Huskie70 Posted November 22, 2011 Share Posted November 22, 2011 As a fan of high school wrestling, I have really enjoyed the state of Indiana having an individual and team tournament. It was the best of both worlds. It allowed the individual with outstanding talent to achieve a goal that borders on impossible. Winning an individual state title is just so hard to do, and to actually do it ... well, it's just priceless. On the other hand, the team tournament allowed teams with possibly less individual talent to also have a goal, that of winning a team title. A great number of wrestlers know that they don't possess the skills or talent to win at the individual level, but they have enough talent to be of benefit to the team. Therefore, they come out for the team, and work their tails off. I wonder how this move might affect those 'middle of the road' wrestlers. Will they still come out for wrestling, knowing that they will never have a chance at an individual medal? Time will tell. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
