  1. It wasn’t that many years ago (or maybe longer than I remember?) when there was a long thread on here debating if boys and girls should be wrestling each other. As I recall, there were about equal number of commenters on each side of the debate at the time. As I seem to remember, there was a priest(?) from one of the Catholic schools who got on here and participated in the debate. If I recall correctly, it was someone associated with EMD. I believe he was against males and females wrestling each other. I don’t think he was against boys and girls competing against each other in general. And I don’t think it had anything to do with a boy physically harming a girl. I think it had to do with the amount and kind of touching that can occur in a wrestling match. I don’t know if that person was expressing a personal feeling or what he considered Catholic policy.
  2. Not sure. I’m thinking like 20 or 30 years ago if I recall correctly. But at my age, I suffer from time-compression so that my estimating years is not as easy as it once was. I believe the state cracked down on how much school kid’s could miss for athletic endeavors. They thought kids should spend more time in the classroom. I think that might have been also when they started building snow days into school calendars. When I was a kid (a very long time ago), we didn’t make up snow days. Of course, back then, they didn’t call school off as readily either.
  3. I believe it is the State Legislature that might not condone missing a whole day of school for wrestling.
  4. That means Frankfort’s increase in distance is 52%, Lawrence Central’s increase in distance is 138%, and Shelbyville’s increase in distance is 107%. And those are probably just averages since they are based on regional sites. For some specific schools, the deltas are probably bigger. I think having to drive 2 or 3 times as far would be considered a big drawback for some people. There is a reason for calling them “regionals”. The IHSAA tries to keep teams in their own region to reduce travel. That advantage might be more important in years when we have more severe winter than we’ve had this year ... so far. You might note that there are topics on here where teams complain because they now have to drive further for sectionals than they used to. I would assume all those schools would be up in arms over your proposal.
  5. Well, you know what happens when you assume.
  6. Assuming “Jenn” is a girl’s name, it looks like 2 girls may have advanced out of the Jennings County sectional.
  7. No, I was actually thinking of McCarthy of Mt. Vernon (Fortville) in his junior year.
  8. Fewest wins and worst record are two different things. I remember someone around 2000 went into sectionals with 1-0 record (I.e., varsity record) and was a state qualifier. And of course we know about Nick Lee’s 3-0 record. It would be interested to know who had most losses and worst percentage though.
  9. La la la la la la la la (Picture my fingers stuck in my ears.)
  10. Yes, if your 4th seed is 29-1, that’s pretty solid.
  11. Sorry, but I have to ask. Is that a typo perhaps?
  12. How long has it been since he was in Elkhart?
  13. I was only trying to point out subtly that the troll who started this thread wasn’t likely an adult. And Carroll, like all the other “4A schools”, are neither small nor medium anymore than Godzilla is a small or medium lizard. Obviously, you created this thread and have continued commenting on this thread because you are just trying to get a reaction out of people. I think that is the very definition of a troll. I don’t know why you chose to pick on the SAC in particular. I have actually enjoyed some of your banter, but for the most part you’ve been a bit annoying. But that’s okay as I am used to it because I have a grandson who enjoys poking at people to get reactions from them. Good night, young man.
  14. I haven’t actually had the opportunity to watch Levitz wrestle this year, but by just comparing the notable results listed on the rankings page, it would seem that he would have as much chance as anybody at winning 160.
  15. Indeed East Central has a strong team. Dual team rankings haven’t been updated since early January, and I don’t know if there is a plan to update them. But with EC’s recent wins, I think they would very likely be included now if the dual rankings were to be updated.
  16. Just curious where you think he should be ranked and why. Who has he notably beaten and lost to? This isn’t a smart aleck question. I’m honestly curious.
  17. Oh, I figured that was so. I was trying to be funny ... and to perhaps hint at a possible maturity level.
  18. Can we assume Joe Namath is one of student managers at Carroll High School?
  19. Does anyone have the results from HHC tournament?
  20. Coach, I think I saw you at an alumni event a couple years ago and I believe you were wearing togs from 1966. Very impressive.
  21. Yes, he’s been a fixture for many years. He wears his colors proud.
  22. I finally made it up to 119 pound class during my senior season in 1975. Currently, I’d wrestle 195. (To my credit I did grow a few inches taller after high school ... but I’m still way too heavy. )
