  1. looks like its going to be coming down to 171
  2. you're allowed to bump up two weight classes from what I remember from wrestling in high school.
  3. I remember my first time attending a freestyle state in 5th grade. The place was packed with people. When I was a senior in high school and wrestled it, the numbers definitely diminished. I love freestyle, so I hope the numbers increase again some day.
  4. I think Crown Point will be a force again with a great chance to win state. They have 3 state medalists returning in Roach, Tsirtsis, and Halsted(who was out due to surgery this past year). To add to the mix they have a state qualifier returning in Flamme. CP is definitely the region favorite for next year with 11 of 14 starters returning not too mention halsted who was out last year.
  5. Y2 and Mr. Hungus, If you calculated the number of mulit sport athletes at a small school and did one at a big school, the bigger school would have more mutisport athletes. This argument might have been valid ten years ago, but mostly everyone nowadays plays another sport.
  6. hmm from what I see Crown Point was out 3 starters for this dual. hannon 215 hawkins 119 and cope 160. Anyways Congrats Caveman and go take home that gold! Good year CP!
  7. Most wrestlers play several sports while in high school. I know over half of my wrestling team at Crown Point were multi-sport athletes. Most of us did football and wrestling. but then there were the few that played football, wrestled, ran track or played baseball. I feel the argument about smaller schools having more multi sport athletes is false nowadays.
  8. I think this ones going to be close especially if Mishawaka has three starters out. If some of the CP kids don't give up too many bonus points this one can go to the wire. Good Luck to all wrestlers competing this weekend especially the Crown Point seniors. Hawk, Renn, Schurg, and Hannon give them Hell!!!!
  9. Do legal supplementation. Our weightlifting coach stresses the use of supplements in the off season. For example, I take creatine monohydrate and the collegiate form of muscle milk yum yum.. Lifting 4-5 days a week in the off season is huge..
  10. I'm just happy whoop my dad for the 2nd year in a row hahahaha
  11. I'm a former Crown Point wrestler and I didn't shake hands then and I still don't in college/ my team doesn't. Coach Vlink is just practicing one of the things he did in college as a wrestler and is helping his wrestlers get ready for the next level. Shaking hands after a match is a false sense of sportsmanship. If you want to be a sportsman, then wait until you see the coach after the match/meet like when you seem him in the hallway to shake his hand. Now that would be true sportsmanship. Coach Vlink taught us to have the up most respect for our opponents and our opposing coaches. Not shaking hands eliminates disrespecting other coaches. 90% of the time wrestlers, especially wrestlers that lose, are really emotional during big matches and this is because wrestling is a sport of one on one competition. Thus, your emotions can take control of you and make you "disrespect" a coach. That's why not shaking hands with the opposing coach right after the match has concluded is a great idea, because no disrespect can occur. Keep up the hard work bulldogs and get em next week at center grove!!!!!!!
  12. The Crown Point singlet is my favorite!!! It just looks really sharp..
  13. you can definitely bring a video camera, but only to tape your son. my mama taped me when I was there a few years ago.
  14. Good Luck to everyone especially my boys from Crown Point and all you seniors out there. Just leave it all out there on the mat, and you will have no regrets! Go Dogs! Andrew Szymborski
  15. Merrillville semi-state 103 Petrov (1) 112 Rodriguez (4) 119 Hawkins (2) 125 Shurg (3) 130 Tsirtsis (1) 135 Shurg (2) 140 Flamme (2) 145 Roach (1) 152 Yoder (2) 160 McMurray (1) 171 Morin (2) 189 Kral (2) 215 Hannon (2) hwt Travis (1)
  16. My favorite part was hiding my mini cooler in the locker room without getting caught :-)
  17. The state draw is definitely horrible. I know other elite wrestling state such as New Jersey seed their team state tourney. I think this would be a better way to distribute the best teams through the whole bracket. This years bracket is loaded on one side with Perry, Cathedral, Mish, and CP. Yorktown may be a tough team, but it seems that their way to the finals is paved for them cause of the draw.
  18. Torres inj. def. to roach last time these two teams met.
  19. Way to get it done guys!! Good luck this weekend!!!
  20. Good job dogs. They looked pretty dominant against a good merrillville squad. I don't know why Maldonado made some of the bumps that he did but it sure ended up worse than last time. Go get what's yours guys! Go Bulldogs! Andrew Szymborski
  21. probably not cause the ihsaa won't let them take video of the matches
  22. This is so funny, because every year there's a thread on why Crown Point doesn't post their brackets. I can't tell you why they're not sorry guys, and I went there.
