  1. I thought Franklin Central's compression shirt/fight short combo looked good and functional and fit was good.

Is the new uniform better suited for a week night dual and the singlet better for a Saturday tournament/super dual?

I would say the last time we had 5 DI All-Americans was....never. Indiana has had multiple All-Americans in one year only 13 times and twice had four(2010 and 1986). We have had 3 All-Americans five times(2014, 2009, 2007, 2006, and 1985).

    Great info. Wow.

I was talking more in college right now.  If your trying to make the best team for the NCAAs, who would they be?

    How would the team place?

Not very high. Indiana only had 6 NCAA qualifiers last year (if you count Bobby Stevenson) and only one of those was an AA (Micic).

    RFr. Stevan Micic (Michigan)
    Fr. Brock Hudkins (Northern Illinois)
    Sr. Alex Griffin (Purdue)
    Fr. Drew Hughes (Michigan State)
    RFr. Bobby Steveson (Minnesota)
    Jr. Mitch Sliga (Northwestern)

Off the top of my head:

    125-Welch

    133-Micic

    141-Lee/Red

    149-Tsirtsis

    157-Davis

    165-Hughes

    174-Lydy

    184-Sliga

    197-?

    285-Streck

Could see 5-6 AA's this year from that group.

I don't agree with your analysis that "Red has to also be thinking he has improved more than Lee since then because he has had more College Practices and matches" -- Lee has been in the Penn State room drilling with extremely talented wrestlers.  Advantage Lee.

I would guess being in that PSU room with those studs every day does a lot for confidence. Those guys wrestle with so much "swagger" -- it seems infectious.

Also, was Lee at full strength that year he wrestled Red in the finals? Didn't he miss most of that season?

  5. There are going to be some really fun matches at state. Friday night and first session Saturday morning are going to unbelievable in a few of these weight classes.

120 might be one of the most wide open. No clear cut favorite right now?

I was talking 2010-2011 at 112lbs. They all sort of mix together because they all wrestle around the same weight in those two years. My bad

No worries. Just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same thing. Lots of loaded weight classes in that time period.

Those guys were 119 and 125 that year. I would say 112 in 2010-2011 was by far one of the most impressive weight classes. I'm not even sure if all of this is right, but the weight class looked like this:

What year? I was talking about 2009-2010. 112lb weight class. Those were the guys at state.

Think of it this way; a kid who has Michael Jordan as their coach will have no need to go to anyone else for coaching, since you have the BEST at hand. BUT those who don't have Michael Jordan as their coach have to go elsewhere to get better.

Are we sure Michael Jordan would've been a good coach? I'm probably taking this out of context, but just because you were a great wrestler doesn't mean you will automatically be a good coach. Just because you weren't a top-level wrestler, doesn't mean you won't be a top-level coach.

It is 2017. We need more than final score. Post results people-come on

As a member of the IHSWCA Team State Seeding Committee-those 36 teams need to be posting full results-what we have seen so far just isn't acceptable!

A quick reminder on who the 36 teams are for team state?

  11. So you guys would be okay telling a kid, if you have serious aspirations of playing college football, you shouldn't wrestle because you might get hurt after your season is over? Or if you are serious about playing college baseball, you shouldn't wrestle because you will come in to the season beat up.

I'm just not a huge fan of telling kids to quit other sports and focus on one sport. I love what a kid like Mason Parris is doing.  One of the top football players in Indiana and a Division 1 wrestling recruit. I loved watching a kid like Gelen Robinson dominate in so many sports. Maybe these guys are the exception.

I've never met him and I don't want to speak for him, but I'm guessing Mason wouldn't give back these past couple of football seasons (state runner up last year, 11-1 this year) with his brothers to go to more national tournaments and maybe be a little fresher once wrestling starts.

Since our school is football focused, they sometimes have our guys doing max outs day before or day of meets. Not a fan of that but some lifting is fine. Some select lifts and proper reps could help loosen up some muscles before matches though.

Pretty sure Whiteland has sport specific APC classes so they receive modified routines?  Doesn't football have it's own class?
