  1. Please hear...I understand it is what we have to work with. The thing I am saying is it stinks for this years kids to not have a way of affecting this years achievements. That is all I am saying. No I don't have the answers for how to fix it. I know that makes me a horrible person because I express my feelings about this and not have a magic answer. Yet I thought that is what a message board is about. Also I know that Bellmont would not have been at State this year under the old system. They would have met up with the undisputed 2a champs of Yorktown. It is not about the fact that "my team" whoever it might be didn't get there. It is about this years team being unable to affect this years outcome. That is what I am saying.
  2. I see someone else would say Cass for 1a and Bellmont for 2a.
  3. Cheers! That movie goes back a little while.
  4. I know it is the best system we have, but the best teams did not make the tournament. I do believe the best teams were probably in the finals at each class. But the best dual meet teams of 2014 were not in the tournament. At least the old system that years team had a chance to make the tourney.
  5. Don't know where you were but around here was some of the best dual meets I have ever seen. And the best dual meet teams made it to the finals.
  6. While it was based on the sectional "tournament". Your whole team was represented at sectional. You then switch to regional, semi, and state finishes. Personally I was okay with IHSAA's model as the entire team had opportunity to score points for your team to move forward. At sectional your weaker wrestlers helped by not getting pinned or giving up a major. So the entire team helped with your scoring or trying to keep another teams bonus points from going up. A flaw yes but not as flawed as we have now.
  7. Better yet NJ. Y2 states they don't need to because most schools are the same size. But I thought the argument was more champions mean more exposure and more interest in the sport. So why is wrestling in NJ not suffering? With that being Saudi have to honestly say I am not sure what is best for wrestling in Indiana. I know what I love, but would give up my desires for the best of the sport and the kids. I just think arguments on both sides are speculation
  8. Do you think we could ban the argument of "participation ribbon" argument from those against class wrestling. And also ban "Let's just have one weight class" argument from those for class wrestling. What are some of the other tired arguments from both sides?
  9. Like I said in another post...I think Red does not get the respect he deserves on the board, but to try and put him with Micic. That is not even close. As Beachbum said in another thread there are different tiers and Micic was alone this year in Indiana wrestling.
  10. Come on Y2 you know what he meant by that and he addressed it earlier in the post "My kids that want to become better wrestlers and challenge for state do so. They work in the off season and go to camps. They are usually pretty successful by the end of their careers. The kids that would be helped by class wrestling are the ones who are on the team, but don't put in the extra time to get better" You can't tell me you disagree with this part of his statement. It is not to say the other kids don't work hard but they might be going to football or baseball things in the offseason.
  11. I was just going over some enrollment numbers and I saw some 1 a schools who had more state streeters than schools over 1,000 in enrollment. That can't be possible can it?
  12. Cheers...forgot about the finals with Forrest.
  13. I don't know Red. Yet he pinned his way through the field this weekend (Dominating performance). Someone said that over 80 of his 90 wins have been by pin. Can someone confirm this or is it just talk?
  14. Not saying Red would win, but it seems that Red is the most underrated 2 x state champ I can remember. Undefeated two years in a row and people treat him like a "white" headed stepchild. Like I said not saying Red would beat Lee, but Red has not been given any respect for what he has accomplished. Lee doesn't touch Micic for a few more years.
  15. It looks like mc is hurt. Karl will stop this thread ;D
  16. Because the sanctioning body says so >
  17. And they walked all the way from Evansville singing the MD fight song barefooted : : :
  18. I am confused. Is the point of classed wrestling to get more exposure for more wrestlers? If so then not having classes would hurt NJ correct? Or is the purpose of it so schools can hang a banner? The argument you have always presented was the first. If that is the case then not having classes should hurt NJ.
  19. NJ is not a classed wrestling state. It doesn't seem to have hurt wrestling in that state.
  20. As I read these names I can just remember hearing the announcer saying them with the specific emphasis. What a fun trip down memory lane!
  21. So what accusations are being made? That a family moved their son for what they felt was in the best interest of their child? If so I don't have too much of a problem with this. If the accusation is that PM, or cathedral, or (insert name here). Is going to middle school state, to freestyle tournaments, to where ever else they think they can find the next t-shirts and try and convince the family that their program is the best for little Timmy. That is what I would have an issue with. Family choice fine! High school programs recruiting....not cool. By the way it does sound like Cathedral has the best shot.
