Because the season has officially started they won't be able to, without a waiver from the ihsaa. I think this topic came up last year as well.

The question about this Border Wars tournament and eligibility tends to come up on a regular basis.  Indiana wrestlers have participated in this event many years since Indiana high school eligibility is based on the starting Contest Date for each sport.  You can check directly with the IHSAA if you need to, but this has been the standard answer per the IHSAA By-Laws for several years now.

 

A high school wrestler is not allowed to participate in a non-IHSAA contest after the Contest Date has started.  According to the IHSAA calander the first Contest Date a wrestling team is able to participate in for the 2014-15 years is Nov. 17th (I think Y2 mistyped Nov. 15th).  So as long as a pre-season event occurs before the schools first Contest Date their should be no eligibility conflict with the IHSAA.
