nosoccermomhere Posted January 6, 2010 Share Posted January 6, 2010 The Elementary National Team Qualifier will be at Ben Davis High School again this year. It will be next weekend, Sunday Jan. 17th. I have had a few questions asked to me and wanted to put the answers out there, in case others were wondering the same things. This tournament will not be broken into Pee-Wee, Bantam, Intermediate, Novice. It will be by weight only, with the weight classes being as follows...... 40#, 45#, 50#, 55#, 60#, 65#, 70#, 75#, 80#, 85#, 90#, 95#, 100#, 108#, 116#, 125#, 135#, 148#, HWT. There is no weight allowance at the qualifier but their is a .9 allowance at the National Duals Tournament in April and they will be expected to make the weight they qualified for. This tournament will be bracketed out with wrestle backs for a true second. The top 2 placers will receive tournament t-shirts and earn their spots onto the Indiana Elementary National Team. These two teams will be representing Indiana in the Elementary National Duals in Kingsport Tennessee on April 16th - 18th 2010. This tournament serves as a fundraiser for the team to help lower the costs of the trip. So, even if you aren't interested in going to Tennessee in April, come and compete and support the tournament and your Indiana Team. All wrestlers must meet both the age and grade requirements for this tournament to be able to compete. You have to be in 5th grade or lower and born in 1998 or later ( Again you must meet BOTH requirements). Clubs please keep in mind that their is also a beginners tournament in the building at the same time. So, if you have wrestlers wanting to compete in the qualifier and 1st or 2nd year wrestlers, their will be competition for both skill levels there. So, bring the whole club. I am fielding calls from all over the state, including Evansville and "the region". It looks to be a great day of wrestling with some tough competition ahead. Please note ( in above post) the difference in the weight classes ( compared to our normal, in state, weight classes). Look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday.
