maligned
Agonizingly, Matt Lee and DJ both tech their finals opponents in match 1, only to drop the next two matches and lose out on the U23 Worlds spot. The US has typically not attracted its best talent for u23 qualification, but the rest of the world sends its best available u23 freestylers. It would have been an incredible experience for those guys.

Would the reason be because US guys at this age are trying to qualify for the Senior team and this prohibits them from attempting to qualify for the U23 team? Or are they simply choosing not to participate in the U23 qualification process?

Those reasons, it's never gotten notoriety here for some reason to cause it to be a priority, and u23 worlds are badly timed for college guys in the late fall (last weekend of October this time)
