  1. Good point Duck, success in high schools should mean that a school does not have to forfeit a weight class, that the starters have decent mat room partners, that there might be enough school interest that most weights are contended for each year. I just think there is alot more to it than just the standard response of work harder, or you don't put in enough time. There are many definitions of success. I think ACAC teams are successful. As are smaller schools like Southridge, Princeton,Northview, Brown County to name a few. So getting the youth started early in an area, seems to be the common denominator for student interest in high school.
  2. We don't have any In the state of INDIANA, our rankings guy makes sure of this.
  3. I think this is a great thread, and provides some of us with an otherwise unknown insight to what it might take to have successful H.S. program. The idea that this thread brings the kids down is so much "bull". The students that put on the singlet could care less what anyone thinks about the status of a program. But I really think it dings the coaches pretty good. Help cant be given unless situations are identified and discussed. I'm sure every coach , administrator parent and fan would appreciate any help to improve talent or student participation. And we already have pointed to some short Cummings in the FT. Wayne area of the state. But to take it a step further what can be done and how can we implement help. Duck -And-Run good topic.
  4. I didn't see where Chad Welch wrestled Jason Tonte. Did I miss this in all these pages?
  5. I may be off here but I think Evansville and Castle at Jasper. Then Perry and Portage I believe at North Mont., all fairly close matches.
  6. IU rolls West Virginia, Losses at 133,141, and 184, Powless wins a tight one, the rest of the boys dominate. Capped off with Paul Young pin over Donnie Jones.
  7. I would like to congratulate Minnick for running a top notch tourney again. My new years wish is to have all the multi team regular season events run in the North Montgomery way. #1 have all the teams line ups and weights in an orderly fashion and on paper. #2 list each teams opponent and what order they will meet each other, and on what mat. This was all on one sheet of paper. Bloomington North Bo Henry, Bloomington South, Jasper, and many others need to realize that if you are a fan with no ties to these schools its hard to know schools and wrestlers without this info. Again, today's event was filled with schools that you will see at the end of the season for team honors.
  8. About Matt C. , Only he knows whats going on. I hope it is just the fact that he is really cutting. And that maybe by the end of the season his metabolism will let him get back to the AA wrestler we know he can be.
  9. Is the start time the same tomorrow? I missed today's session, Had a lot more fun than you! Tooth extraction at the oral surgeon ;D. No kidding.
  10. The Hoosiers came through BIG today at the Scuffle. Angel AND,this is getting to be a habit, Nat Everhart 1st place. Kirt Kinzer, by a whisker, takes 2ND. 4Th tie breaker. The other two middle weights, Perry and Young, take home some brass with great 4th place finishes. Two other upper weights brought home respectable 7th place finishes, Cameron and Powless. These last two guys bring a breath of fresh air to the IU upper weights, that has been lacking and in dispare the last few seasons.
  11. Good day for Indiana U wrestlers. Everyone alive except 33,41,and 49 weights. 125,157,165,174,184,and 285 still in championship contention. Pawless 197 alive in wrestle backs.
  12. Nice article, I know Paul has his hands full. This is what makes IU a better team. Guys on the bench redshirting, that could start on most D1 teams . I hope Goldman can continue the good recruiting. The other athletes need to be pushed in the room.
  13. OK , anyone know the dates? Its nice to know so wrestling fans can plan. I know all the coaches, wrestlers and parents know. With no vested interest I usually like to attend, it is one of the real good duals in the state.
  14. Do we have any word from this Indiana wrestler laden dual?
  15. I think the Kinser boy would like to see Deutsch again!
  16. 149# seems to be unsettled at UNI, they keep rotating three different wrestlers at that position, Lawrence being one of them.
  17. Drooke, I know you don't go to all these posted events , but do you have an explanation why Coughlin didn't wrestle. We can speculate an injury, or is the old problem of making weight? I haven't heard from any reliable voices.
  18. Welch did a fine job today, he will no doubt see the lights at st. finals.
  19. 33-26 MD over Bloomington 40-20 Bloomington over Jeff
  20. Valid, Forest Park and Greencastle should be placed in the rotation after THE CONTRACTURAL match ups have been satisfied. I think this is fairly obvious. So the dodging conclusion stands pretty tall here, whether or not that was what happened.
  21. Thanks Rick, That's early start for my long drive, but I'll try not to miss it.
