Shelbyville Team Regional

East Central earned their spot by winning their 10 team sectional tournament.  The team has been really hit hard with sickness.  Varsity 103, 215, & 285 all have been sick this week.  Tonight 7 were Varsity with 3 JV.  2 of the 3 wins for EC on the night were from JV wrestlers.  The question is do we put the wrestlers that have a great chance this weekend at Semi-State out there for a tiny chance to win at team regionals?  Not to mention, how well did CE do against Roncalli in the next round?  CE scored one more team point against Roncalli after easily beating NC.  Obviously you have not seen EC wrestle before as far as having fun?  The remainder of the team came to support the team.  What kills team state is the structure of the tournament, weather delays, and the simple fact that most teams that qualify need to choose to save their wrestlers for the individual tournament.

Embarrassing !  There was more coaches and players from perry meridian to watch the match then ec had fans there.  next time just call it in before and not waste everyones time watching the forfeits and the JV matches. It looked like the EC team was having lots of fun!

Yeah, everyone knows a 140 lber from Indy weighs alot more than one from outside the metro area

No one mentioned anything aboout weight! I said if they wanted to draw more people to watch they needed to ensure that half the field didn't come from 5-6 miles apart like Roncalli and Perry.  The IHSAA has it set this way just like 2Indy teams playing for a state championship in football. Both are great teams, I am not arguing that but the bottom line is money and attendance brings in the money.

I understand about kids being sick and trying to get them healthy for Saturda.  But, what about the guys that were not sick?  I was looking forward to seeing some of the match-up that had ssq from both teams (like 152 and 171).

Didn't NC do the same thing against CE that EC did to Roncalli?  "Saving" wrestlers for Saturday.  I know wrestling is an individual sport, but it is also a "team" sport,  what kind of message are the coaches sending to the rest of the "team"?    If neither NC or EC didn't want to be there, maybe they should have forfeited their Sectional championship to the 2nd place teams and maybe they would have come out to  wrestle.

Just another thing that could kill "team state".

Rose has been wrestling. With a fracture d jaw...and others were sick so don't run your mouth about things you have no insight on...who are you to question one of if not greatest. Coaches in Indiana history...he knows. What to do with his team..a man who has 2 runner up teams and 5 appearances at team state. Isn't hurting the whole team state dillema...what have you done for the sport besides post ignorant comments..
