. I do agree though that it’s important to provide a matrix in terms of what time period we are using when discussing this topic. If you just go by the four years each was in HS, Mauer is in the conversation for sure. If you’re looking at HS, College, International…he falls way down on the list.
  8. Mauer accomplished very little after HS which is why he is nowhere near the others mentioned.
  9. Most people are a proponent for wrestle backs at semi state more so than state, leaving your example null and void. The argument, at its core, is that there are few weight classes that have the best 16 wrestlers due to the lack of WB’s at semi state.
  10. Looks like FW has two in the finals and three more going for 3rd. 23 going for 5th-8th.
  11. Does anyone know where I can find a list of RTC’s and Open Mats with days and times? There always was a thread with this info, hoping it still exists. Thanks.
  12. Turkey Run’s entire enrollment was approximately 150.
  13. 11/28/2023 06:30 PM
  14. Shameful to see so many empty seats on Friday night. This is what happens when we let bureaucracy run the show. I’m guessing Y2 and his minions could have figured out social distant seating and got 5,000 more fans in there tonight. Hell, IndianaMat figured out every school’s state qualifier, placer, and coach’s blood type...God knows they could have figured this out. P.S. I’m grateful we have a state finals to attend but hells bells, where’s the common sense shaved ice when you need it???
  15. What’s the max number of tickets you can purchase without a code?
  16. Rene Hernandez Robert Maldonado Dan Jankowski Craig Macke Jonathan Brownlee Alex Dolly
  17. What was considered, “illegal,” when Hayhurst hit is chin whip?
  18. I don’t know how much the fine was but I do know the school meant to put a forfeit in that weight class.
  19. This past week, a school in our sectional entered a, “forfeit,” in one of the weight classes at the seed meeting. Mid week they were allowed to replace that forfeit with a wrestler after paying a fine to the IHSAA. Curious to see if this common among other sectionals? I had no idea that was an option until it happened last week.
