If anyone has any tips, suggestions or words of wisdom I'd love to hear from you! I would suggest selecting a hotel room on 21st street. They are close to the school. Also, since there is no food in the fieldhouse at Warren, bring a coolewr, they have tables set up in the school lunchroom for this. Each team usually gets 2-3 for the teams food and drinks. Also, we try to keep to a minimum the amount of "colored drinks" brought into the fieldhouse, so pack lots of water. There is plenty of parking around the school, so that will not be a problem. Also, there are quite a few selections within a 5-10 minute drive for your dinners. As far as the wrestling is concerned, plan on seeing some outstanding wrestlers from all over the country. The kids might be a stud here in Indiana, but they will get thier eyes opened by some of the kids they see. Make sure you let them know that no matter how they fare, making the team is a great accomplishment, and if they end up with a winning record that is a very good thing. Glad you told us about the food! I will definately share this info with the families who do not visit this site. I've already been stressing what a great accomplishment this is just making the team, with this being their first time. We are very much looking forward to this experience the wrestling as well as the camp, and I am extremely excited to see the tournament. Does anyone know if they publish the results on Track Wrestling? I know our coaches would like to follow our boys' progress throughout the meet. Also was wondering what the opportunities for taping and or photographing your child's matches are from the stands. Thanks again, and congrats to all the wrestlers! NAcoach Posted June 22, 2009 Share Posted June 22, 2009 I would like to thank coach livingston and the rest of the coaching staff for giving their week up to be with these boys. I know my group of kids that were on the teams came back with multiple new set ups for turns and takedowns. Most importantly they came back with mat experience against some of the top schoolboy wrestlers in the nation. Even though their records might not look like it, they came out of the tournament with a positive attitude. I believe 3 freestyle duals may have been decided by one match. The gold team could have easily finished Saturday afternoon 4-1. I think we were truely one of the top eight teams there, but because of our draw we didn't finish as high as we should have. Same thing with greco gold team. I do have a question. Who has to report to the mat first in a freestyle team dual? Kansas bumped a kid around Sliga so they would only give up one loss instead of two. This ultimately may have given them the dual. All year long my kids have battled against LeCount, Moss, Bradley, Mammolenti, Smiley, Kriech and Kenny. It was nice to finally cheer for them and set in the stands with their parents. I talked to many of these young athletes and they were so polite. I have to give a shout out to Charlie Baker of Red Cobra. This kid was a riot! My wife is so glad that I my son and I can say wrestling is finaly over this year. Except for the camp that he leaves for next week. Too bad Football starts two weeks after that.
